Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It was an auspicious day for the palace as one of the Imperial Noble Consorts have given birth to a prince.

It was a starry night sky that the Emperor and Empress was heading to the consort's palace when suddenly the sky turned dark and the stars disappeared, thunder crashed. And after an envoy of fiery chariots descended from the sky. The head of the chariot was a beautiful woman, a beauty that no human soul has ever seen. Her expression was as gentle as the sea breeze. Her clothes and jewelry were of elaborate design. It was clear that the Heavenly Mother herself descended from the Great Heaven.

But one thing that peeked the curious of the Emperor and the Empress was she was holding a small bundle of golden fabric in her arms.

When the chariots landed in front of them, the surrounding was enveloped in a thick fog except for the place where they were standing.

The humans quickly kowtowed in front of the Heavenly Mother.

"We pay respect to the Heavenly Mother," the Emperor and Empress said.

"Rise, my children. I descended from the heaven to grant your empire a beautiful blessing that the Heavenly Emperor himself gave," the woman said as she showed the sleeping beauty in her arms.

"She is the daughter of the heavens. She was born from the ashes of a phoenix and from the blood of the Heavenly Emperor. She will one day bring greatness to your country. So, raise her well," the woman added as she handed the baby to the kind Empress.

"We thank you for your generosity, heavenly mother," the Empress bowed as she received the small bundle of blessing.

"My time with the mortals is almost done. I bid you farewell," the woman said as she boarded her chariot together with her angelic guards.

"We bid farewell to heavenly mother," the Emperor and the Empress.

When they peeked inside the small bundle of fabric, a beautiful, red-haired princess was sleeping peacefully. Her skin was as white as the snow.

The Empress and the Emperor were overjoyed as they were personally blessed by the heavenly mother, however, the Empress realized that raising the holy child inside the palace was very dangerous. Many would plot against the child or maybe even kill her.

She took a glance at her husband that was also thinking the same thing.

"We will need to discuss this in a closed room," he said as head for the Empress's palace.

"Tell Imperial Noble Consort Ruan that I have visited first the sick Empress. I will visit her and the prince tomorrow morning," he ordered to his eunuch on which carried it out quickly.

"What should we name her?" she asked as she gently danced the baby.

"Since the heavenly mother has delivered her to us in the light of the moon, we will name her Yueliang," he said as he gently stroked the baby's head.

"I know someone who can take care of her. He is one of your trusted generals, General Wen," she said. " He only has a son and is stationed at the Liang Province. He could take care of her. And since he is one of the Noble clans, this child will have a chance to marry one of the prince."

"Yes, that would be it. Xie Bai! Prepare a small carriage, you will deliver Yueliang to her new parents tonight. Make sure no one sees you," the Emperor ordered his trusted guard as he wrote a short letter, informing the general of his plan and what happened.

"Right away, my Lord," the servant said as he went out to prepare what the Emperor has said.

"Court Lady Lan, escort Xie Bai to the Liang Province. Both of you will travel without stopping. You will take care of the child until you arrive. Protect her at all costs," the Empress said as she wrapped a golden blanket around the baby to keep her warm throughout the rough journey.

She gave her the jade phoenix pendant to the baby.

After a few more goodbyes from the Emperor and Empress, the 2 servants quickly left in hurry.

After a night of travelling, Xie Bai and Lady Lan arrived at the General Wen's house in which they were welcomed warmly.

"My Lord, the Emperor has something for you," Xie Bai said as he presented him the letter.

"Is that the child?" the General asked, pertaining to the crying baby that the court lady was carrying.

"Yes, my Lord," Xie Bai said as he signalled for the court lady to give it to the General's wife.

Wen Ping gasped at the sight of the beautiful baby. When the court lady handed it to her, the baby automatically stopped crying.

"It seems that this holy child likes my wife," the general laughed. "Tell the Emperor and the Empress not to worry about her, we will take care of her like she is our own."

"Then, we will take our leave, my Lord. A lot of people would be suspicious of both of us are gone for too long," Xie Bai said as he bowed to the general.

"Alright, take care on your journey," the general said as he looked at the child who was already cooing in his wife's arms.
