As he did not want to have his partner stuck in solitude after having just released him, Luca let Arcturus walk with him, much to the small Dragonkin's delight. The young Stellar Dragon was curious about anything and everything he saw, seeming to be almost fearless as he roamed the area around his Dragonborn companion. Normally, his nerves would have wrecked his curiosity, but Luca had explained how the Mages Guild's codes and regulations worked, including the one that ensured the protection of any familiars of the guild's members. Several employees of the guild took notice of Arcturus, impossible as it was to not do so, but stayed mostly to themselves out of respect for their identity and the guild's codes. Still, when the dragonling stopped to find out what something was or what someone was doing, Luca would often end up having to introduce the two of them to whoever Arcturus was curious about. Fortunately, most just viewed him like a very shiny puppy, in no small part due to his behaviour.
Having spent more than ten minutes walking a very short distance to the next exam room thanks to Arcturus's adventurous nature, Luca was not surprised to see that Elizabeth Tudor had made it there ahead of time. Arcturus had not noticed, but Luca was amused to see that the Dragonborn boy was stuck with duties that can only be described as babysitting. Standing beside her was yet another unfamiliar face, who, when introduced briefly by the Head Guildmaster, turned out to be the mage that had the most achievements in the realm of magical theory and spell formulas.
"So, we ended up having to change the second exam's content last minute, as we thought it was better if we just tested your ability to separate, deduce and recreate just one small spell. You will instead be doing two tasks: performing the most complex, and not strongest, spell you currently can, and using your Unique magic. Old Samlin here is even more intense compared to Grandmaster Edgewick when it comes to his interests, almost smashing his way in here to witness it. I have to clarify, though, that he only does this when it comes to magic he's never seen before. As he is the person who is in charge of the Magical Research Department, and, by extension, this exam room, I did need to bring him into this due to your status. I must admit, I would like you to test out your Mirror Magic in a simulation so we can see its effects in person. If you're not okay with doing so, we can set it aside. You wouldn't be the first Unique magic-user to decline it."
"I wouldn't be? Is there anyone I might recognize among the ones that did decline?" Luca was very calm, as he already knew about Samlin the Magic Researcher and his personality. A lot of investigation requests involving strange or foreign magic came from the man, after all. He wasn't offended in the slightest by the addition of him, as he wouldn't have been surprised if Samlin, later on, heard witnesses speak of his Unique magic and reverted to his madman style of attempting to follow and convince him to show it to him.
The mid-thirties brown-haired man chuckled a little, his eyes still sparkling nonstop, "Oh yeah, there's certainly a couple. Even some geniuses that created extremely useful or important spells actively avoided it. Among those that you probably know of, there's one by the name of Yveline Therinford, also known by her title of the Stormcaller."
That name was another that Luca certainly knew of, as she was one of several Andor heroes that died during the first reappearance and subsequent wave of demons a few years in the future. Her greatest specialty, obviously, was Lightning Magic, but instead of simply one spell at a time, she would combine and reform entirely new spells using basic ones. Her signature spell, the one that made her famous, was her masterful combination of six spells at once: the Lv. 3 spells [Thunder Wave] and [Lightning Strike], the Lv. 4 spells [Hand of Lightning] two times and [Triple Lightning], and the Lv. 5 spell [Thunderstorm], creating the spell she named as [Wrath of the Storm], evaluated at Lv. 7. When used, it would clad her arms in gauntlet-esque lightning that, when moved in any direction, unleashed [Thunder Waves] omnidirectionally, sent down three bolts of lightning anywhere she wished within her spell range and created an enormous and nasty thunderstorm over her battlefield. She first unleashed it during a wyvern-led beast wave in the northernmost Lawine Province, almost singlehandedly annihilating 70% of the strongest beasts. As it was her first major battle, the city she assisted started calling her the Stormcaller, a title that the Adventurers Guild quickly agreed with. Of course, this event also gave her the track record of accidentally causing damage to the area and the city due to the spell's power.
After a moment, Luca did acquiesce to Samlin's request to witness his magic. "I've never used it before, so this is a good opportunity to test it out. From my understanding, it can handle magic up to one level higher than the user."
Samlin was thoroughly interested, as expected, by this, "A good support magic should be able to support its user against a stronger opponent somewhat, especially so for defensive magic. I assume yours is a combination of defence and support, so having that capability is not surprising." Just hearing the name of the magic alone was enough to give the researcher insight to its abilities, though his information gathered from just the name exceeded those of normal mages.
Elizabeth, smiling despite her attempts not to, said, "We're going to begin with the strongest spell you can cast, by level or by power, it matters not. The standard spells suffice, but self-made and Unique ones are also allowed."
Rolling his shoulders, Luca cracked his shoulders and neck before letting out a sigh of relief, "Alright, let's get to it." By the time he finished speaking, the Head Guildmaster and the lead researcher had activated the room's simulated environment setup, which was based on another highly advanced array. Any magic cast during the duration of the simulation would be projected into the simulation, simultaneously squashing the actual spell that would have been cast otherwise. By doing this, it removed the severe danger that would normally appear for such dangerous uses of magic, while also having a steady and borderline infinite MP, as it was all supplied via the array.
With the simulation array's assistance, Luca was more than prepared to unleash the strongest magic he currently possessed without fear of mana exhaustion.
