The rest of the day was just awkward, for me at least. Xander just went back to his saintly ways and put on his public face around Aston. For someone who claims that Aston helped him find his true self he sure has that mask on tight right now. That or maybe this was what was really like around people he admired. Thing was I'm still a little confused of what he thought of me? Did he just think of me as some sort of pet monkey that always was around Aston? Did he even really like me considering what happened about 5 minutes ago? So many questions about this new Xander and so many worries I have for the future.
"Hey Eli, why don't you do a dance for the both of us?" Xander asked.
"And why would you want to see me dance?"
"Just cause. I mean you didn't get to perform for the opening showcase with everyone else and I'm curious."
"He's right you know, I'm the only one who ever saw you perform. Now that you're better I would like to see what you can really do."
"Not you too Aston. Need I remind you about why I was placed in the hospital in the first place?"
"Come on please!!" The both of them said unison. I wasn't going to win this am I. I gave in and asked whether or not if there was a pond or a lake somewhere in this garden to Xander and he led us to a large lake in the middle of the garden. It felt more like I was at a public park than someone's house.
"Alright just watch this." Thankfully I've been studying a bit on magic ever since my little injury. This time for sure I'll blow their minds. I skated on top of the water into the middle of the lake so they could have a clear view of me. My ankle had just recovered so I'm going to have depend a bit more on my knowledge of magic in order to shut them up.
Couple of things I've learned about this world, magic is the culmination of thought and mystical energy that exists in everything. Magic reacts to the thoughts and emotions of its user and manifests that thought into a physical form. Ones magic abilities are actually tied with your birth and blood. In the past only the wealthy and nobility could use magic because they wanted to preserve the art and to make sure the common folk didn't have the same powers they had. Years pass and your everyday man can use magic but still not as well as someone of noble blood. The fact that a commoner like me is going to Lilia Academy on a full scholarship is unheard of. Guess that makes me some sort of zoo animal for the wealthy.
I created a thin layer of mist on top of the lake just enough to create a sense of mystery. I wanted to base this performance on an undine in a book I read in a past life. Undine's were water spirits that lived in lakes and ponds that were elusive to mankind. I then made steams of different colored water from the fog dancing around the pond. The streams of water then took the shape of creatures that normally inhabit an environment like this. Dragonflies frogs and birds made of transparent colored water started playing with me as I skate across the pond. I only let my full figure out in glimpses. Most of the performances was just shadow theatre. The fog gets thick and thick as I began spinning in the middle of the lake and the creatures I made out of water start to circle around me at an alarming rate and gets closer and closer. The creatures then burst and the fog dissipates and a rainbow appears with me taking a bow in the middle of the lake. When I lifted my head up apparently I attracted the attention of more than just Xander and Aston. Most of his servants saw me perform and were in shock and awe. The servants then start clapping.
"Uh thank you?" As I make my way towards Aston and Xander, I noticed that they both had this astonished fascinated look on their face. Like they just saw a unicorn or something, fitting since that was kinda what I was going for.
"That was so cool. Where did you get the inspiration for that performance?" Aston asked.
"I knew you were good but I didn't think you were that good." Xander said.
"Thanks, both of y-" I suddenly felt lightheaded and started to collapse.
"Eli? Eli are you ok?" Aston asked.
"Young master," one of the butlers came by to take a look at me. He placed his hand over mu head and a blue light started emanating from his hands.
"Looks like your poor friend bit off a bit more than she could chew with that performance. She's exhausted a lot of magic energy. She'll be fine if we just give her some rest."
"Still despite that, it was a superb performance. I knew she was good but I didn't know she was this good." Aston said. In the manga Aston was as competitive as the got and never tolerated losing to someone he felt was beneath him. This was a bit strange. Then again this whole world is beginning to look nothing like the manga.
When I woke up I was in a very large and spacious bedroom. The bed itself was a double king size and the room looked more like a presidential suite in a Vegas hotel.
"What happened to me?" My head was pounding and everything just felt weak. I did it know that using up so much magic power could feel like this.
"You collapses from using too much of you mr magic energy." Aston said at the side of my bed.
"Is that why my head is ponding and I feel like crap on a stick?" I said while trying to get out of bed.
"You must've misjudged your own abilities. Creating that many sentient beings made of magic covering an entire lake with a magic fog while performing like that can use up a lot of magic energy." Aston said.
"Still that was quite the spectacle, it was really amazing." Xander's face had this eager excited look on his face as if he was opening at a fancy new toy on Christmas.
"I knew you were good but I didn't expect you to be that good. You could give anyone of us a run for their money." Aston said.
"Yeah but I should probably hold off on making any performances like that for a while." Didn't know that magical exhaustion could feel like this. If just performing could cause me to collapse I would hate to get into a magic fight.
While the three of us were conversing at my bedside, a small groups of servants were also having a small discussion from behind the door to my room about something malicious.
"Did you see that little girl's magic show? If a commoner like her has that much talent for magic then maybe we should get her over to the western continent. She would be so much more useful as a soldier than a dancer." One of the butlers said under his voice to the other three.
"I agree. She'll be an excellent soldier for the sergeant." One of the maids said. "Plus I hear that she's the daughter of the famous fighter Li Greyson. She has to have some amount of fighting potential."
"Now now calm down you two we just can't abduct someone in a situation like this. After all we've waited this long we can hold off a little longer. Still to think instead of the earth magic brat we would find another treasure like her. We'll wait when she leaves and then snatch her. Got it you two?" Another maid said.
"Understood." The other two accomplices said in unison.
