Chereads / A Twilight Promise / Chapter 82 - Resolve

Chapter 82 - Resolve

A week will soon pass without any obvious actions from Keita's group. The student council is awaiting their progress.

"What are you even doing?" Mayoi nonchalantly asked.

"Didn't we told you? Mayoi-chan, they were handling a problem related to the three of us. The deadline we set for them is one week. Yet there are no visible actions from them." Chisato said.

"... Oh, well they did." Mayoi said.

"Huh? They did? Why didn't you tell us?" Chisato asked.

"Well, telling you means solving the problem itself. The trial is to solve them by themselves, am right?" Mayoi said.

"... You're right. Unless you are a part of their plan. What would you do?" Chisato asked.

"... I don't really care about this anymore. I won't be glad telling you the truth, but we won't be the same again after this." Mayoi said.

"Then only when you feel like it, alright?" Chisato said.

"... Of course." Mayoi smiled.

"Should I have a look at them?" Shinosuke asked.

"No, just come over here and sit. They will be considered failing the test if they failed to show up today altogether." Mayoi said.

"You're right, we should just mind our business then." Chisato said.

"Excuse me president, there is something I want to give to the secretary." A student came in bringing a white cloth.

"I see... Thank you." Mayoi accepted.

"Is that a lost item?" Shinosuke asked.

"If it's a lost item, it should be sent to the staffroom, not us." Mayoi said.

"What could it be? If it was directed to Mayoi-chan, did you drop something like this before?" Chisato asked.

"I see... Guess I have to open it right now huh?" Mayoi understood what the cloth is, having no choice but to reveal it.

"This... How did this...?" Shinosuke is surprised. The white cloth is used to wrap Shinosuke's handkerchief that has Chisato's name on it.

"Hmmph... It seems like this is a good memento indeed." Mayoi laughs.

"I don't remember owning this, do you know something about this?" Chisato asked.

"Well, this handkerchief belonged to me. I sewn that myself." Mayoi said.

"But with president's name?" Shinosuke is confused.

"A note, huh?" The white cloth also contained a piece of note.

"To Yukimura-senpai, according to the plan, you are required to reveal the handkerchief to Shinosuke-senpai. Everything will fall in place if you decided to explain the abnormality." The note writes.

"Cunning aren't you?" Mayoi smiled.

"What is with that note?" Chisato asked.

"Nothing, it seems like they depended on me to solve the problem. I can't refuse them can I?" Mayoi said.

"You can always refuse, you are not a part of them." Shinosuke said.

"Wow, says who started all this." Mayoi muttered.

"I'll hold on to this a little longer. I'll hand these documents to the principal's. They are all handled anyways." Mayoi carried the documents and headed out.

"As long I am not with them, the process will not work. Perhaps." Mayoi thought to herself.

"Fuuh... What should I do in the meantime? Should I just stroll around?" Mayoi wandered around in the hallways as she completed her errands, wondering what to do to avoid the student council members for the time being.

"Mayoi-senpai, what are you doing here?" Mio called from behind.

"Eh? Why are you here?" Mayoi is shocked.

"Uh, I went to the principal office to discuss about the art exhibition." Mio explained.

"Weird, you should come to the student council, they can help you about that." Mayoi said.

"Yeah, the principal asked me to get some permissions from you." Mio said.

"Alright, I'll bring you there." Mayoi said.

"Shimamura-kun, this student had something to discuss with the student council..." Mayoi suddenly remembered she was avoiding them.

"Oh no... They are here too..." Mayoi quickly spotted Keita and his friends.

"Is there a problem? Mayoi-senpai?" Mio asked.

"I cannot afford to be remembered here... At least not now...!" Mayoi panicked and fell to her knees. She started trembling.

"Yukimura-san, are you alright?" Shinosuke is concerned.

"Get away from me!" Mayoi attempted to push him away, instead she was powerless to do so, pushing herself to the floor.

"Mayoi-chan!" Chisato called.

"... Not now...!" Mayoi fainted as she muttered the words.

...

"Where am I...? The infirmary? Why am I here...?" Mayoi is unsure what happened just now.

"So you woke up, Yukumura-senpai." Keita said.

"You...? What happened just now?" Mayoi asked.

"We were discussing about the agreement with the student council until you showed up." Keita explained.

"So it's not about that?" Mayoi asked.

"... About that, we saw you were being so keen on not wanting them to remember, to be honest, we do feel that Shinosuke-senpai was being selfish in his case." Keita said.

"So you didn't try to make them remember?" Mayoi asked.

"We didn't. That is why I am here to ask you the reason behind this." Keita said.

"... I see. You know, there is a thought that had been bothered me for long. What if he did not remember? Will I appear as a creep?" Mayoi contemplates.

"I believe he won't think of you that way. But... I believe both of them will hear you out." Keita Said.

"I see... Thank you for telling me all this." Mayoi said.

"It'll be great if we can be under your guidance for a short while before you leave the student council." Keita said.

"Pfft... Yeah, I'll sure make you work to the bone." Mayoi laughs.

With a newfound resolve and courage, Mayoi faces her own feelings. The spring breeze gradually turned warmer, the seasons are about to change, as well as the distance between student council members.
