Chapter 47 - Goblin Extermination, Begin! -Chapter 34-

Good morning world! The one and only, Shiro has woken up! Oh, geez, I forgot how bright it is during the day...

So, as I fell asleep, an entire day has passed and now it is morning. And luckily for me, slimes don't even feel groggy after waking up! My power is truly an incredible thing, is it not? Obviously, not getting sore or anything is my greatest ability.

... anyway, everybody else is awake, too. Including Ashin, who I thought would be the type to sleep in. Oh, please, don't blame me for assuming things! He seemed to be the irresponsible type, okay? Guess he is apparently the leader of this party...

So, moving on, with all of us now awake, it's time to go take out those goblins. Hm... I wonder what kind of skills they have? I mean, they're just goblins, so they probably don't have that impressive of skills, but who knows? After all, I got Appraisal, one of my most useful skills from an orc, so a goblin could just as easily have a really good skill for me! And, also, there's the possibility of some evolved goblins being in this 'nest' as they call it.

Oh, what's happening right now? Theca is basically telling us how this Goblin nest is set up. Ashin had him go and scope the place out, so that we could prepare better and stuff.

Apparently, there are thirty goblins, three hob-goblins, and one Goblin Lord... come again? Seriously? Isn't that like, a lot? And what the hell even is a Goblin Lord?

Eh? Oh, he's luckily explaining it. So... apparently, a goblin tribe with a large enough population will usually have a few stronger goblins leading hunting groups, and one 'Goblin Lord' that rules them all. Interestingly enough, A Goblin Lord usually understands the common language, Larfas. So, Goblin Lords are pretty smart, huh?

After a bit longer of Theca describing the overall layout of the place, we head off! The place we were staying at was about twenty minutes away from the Goblin Nest, you know, so we wouldn't be found by them? Anyway, because of that, it'll take a bit to get there.

Let's see, what to do in the meantime? Thinking about it, there's not actually anything to do... I do want to practice my magic more seeing how I can actually use it now, but I don't want to waste my mana... I don't even have any spare mana cores to get some more if the situation arises! Such, the only thing to do is walk...

...

And walk I most certainly did do, or, really, we did. So, eventually, we reached the Goblin Nest! And, geez, thirty-four doesn't exactly sound like a lot on paper... but seeing all these goblins in person... dang.

"Whoa... That's a ton!" And it seems Ashin shares my current feelings.

"Honestly... I'd rather not have to go against all of those. Perhaps we should try and cause a bit of chaos to throw them off?" Theca proposed an idea, but I'm not sure how we would do such a thing...

"Hm...? I'm not opposed, but how would we do such a thing?" And in return, Quenilla asked the exact thing I was wondering.

"Then, I have permission?"

"Uh... sure?" I can't say I'm not curious, and it seems Ashin is too.

Whoa, hold up, is Theca about to cast some sorta spell? A lot of mana is being released from them! Quantified into numbers, I'd say it's about twenty-five!

"Fire Magic: Ignite." And when those words left Theca's mouth, fire shot out in thousands of small lines, all across the nest of goblins...

Wait, what? Putting aside how damn impressive this is, how did he do that? Ignite sounds like some sort of skill that just puts stuff on fire... Oh, I get it now! They used Thread Creation! Without any of us even noticing, Theca layed thousands and thousands of threads almost so thin, they'd be pretty much invisible to the naked eye. They're apparently so thin that not even Mana Sense could detect them, pretty scary, if you ask me. So, then, with those threads across the nest, they lit them up using that spell! That's a pretty smart way to use what would usually be a useless spell in most cases.

Though, there's only one thing I don't get, how did the threads not burn up immediately? Like, I mean, how did they stay not burnt? Well, they are on fire, but just, not burnt up to ashes. Their thread creation skill is pretty high... so maybe they somehow made them more resistant to fire? That doesn't seem to be exceptionally hot fire, so...

Oh, I'm getting off track. Anyway, the fire spread to a bunch and buildings and stuff. This should kill at least some of them, hopefully.

"Geez! Theca, that was pretty cool! What do you call that thing?" Ashin seemed pretty excited seeing this, like, grinning and everything excited.

"What do I call it...?" But all Theca seemed to be at the moment was confused at Ashin.

"Yeah! You have to call that cool move something!"

"Hm... you have somewhat of a point. Fine, what do you suggest?"

"Me? Oh, uh... Oh! You should call it Flame Threads! You know, seeing how that's how you did it!" Oh, so Ashin realized how he did all that too, huh? Hmm.. that name's not terrible, maybe a bit basic, but my naming sense is obviously better!

"That's not... actually bad. Although, this 'move' is extremely situational, so I doubt I'll be using it again. I just wanted to try it out."

"Aw, really? I thought it was great! Oh, anyway, we might as well go deal with the rest!"

Oh, just like that, huh? And great, Ashin is running into the fray. Seriously, And Ai is just following him! Oh, great, now both Theca and Quenilla are going off too!

I'm not exactly gonna say I'm opposed to dealing with them right now, but they all seem really enthusiastic about all this... Oh, who cares, let's just get this over with.
