Arnold was overlooking past test results in a room, curious as to how the test numbers from last week's test were higher then before.
"David, how did these numbers increase? They're amazingly high."
"I think it's because of the fact that we had a fucking spirit in our simulation, and thus it interfered with our test. Personally, I believe it's doing this in a positive way." David Responded.
Arnold took last week's test with Max, Alice and Zoe, showing that fear levels, which usually averaged out at around 6.7 out of 10, was a somewhat high 9.8 out of 10. Which, by a percentage standpoint, meant that 80-90% of the time, fear, worry and pain were taking place.
"This is an exceedingly rare occurrence. Do you think it's smart to continue with these tests?" Arnold Asks.
David just said, "Listen, we're doing these tests, okay? Just calm down, and let's move along."
Arnold agreed, and simply just left the room to prepare for another round of testing today.
Which then brings us to our next test subject, James Pence, a businessman who lost father a decade ago. His biggest fear, excluding reliving the traumatizing act is being caught lying to his wife, Karen Pence, who, if caught, would hunt James down, and, in rare cases, physically barrate him.
Arnold and David, knowing what happened before, tried to avoid mentioning "Max is in the simulation" when speaking about what this machine would do.
Both James and Karen were strapped up and sent into the simulation.
They were sent into a library.
"The goal, I'm guessing, is to overcome our fears, right?" Karen asked.
James nodded, but was distracted by a history section.
James was getting into history, reading books from past and watching TV shows about war.
He looked at the history section, and looked at the books, one of the books, was titled The Story of My Life. He took the book, and the cover showed an image of James's dead father.
Trying to forget, the placed the book back on the shelf, and looked at other books.
James then showed Karen an upstairs, to sidetrack the conversation, but got the attention of Tyrell, who threw a book at James to get his attention.
"Who did that?" James Asked in a casual way.
He then saw the hand of somebody, leading him to see who that was.
Outside the simulation, Arnold and David are stunned that Max hasn't shown up yet.
"It's been 10 minutes. You sure he's in there?." Arnold asked.
"Yeah, he's in there." David replied.
Arnold then realized there was a button on the board to lock the simulation, indicating that the lock maneuver wasn't done.
"David? Did you lock the simulation?" Arnold asked.
David simply said, "You mean the lock button locks the simulation in place?"
"I thought you knew that. That's why Max isn't in the simulation, you let him escape." Arnold said.
"Wait, isn't that Alice?" David said, pointing to Alice.
David looks aside him, and notices the mother, who, after a few stares, Jumps at the two and tries to break in.
"What the fuck is wrong this this mother?" Arnold Said.
"This is why you should lock the simulation, because people like Max can escape and shit like this can happen."
Arnold eventually fends her off, Max then says, "Listen, open up the simulation so I can get in, I know you have a way of getting me in there."
"Why should I-" Arnold gets cut off to hear Max say, "Listen pricks, I stole this pistol from a cop, and you're going to do what I ask or I'm gonna blow your goddamn head off."
Max then points a pistol, with loaded ammo, at the two.
Scared, David opens the simulation, "Go, do what you want, I don't care."
"What are you doing?" Arnold asked.
David slaps Arnold and says, "Listen, I know you want to be the bigger person here, but the thing is you don't need to do it all the time, would you rather have your head blown off, or agree to her stupid demands?"
Max then hops into the simulation.
Inside, James is talking to Tyrell.
"Who are you and why did you throw a book at me?" He asked.
Tyrell responded, "That's not the question I was looking for, what I was looking for was, did you kill your own father?"
James, shocked at the response, denied the act, but then Tyrell took a book off the shelf, it said The Story of How I Died. It featured an image of his father on a stage with James behind the curtain. The book also said based on a true story.
As Tyrell pulled off more books, James was having a breakdown.
"Fuck you, Tyrell. You don't know anything about me." He said.
As he walked away, he bumped into a person wearing a black dress.
"Oh, sorry ma'am..."
The female didn't look at James, when he apologized.
"It's Okay." She Said.
The female walked away after he said that.
He didn't mind the woman either, and just ran back to his wife.
"Nearly blew my cover." The Female thought.
The woman lifted up her head to reveal that it was Max playing as Alice.
A man behind him said, "Why do I remember you from somewhere?"
"Well, take that fucking picture, and shove it up your ass." Max said as he slapped the man.
Outside the Simulation, Arnold and David were reading the results coming from the current test.
"These numbers are pretty high. These actual numbers?" David said.
"You only thought about that now? Is anything happening?" Arnold Said, which was getting tired of it all.
Then he looks at the camera and notices that Max is acting as a female to hide his identity.
"David, Max is posing as a female!"
He looked at the monitor and notices a person who looks like a female, but when she lifted her head, they knew it was Max as Alice.
"Damn dude, you're right!" David said.
"What's he trying to accomplish?" Arnold asks.
Max then mouths the words, "I am trying to complete a little "task." Don't worry, it won't take long."
Both men are surprised.
"How did she hear me?" Arnold asks.
Inside the Simulation, Max is hiding behind James to over hear conversations.
"The last thing I want to do is lie to you." James said.
Max then thought of an idea.
"We'll see about that, James." Max thought.
He took out a checklist, and James was #1 on his list.
"You're mine."
