As Mayoi is not in the condition to hold the meeting with Keita and his friends, Shinosuke returned to the student council room.
"Sorry, it seems like Yukimura-san is not in the condition to help in this meeting, I'll take over her duties now." Shinosuke entered the student council room with Chisato, Keita, Itsuki, Ayumi and Kamika in it.
"So, first question, what is the reason of joining the student council?" Chisato asked.
"... It was because we had seen your efforts in making the school into how it is today, we would like to succeed the duties you had been working on after you retired from the student council." Keita reluctantly answered.
"What a cheesy answer..." Itsuki muttered.
"... Next question, do you have any changes you intend to bring to the school." Chisato asked.
"... I had no answer for this question..." Keita muttered.
"I would like to help with students' problems to help them feel more motivated to come to school!" Ayumi shouted.
"... What are you even talking about..." Itsuki muttered.
"... Last question, is there any traits that you have that will convince the student body to accept you as their student council." Chisato asked.
"..." Keita remained silent.
"We have our convictions." Kamika said.
"Convictions, care to elaborate?" Chisato asked.
"The commitments of a student council is huge, but if I am willing to take over the duties that you had been carrying for two years, I will do my best to follow up and uphold the duties you had done in the past." Kamika said.
"Hmm, not bad. There is another question, it seems like your group here is not very unified, perhaps it is because you are not too familiar with each other since the semester had only just begun for two months, what would you do if there is an internal conflict between you." Chisato asked.
"... I will take charge and resolve the conflict in a peaceful manner." Keita said.
"Peaceful manner, how would you do it?" Chisato asked.
"We will hold a trial for each problems, listening to each others' statements before figuring out a way to resolve the problem." Keita said.
"A trial huh? The nature of the problem is different for every problem, how would you be so sure that it will be peaceful?" Chisato asked.
"...!" Keita is surprised by this question.
"If there is no peaceful options, then we face it head on together. You asked if we were unified together, and I will prove it to you that we could resolve problems peacefully." Keita declared.
"Ara, that is a bold statement." Chisato said.
"We were handling a problem currently, I believe that will be the proof to answer that question of yours." Keita said.
"Promises without evidence means nothing, this is what our predecessors taught us. We were taught not to listen to promises without proof, as it can be easily dismissed as a mere lie." Chisato said.
"Our accountability is placed as a bet here." Keita said.
"I see, if you failed to resolve this problem, it would scar your accountability of becoming our successors, is that correct?" Chisato asked.
"Correct." Keita responded.
"I see not enough evidences. We didn't even know what the problem is. Your statement could still be interpreted as a lie." Chisato said.
"It is related to Yukimura-senpai, Shimamura-senpai, and even you too, Amanogawa-senpai." Keita said.
"... I see... I will take you on that. Resolve the said problem within this week, and then we shall talk again. Dismissed." Chisato said.
"Thank you for your understanding, Amanogawa-senpai." Keita and the others left the room.
"You were so harsh with them, Amanogawa-san..." Shinosuke commented.
"... It was like I was taught by someone to do it like this." Chisato said.
"So about their answers..." Shinosuke asked.
"They are certainly capable, but they are still immature. I think the person who taught me how to interview them will act as the best judge to judge their performance." Chisato said.
"But... Who was it again? The person who taught you how to interview them." Shinosuke asked.
"This is sure a challenging question. Care to figure it out together on the way home?" Chisato invited.
"Of course, I want to know who taught you that too." Shinosuke agreed.
"... Idiot." Chisato pouted.
"Eh? Did I said anything wrong?" Shinosuke asked.
"Nothing, let's get going." Chisato moved ahead, preparing to lock the door.
"Where are we going?" Shinosuke asked.
"Nowhere." Chisato walked towards a nearby park. They walked through the park, and met two old man playing chess.
"Hello, I am from Hokutosei high, are we allowed to watch you play?" Chisato asked politely.
"Oh, little miss, you know chess? I was an avid chess player back in my days, now I am grateful enough to play with others here." One of the old men said.
"I myself only played shogi, it seems that chess had interesting pieces that piqued my interest. I occasionally bring my own shogi set to play with him. Quite interesting I shall say." Another man said.
"You could even take us on if you were interested." The first man suggested.
"It is fine, I only wished to watch." Chisato smiled.
"I see, it seems like my skills had went dull. I am sure you have a way of ending this game." The old man said.
"Eh... I see..." Chisato began pondering on the next move, Shinosuke gets to witness another face he had yet seen from Chisato before.
"... Splendid... The piece was my last resort, I too, have gone dull." The man that played against Chisato conceded while expressing his awe.
"It was a mere coincidence, I apologize if I had offended you in any way." Chisato apologized.
"It was nothing, you had just shown this old timer that his time had already passed." The man said.
"Is that so?" Chisato asked.
"Yes, young ones, it is true that we passed down our skills to our young ones. However, we did not teach them the ways to accept defeat, our disciples lost their passion after losing in important games, it's sad." The man answered.
"I see, I will take that into my heart. We should leave now, thank you for sharing your wisdom." Chisato said before leaving.
"Accepting defeat huh? That was kind of random to me." Shinosuke ponders.
"Failures, I wondered how would they face them if they ever come across one?" Chisato said.
"Oh... So that is what..." Shinosuke suddenly understood.
"Teehee... Feel proud?" Chisato blushingly said.
"Let's grab something to eat on our way home, shall we?" Shinosuke invited.
"Sure, on your treat alright?" Chisato said.
"Urgh... Alright, alright..." Shinosuke said.
