Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Ming Yue and Yao Yao was still eating breakfast when someone again knocked on the gate, this time much gentler however.

"More visitors?" Ming Yue said before standing up and walking over to the gate. Yao Yao grabbed a piece of bun and quickly followed.

"Who is it?" Ming Yue asked as she carefully pushed the gate open, only to see a little boy who was carrying a brown paper package.

When the little boy saw Ming Yue's adorable face his face immediately turned red and he shyly looked down at the ground before he rushed toward her and shoved the package into her hands and then darted away.

Ming Yue chuckled, such a cute boy.

"What's that?" Yao Yao mumbled through the chewing of her bun.

"I don't know. Let's find out." Ming Yue said.

The two girls went back to the small octagonal pavilion and pushed away the various dishes and empty plates to make room for the package. Then she unstringed and unraveled it.

Inside she saw a light-blue sect robe that had been neatly folded into a square and resting on top of it was a beautiful badge made from some exotic dark wood. The name 'Ming Yue' was carved into it in beautiful calligraphy.

"Oh, it's just your sect robe and badge." Yao Yao lost interest and went back to gobbling up food.

Meanwhile, Ming Yue's eyes were sparkling. She finally had her own sect robe and badge. It had bothered her for quiet a while that she was the only disciple in the sect that didn't wear the same clothes as them. But now it was finally here! Jun Xi had previously explained that it took time to produce the sect uniform because it was made of rare materials and the weaving method was rather special. It had several magical properties that gave some protection to the wearer from the elements and also had a self-cleaning and self-repairing ability.

Ming Yue picked up the robe and shoved it into her face as she took a deep breath. She loved smelling new things and this one didn't disappoint.

"I'll be right back!" Ming Yue said and ran inside, only to come back out a short while later.

"What do you think? Does it look good on me?" Ming Yue asked, now wearing the sect robe, as she spun around.

Yao Yao looked up quickly from the food, her mouth overstuffed so that her cheeks were bulging. She gave a quick thumbs up and went back to eating.

Ming Yue frowned. "You're no fun!" She said and sat down with a thump and made a silent note that her next friend should be girlier. However, she didn't go back to eating as she was afraid to stain her new robes, instead she picked up the badge and began examining it.

When she was about to tie it to her robe's sash. She heard Yao Yao's muffled sounds as if she was trying to say something, "Shdurfneidfrst?"

"Swallow first! I can't hear what you're saying." Ming Yue complained.

After a short struggle of swallowing the food in her mouth and washing it down with a cup of tea, she repeated, "Shouldn't you refine it first?"

"Refine it?" Ming Yue asked. Then it hit her as she remembered how she refined the ring. "So this thing can be refined too." Ming Yue said as she spun the badge around. Then she looked at her finger and furrowed her brows. This ment she had to cut her finger. She really didn't like pain, even if it was just for a moment. Sighing, she took a knife from the table and made a shallow cut and let a drop of blood land on the badge. Then she tried to remember the hand seal and tried it a few times before she finally succeeded and a warm string of energy left her dantian and traveled down her arm before shooting out of her finger into the badge. And once again there was a slight glow as the badge absorbed the blood.

She smiled happily and felt a little proud. This was the first time she refined something all by herself. "Does the badge have any functions?" She asked.

"Of course!" Yao Yao exclaimed and cleared her throat as she entered her knowledgeable senior sister mode. "It has a tracking function, so if for example a disciple goes missing, the elders can go to the divination hall and calculate your position. Also it will let you enter various areas that are protected by formations. Of course, most of these areas require you to have security clearance rank of 2 or higher so it probably won't matter to you for a long while. But most important of all is that it's used to store your sect points, so that you can buy and sell stuff within the sect's various shops. Oh, that reminds me."

Yao Yao stood up and walked over to Ming Yue. "Here, let me borrow it for a moment." She said and grabbed the badge and then put it against her own badge. A golden glow appeared around the badges and quickly disappeared. "Giving it back to you." She said and gave the badge back to Ming Yue.

"What did you do?" Ming Yue asked as she looked at the badge to see if there was anything different about it.

"I just gave you the points from yesterday's mission we completed." Yao Yao said.

"Oh. Teach me!" Ming Yue said and shoved her badge toward Yao Yao.

Yao Yao laughed. "Okay, just enter the badge with your inner sense to get a feel for it, then you'll know how to use it. It's a bit similar to a spatial ring, however you can't store any items in it, only energy."

"Okay." Ming Yue used her inner sense and felt she now had three places she could direct her consciousness toward. So she focused on the place which belonged to her badge and soon entered a black space which had five yellow orbs of energy glowing as if they were miniature suns.

When she came back out of the space, Yao Yao continued to explain. "You should've seen five yellow orbs of energy right? Well these are your sect points. They come in various colors where red orbs are 1 point, yellow orbs are 10 points, green orbs are 100 points, and blue orbs are 1000 points. You can add or split the orbs apart to make managing the points easier."

"I see." Ming Yue said and began experimenting. She split a yellow orb and it became 10 red orbs, then she added them together and they became a single yellow orb again. "Let me try transferring points."

Yao Yao untied her badge and gave it to Ming Yue who immediately began transferring points.
