Keita woke up in a dream where a silhouette of a little girl told him not to be friends anymore. It made Keita remember something in the past, but it is blurry. He can't really tell what he remembered.
"Screw it, it could just be that I'm not being a good enough friend." He thought as he dismissed the thought. The nightlong dream caused him to unable to sleep properly. He yawned a few times on his way to school.
At this time, Kanade had already headed to school. She is in the science club of the school. As she aspires to be a doctor just like his father, Dr. Ryujii Kujou. Being in a science club is more or less what she could put her every effort into.
Being only able to remember how Kanade was after he met the accident, she was very kind. But very clingy, as if they were very close to begin with. It weirds him out because he lost part of his memories prior of the accident. He only remembers his name, family members and trivial things like knowledge and habits but not his friends. Not even a single one.
Even so, Kanade seems to be the only one who remains by his side. Being convinced that they were really friends, Keita just let her spend time with him. However, this does not change the fact that he is not good at dealing with people, so he put on a cold expression as a facade. Before long, this even became a part of his personality.
Thinking all about the past while walking, Keita did not expect a shoulder tap from someone else.
"Hey, good morning Keita!" Itsuki greeted.
"..." A annoyed expression is displayed on Keita's face.
"What's the matter? Don't tell me you got rejected by Kujou-senpai?" Itsuki guessed.
"No, don't make up nonsense." Keita said.
"So, you're angry that I put you into the class rep thing?" Itsuki asked.
"Hmmph, it's all your fault." Keita said.
"Ahaha... Well, I just want to see you in action, just that." Itsuki said.
"There is nothing to see at all. Sorry to disappoint you." Keita said.
"Yes, there is. The Keita Futaba who I idolize back in elementary school." Itsuki said, while he tapped on Keita's shoulder before leaving him pondering on the road.
"Another person that knows me that I had no idea who he is. This world has to be this small... No, this is a close by area. People from the same community will most likely to be in this school, including him." Keita thought as he continue walking.
He walked upstairs to his classroom's floor, on the way, he saw a girl with short hair. Her ribbon is blue, unlike the ones in his class, which is red.
"Excuse me senpai, I need to go up." Keita said to the girl who is obviously blocking the way upstairs.
"Why did you became so distant?" She asked.
"No... Not again..." Keita thought.
"Wait, who are you?" Keita asked in a confused face.
"N-no! Nothing! Goodbye!" The short haired petite upperclassman girl ran off.
"If there is so many people who I should know up to now, it's already been a long time ago. Who knows if it happens if I said weird stuff to them that they remembered how weird I am." Keita thought for a while before continued walking up. He spotted a nametag on the floor, seems like someone dropped it in a hurry.
"Mio Shiroyuki. 2-B" The nametag says. The nametag gives off a smell of paint, it seems like this student spent a lot of her time painting.
"Let's return this." Keita thought as he walked up another flight of stairs to the second years' floor. He walked along the hallway, looking for the class tag of class 2-B. As he walked, there are some people looking at him. He could feel their gazes even from behind.
"What have I done to deserve this?" Keita thought.
"Eh, really? It's the underclassman guy who pinned down Tetsuhiko yesterday. He's so cool!" Some girls said.
"Oh, great. I caused a scene that gives random people weird impressions about me. What a good start for a high school." Keita thought.
"Excuse me, I'm here to return this." Keita talked to a student in the classroom.
"Oh, Shiroyuki-san. She is probably in the art room over there. Could you return it in person?" The student replied.
"It's alright." Keita said.
"Well, just more walking time." Keita thought. He approached the art room and knocked the door.
"Y-Yes! Please come in!" A similar voice echoes from behind the door. Keita slowly slid open the door, it's filled with the same smell he smelled on the nametag.
"Senpai, you dropped your nametag, I'm here to return it." Keita said. Mio started looking around.
"Oh no, it really is! Uh... I'm sorry for causing you inconveniences." Mio apologized.
"One more thing..." Keita stammered.
"Y-Yes?" Mio's the same as well.
"I'm sorry that I didn't recognise you right away..." Keita said.
"Oh! It's fine, I cut my hair short so it doesn't take too long to take care, so I could paint more." Mio said.
"I'm sorry. I don't really remember you back then." Keita admitted.
"I know... We all suffered a bit, but you're lucky I think. Being able to forget it like that." Mio said.
"What?" Keita is surprised.
"Kanade-chan, you and me had a friend back in elementary school. We used to play together back then. One day, she fell sick. She had the Kujou disease. We all thought she will die. But that time, what do we know? We cried so hard because we felt helpless. Then on that same day, Kei-kun, you met a car accident." Mio explained.
"So something like this happened..." Keita uttered before he lost his balance and fell.
"Ah, Kei-kun! What happened?" Mio asked.
"My head hurts..." Keita said.
"Let's go to the infirmary!" Mio suggested.
"No, I'll be fine. Let's talk about this next time..." Keita said as he stood up and left the room. He wobbled around as he walked. But he made his way back to class safely.
"It's my fault again..." Mio, who sits on the art room floor alone looked at her left wrist with countless scars.
