I felt irritated, my skin felt itchy and I pushed off whatever was on top of me. I sighed when I felt the cool air on my skin. When I tried to move my hand to move the hair from my face, I felt something prick my wrist. I tugged but the prick turned into stabbing pain.
"Hurt" I complained
"Ssshh..." someone whispered holding my wrist down. I could feel the helplessness engulfing me.
"No." I tried to struggle but I felt so weak. "No." I could feel my tears trickling down the side of my eyes towards my temple. This time my fear made me struggle harder. I started to thrash. "No."
"Sam. Sshhh. Stop it." It's his voice. "Sam. Samantha."
It's his voice. Not him. It's Micheal.
I stopped. Sighed and went back to the darkness.
*******
Micheal finally released the wrist he was holding, he felt blood flow down to his fingers. When Samantha tried to move away, the needle got dislocated and caused the puncture to bleed.
She seems calmer now. He touched her forehead and moved the hair away from her face.
"Can you ask Dr. Jackson to come to the room?" he ordered through the intercom placed beside the bed.
After a minute, Dr.Timothy Jackson opened the door and went in.
"She's bleeding."
He watched his friend take care of the bleeding and placed the IV tube back into the valve.
"What happened?" Timothy asked but Micheal just watched the doctor move around the bed and went through some procedural check-ups.
"She tried to get up and started thrashing." He took the seat beside the bed and looked at the wrist that was previously bleeding. He picked her other hand and held it.
But she tried to move it when he didn't let go, she started to pull harder and struggle.
"Micheal, I think you should let go." He frowned at Timothy's advice but followed it. He slowly released her hand. She stopped struggling.
"When did she start to thrash?" Timothy removed his glasses and placed them in the pocket of his jacket. "Was it when you touched her?"
Thinking back, that seems to be the case. "Maybe"
Dr. Jackson sat on the sofa and gazed at the patient on the bed, then at his friend who was staring at the patient.
"So you're married?"
Dr. Jackson was surprised when he came to his friend's office earlier after getting that emergency call. He was expecting Micheal to be the patient and was surprised to see a woman lying on the sofa and his friend doing a good job trying to wear out the carpet as he walked back and forth beside the sofa.
