Chapter 25 - The Knight Commander of Draila

Royce Thorne was not a person people treated with triviality, in fact, quite the opposite. Royce, as a knight commander, was treated with a large amount of respect by the general populous, soon, he would even rise to the rank of knight general, if his plans came to fruition. However, something had been bothering him lately, something quite concerning indeed.

His Majesty, Mugra Draila, was an incredible ruler, serving as Draila's Crown for over two hundred years, long outlasting the regular lifespan of a human. Though, who would care if he ruled for another two hundred? His excellent leadership allowed for Draila's humongous growth over the years. Hell, they were one of the largest nations in the world, even including the other sapient species. But, recently, he had been informed that His Majesty had summoned heroes from another world.

Royce, hearing this, was filled with huge amounts of surprise. Why would such a benevolent King, one with enough strength by himself to rival even S-Rank Monsters, need to summon heroes? Usually, this spell would be reserved for only the worst of threats, like, for example, World Wars. Royce desired to get to the bottom of this mystery, sending out spies to figure out why His Majesty would summon these Heroes.

The information that returned to him seemed outlandish, he didn't want to believe such a fact. Wulfnol Halega, son of current Demon Lord Athlaos Halega, was planning to usurp the throne. This information would come as a surprise to anyone, especially considering the fact Wulfnol was seen as an incredibly charitable person in the general eye, but that had to be but a front for his greediness.

Draila and Halega had entered a peace treaty long ago, and it would last as long as Athlaos ruled as Demon Lord... But, if Wulfnol planned to usurp the throne, that peace treaty would come to an end, and he would most definitely enter into war with Draila. If such a thing happened, the Great World War was most definitely soon to come. The only thing that Royce could react to this information was a stressed sigh, he was stressed enough dealing with the numerous bandit groups appearing around, and now this information had come to him... He was lost for words, not an idea of what to do.

While he was in the middle of thought, Geard, one of his most trusted knights, walked in.

'Boss, Triance Maple wants to meet with you.' Geard was born without the ability to speak, so, he dedicated himself to learning telepathy. Luckily enough, he had the aptitude for the skill. He was a stoic man, one that was exceptionally loyal to Royce.

"... Triance? The Guild Master? Why would he wish to meet with me?" Royce questioned, raising a single eyebrow.

Geard replied immediately, 'He wishes to talk with you about the matter regarding Wulfnol Halega, he awaits out this door.'

"He's here? Let him in." Geard did what Royce asked, opening the door.

A man of decent height and long ears walked in. He was handsome, and while Royce wasn't so bad looking himself, this man wildly outclassed him in terms of looks. His long hair went down to his shoulder blades, it flat and neat. A simple smile was placed on his face.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Royce Thorne, or, would you enjoy me to call you by your title, Thorn of Battle?" Triance had a clear voice, soft, but not feminine. It was clear he was an Elf of the highest order, a High Elf.

Royce ignored his ladder words, "Let's not dawdle, you understand the severity of this situation, do you not?"

Triance's smile got wider, "Why, of course. This world is in great danger, I mean, even now, the Demon Prince plots usurpation, his troops readying for war behind the Demon Lord's back. Even His Majesty fears this, as any wise king would."

"Yes, I realize that. However, what exactly do you have to do with me?" Royce spoke in a deep tone, he didn't like this man, the way he smiled, the way he looked at him... It unnerved him.

"Oh, well, I wish for your help, good sir."
