The clouds that had been wispy and white were now awash with various shades of grey. The air was humid and smelt like storms. The water droplets fall like they simply had nothing better to do and bore down mercilessly upon the streets.
Price was walking on a typical Fliegen street, a wet road made up of brick, like a smooth grey river. There were endless amount of houses aligned on both sides of him. They were marching straight towards their destination accompanied by the sound of their feet on the wet paving stones.
Adam and Clement were murmuring about something, their position was a bit far away from Price as if they didn't want him to hear these words. Adam was leaning towards his back, making random gestures in the direction of those houses as if telling Clement about them.
Price glanced at them, his instincts was telling him that something was wrong yet he shrugged it off as a random hunch. He squinted his eyes before calmly staring in the opposite direction and observed their destination, the worn out, old two storeyed house which stood on unweeded lawn as if abandoned for a decade; wretched with walls that slowly collected moss and dirt throughout those years.
The moment Price averted his gaze away from them, Archbishop Clement who was immersed in 'Adam's explanation' turned his head, peered at him and smiled grotesquely.
Abiel was standing in the front of the house accompanied by the big burly man who first showed him the way inside when he got there.
He saw 3 people walking steadily towards him down the road, those men were garbed in Black Clothes excluding a single one who was draped in pure white.
He speeded off towards them and greeted both Price and Archbishop with a bow and gave a curt nod to Adam.
"Is she in here?" Price said pointing towards the house with his sharp eyes, anticipation clearly written over his face.
"Yes." Abiel straightforwardly replied, his eyes a bit sunken inside his sockets as if he had not slept for days. He looked towards the big man and introduced them, "He is Mr. Nier, the father of the young girl." he took a slight pause in between as if afraid of even thinking of that girl.
"Show us in." was all he heard from Price who spoke in a monotonous voice. Price had no mood to talk at this moment.
Abiel nodded and led the three people into the house with Mr. Neir following behind them.
Price started observing his surroundings, the pictures, the unkempt house, the absence of sofas and tables in the living room but instead a mattresses there, he knew why they did that but still couldn't help thinking 'Staying together won't save you from these things.'
They reached the stairs and climbed them followed by a squeaky voice from their footsteps. St the end of the stairs they were greeted by three doors, Abiel made a gesture with his right hand and took a turn towards the leftmost one room. When he was right in front of the door, he paused and stood still for a moment.
After a few seconds passed he grabbed the handle and looked towards Price. Price gave a nod and Abiel suddenly opened the gate, both Adam and Price were shocked by the scene that were before them while only Clement was undisturbed and still had a smile on his face.
Price saw a woman lying on the bed with half of her body covered with dead necrotic tissue, bones coming out of skin while skin was melting at some places too. They both knew something was wrong as Abiel had given a brief summary of the situation but he had not told them that things were this bad.
Price looked towards Abiel questioningly, a frown slowly forming on his face, "The body started deteriorating rapidly these days."
Price was clearly displeased as he was not told about this sudden change of events.
'It's not safe here' his frown deepened as his feeling got even stronger that something wrong was about to happen and all he should do now is run away.
As they were having the conversation Archbishop Clement suddenly started walking towards the lady on the bed, he stooped at the head of the bed. Looked towards the lady's elbow which was in an awkward position and there was a bone coming out of it and skin melting.
He touched the skin with his index finger, it went straight through, like the skin was water. Everyone around him stopped doing what they were doing and looked towards the Archbishop, they were all perturbed by what the Archbishop was doing.
Clement scooped a bit of skin on his finger and raised it to his eye level while observing it very closely for a minute, analysing it carefully.
He turned around facing towards Price after he finished looking at the melted skin on his finger, and said with a clear smile on his face "You might want to speed things a bit?"
