"Senpai, what are you doing here?" Mio asked. She is holding a garbage bag, presumably from the art room.
"Nothing." Mayoi quickly wiped her tears and moved on.
"Did anything happened with Shimamura-senpai?" Mio asked.
"Huh?!" Mayoi is shocked.
"I don't really understand what happened before, but Kei-kun told me. You are actually the president right?" Mio asked.
"... If you already knew, then you know why. I don't want to return to that relationship. This is better than hurting Chisato in the end." Mayoi said.
"You knew that wasn't true do you?"
"What?"
"Mayoi-senpai, the one that was not you, she came to my clubroom that evening. She was crying. Although she is apparently hurt from this, she later said that she wouldn't mind if both her and you are together with Shimamura-senpai."
"T-That was before! We had an agreement before!"
"... Based on what I thought, you must have threw something important away into the dumpster. If you still want to hold onto it, you still have time until evening. The garbage disposal will be here later." Mio continued walking to the dumpster, leaving Mayoi contemplating her own actions.
"No, it is not like I want to break my own promise. It was not easy to return things this way. Idiot Shin-chan... why did you asked them to make me remember all this? I'll be fine on my own, did I forgot to tell him?" Mayoi continues to cry in denial.
"So you were here." Shinosuke tapped on Mayoi's shoulders.
"Kyaaaa! Get away from me!" Mayoi screamed.
"What happened, senpai?!" Mio rushed to the scene, noticing Shinosuke stunned from her reaction.
"Senpai, what happened?" Mio asked Shinosuke.
"A few students came over and asked to join the student council, we need our secretary, so I looked for her. It seems like she was in shock. I better leave her alone. Could you bring her to the infirmary? I need to return to the student council room." Shinosuke said.
"Alright, leave it to me." Mio agreed. Shinosuke thanked her as he runs away.
"... I found this, your name was written on it, please keep it properly next time." Mio handed over Mayoi's notebook.
"...!" Mayoi snatched the notebook and held it tight despite it was from the dumpster.
"If it was such important to you, why would you throw it away?" Mio asked.
"I don't know what I am feeling anymore... I had a fulfilling student life as I asked for, and I shouldn't interfere with their relationship anymore, just a secretary, minding my own business, smiling over their closeness, this was all I wanted to do in the beginning, yet now, I..." Mayoi is hesitant.
"Now, you fell in love with him, is that what you wanted to say?" Mio asked.
"... I can't even face my own feelings, what a pathetic girl I am..." Mayoi loathes herself.
"I, too had been trapped in guilt before. I misunderstood the entire circumstance as a child, and it affected my paintings. Until recently, he cleared it up with me, I am able to look forward." Mio explained her past to Mayoi.
"... But I can't clear up with anybody..." Mayoi said.
"We know your circumstances, at least I can talk with you about this." Mio offered her hand.
"Thank you, Yukishiro-san." Mayoi calmed down and stood up.
"Glad I helped." Mio answered.
"As far I remembered, you were meek and shy before. Did something happened?" Mayoi asked.
"Eh?!" Mio is suddenly aware of her behaviour.
"Well, at least you made the effort to talk to me. Thank you." Mayoi commended.
"So what will you do next?" Mio asked.
"... I already placed a bet with Futaba-kun. I won't do anything to stop him. At least I won't feel lonely after this. Being in a place where no one even remembered what I remembered, it is far more lonely than I have thought." Mayoi looked into the distance. The gentle breeze in the afternoon passed through the shade behind the building, where both of them were standing. It felt like Mayoi's heavy, unsorted feelings were slowly unravelled by the winds itself, blown away like dandelion seeds.
"Mind if I tell him this?" Mio asked.
"Mmhmm, I don't mind. But if he promised me that he will restore their memories, I suppose I'll take that as a test to see if his group is capable of being the next student council." Mayoi said.
"I see, I won't tell them then." Mio decided.
"Are you sure?" Mayoi asked.
"I don't think they were aiming to become the student council members, they just wanted to talk to them. But if it was Kei-kun, I believe he can do it." Mio said.
"... I won't let them go anyways. We over extended our time as the student council, it is supposedly the time I end what I started two years ago." Mayoi smiled.
"... Please take good care of them." Mio asked.
"Of course, I won't allow anyone to bring down the image of the student council." Mayoi said.
"If so, I would like to have a painting with you." Mio invited.
"Eh?" Mayoi is surprised with the sudden invitation.
"I want to capture your emotions and thoughts, I deemed it beautiful." Mio said.
"I see... I heard you were a prodigy in painting... Might as well witness it with my own eyes..." Mayoi reluctantly accepted.
"Then I found myself another painting to show on the exhibition this year." Mio said.
"Eh? You were going to exhibit that painting?" Mayoi is embarassed.
"Don't worry, senpai. It will turn out beautiful, you have beautiful emotions in you." Mio said optimistically.
"... You are so assertive in matters like this huh?" Mayoi pointed out.
"Eh?!" Mio is surprised.
"... I see... well, we don't have much time to stay in school, so keep walking please." Mayoi urges the stunned Mio to continue walking.
"Senpai..."
"Just call me Mayoi. I wanted to be friends with you from now on. Is that ok?" Mayoi held Mio's hand gently.
"Mayoi! Let's quickly wash our hands before heading back! It must be very filthy being near the dumpster!" Mio excitedly runs ahead.
"W-Wait for me!" Mayoi followed on, on their laughter they shared revealed a new path to Mayoi, their newly formed friendship shines like the afternoon sun.
