Chapter 5 - School is hell...

"Somebody please kill me." I whispered to myself, squashing my face into my desk. "Gyaaaah!" I moaned. When will this torture end? History was the worst. I felt like crying. While I was almost dying in my seat at the back of the class room, Raven seemed perfectly content sitting for hours on end and studying this crap. Noticing my stare, he turned around. Our eyes met. I stuck out my tongue and rolled my eyes back, playing dead. Raven raised his eyebrows.

Are you okay? You look even worse than normal.

Oh shut up you big oaf! How about you help me instead of commenting.

But how oh how could I possibly help you, Milady?

I am merely a poor lonely student at-

Oi, what's the answer to question 5?

That is here the question now isn't it?

You. Are. So. Annoying.

We stared at each other. Neither of us giving in.

Our bickering continued back and forth until Raven was too tired to keep the mental Chatroom up any longer. The last thing he sent, was a mind picture of his filled out worksheet.

Thanks. I answered.

No problem. Anything for you.

Yeah yeah. I rolled my eyes.

Then our connection broke off. Why was Raven so good in school? It was so unfair. He hardly ever studied and still his grades were always from about 17-20! Mine ranged from 12-14. Life is so unfair. Why always me? While I was distracted sitting in my corner feeling sorry for myself, the bell rang, signaling the end of school. The first day here, it traumatized me, reminding me of our cafeteria in the lab. A similar bell had always ringed before an announcement of The Creator. Sighing I stashed away my books into my bag, crumpling papers and mixing them up with my other classes.

I turned a sharp left in the hall way to reach the roof top of the school where I usually ate my lunch. I nearly bumped into a group of girls.

"And then I said: Hey Raven!" One of the girls squeaked. She smelt like she had showered in deodorant. "Are you free after school?" She flicked her hair and batted her thick mascara drenched eyelashes. How did they not stick together? A true mystery. "And? What did he say?" another girl swooned. The first girl looked at her nails and said in a downcast tone: "Well, he said he didn't have time today." That's right. She better back off of him. My inner fox growled at the sight. He was mine.

Shelia pursed her red lips and put on a pouty face. What a B****!

I watched intently from behind the corner where I pressed myself against. My ears were perked up and my tail was actively swooshing back and forth.

"But, he didn't outright reject me, so he still keeps going out with me at some point as an option. I'm sure of it." She said with a proud grin. Gasps went around the room:

Did he really?

Wow! She got a date with Raven!

No way!

I'm so jealous!

I was too shocked. No way. He wouldn't. I knew I was jumping to conclusions but I couldn't stop the rage from bubbling up inside of me. How dare she! I knew he owed me nothing and was free to choose what to do and who to love, but surely he wouldn't fall for a rotten snake like her? Only now did they notice me awkwardly standing there. Apparently it was obvious that last remark got to me, because almost immediately, like a lion jumping it's prey, Shelia sneered at me: "Oh look! The Mutt likes Raven! Isn't that hilarious?" She and her friends laughed hysterically. I felt so embarrassed and angry I didn't reply and just flattened my ears.

All I wanted was to disappear and avoid this conflict at all costs. But then, something changed. I felt another part of me beginning to stir. Who was she to talk to me like that? What gave her the god dam right to act like she was superior to me? I could feel my emotions flaming up inside of me. That's right. No one. My hands started shaking, my knuckles turned white.

"You better know your place, Mutt. Can't you see?" She waved her hand around. "No one wants you here. No one. So just get lost. No one would notice anyway." She gave me a triumphal smile.

Her 'friends' laughed. "While you're at it, the roof is right this way..." she gestured towards the stairs. The other girls gasped. "You're such a savage Shelia!" They laughed. How could people be so cruel? Tears started to push their way up. I stared at her. "Oh? It seems the Mutt didn't understand me." Shelia grabbed me by my sensitive ear, digging her long nails in. I yelped in pain, scrambling to get away from her iron grip. "Listen up, Mutt." She whispered in my ear. Panicking, my breath started accelerating like crazy. Not enough air! My head started to drum synchronized with my racing heartbeat. No! Make it stop! "I'm gonna tell you something now." Desperately I yelled: "Get away from me!" Shelia yanked my head up to make me look at her. "Listen you little crybaby, you better-" I never figured out what she wanted to tell me then. My vision blurred. Memories flashed before my eyes. The lab. Needles jabbing at me. The table of wicked looking tools. Masked figures bending over me. I even saw Rose. I screamed. No more! Why won't it stop??! Then, it happened. My third generation power unlocked to its fullest and the school imploded on itself.

I faintly remember being swept off my feet and being rushed out of the school. Then, everything turned black.
