Days were passing quickly and summer vacation was about to end. Shradha and Nishant were close to their savings target. Their friendship was blooming and all the time spent together had brought them closer. One fine day Nishant had asked Shradha about Rajat. "Are you two dating?"
"Why ? Are you jealous ?" Shradha teased Nishant. They were sitting in the college campus after calculating their earnings of the past 2 months. After a long discussion, they had agreed on the brand and model of the laptop. It was decided that after attending 2 more events, they would visit the laptop store and buy the 'chosen one'.
"Why will I be jealous? You have clearly spent the whole summer with me and I am pretty sure that you have not met him all the while." Nishant replied. "I just wanted to know why you are not with the guy who is clearly into you. He is good looking, hard working and I heard that he has secured a well paying job in an MNC. He is the perfect husband material!"
"Dude, I know section 377 is invalid now, but that does not mean you talk about marriage! Date him a little if you want! " Shradha said these words with a straight face. Nishant was used to her teasing and he continued to poke around the topic, ignoring those words.
"Tell me please. I am really curious. I had seen you with him in college many times. Did something happen and then you broke up? Tell me..." Nishant continued to pester Shradha.
"Fine. I'll tell you. He did ask me out. We went on a few dates and did few things" Shradha winked at Nishant and continued, " but it was nothing serious. I mean I was not serious about him. He was totally like, 'I really like you. Let's start a serious relationship' and all. I freaked out and told him to leave me alone. He says he will wait for me. He wants to stay in touch. That's all."
"Oh, thank god! Poor Boy is saved" it was Nishant's turn to tease Shradha.
"Why do you care about my love life Virgin Mary?" it was a savage come back and Nishant was at a loss of words.. It was indeed best suited word for him as Nishant was never involved in any sort of romantic relationships. He hardly spoke to girls; so the probability of having a girlfriend was one in a million!
Nishant tried to fight back in this verbal battle - " So what ? I am just curious to know why a guy like Rajat is interested in you."
"So are you agreeing that you are virgin? Seriously dude?"
"My mom says girlfriends, love, relationships these are a distraction in our age. We should be focusing all our energy on studies. "
"You look so innocent and cute when you show your mama's boy side. But if you don't experience life now, when will you do it? after you are old? my dear virgin Mary, you understand life better only after heartbreak. "
"My mom was right when she said, you are a bad influence in my life. I should have listened to her".
"It's not too late. You are most welcome to go back to your mother's pallu. "
They completely forgot about their surrounding and continued to bicker in the campus.
