It was getting late and I figured that Xander would rather have Aston all to himself rather than me third wheeling everywhere with them. I texted my dad to pick me up after work and told Xander that I should be heading home soon.
"That's fine no need to bother your father with such trivialities my driver and I can drop the both of you off."
"You sure I wouldn't want to impose more than I already have." Get the hint after everything that's happened today the last thing I want is to be in a cramped space with you guys.
"It's no trouble at all. I'll get a driver for the both of you. Wait here while I get my butler." Xander left the room with just me and Aston alone. I guess it was better than having Xander around but still. I get can't a good read on this version of him yet.
The driver drops me off at my house first and I say goodbye to Aston after he so vehemently insisted on coming inside. I won that fight so he had to go home. As I was about to enter my apartment, someone came up from behind me and gagged me. I fell unconscious and the next thing I knew I was tied up in some sort of abandoned warehouse.
"Glad to see you're awake little girl." The person I woke up two was one of Xander's maids with two other servants just talking behind her. I see that they had a phone in one of their hands and keys in the other.
"What's the big idea here? If you're going to kidnap someone wouldn't one of those rich kids I was just with be a better target for ransom?"
"Funny but no." She got up from the box she was sitting from and threw a knife at me releasing me from the ropes.
"If this is your way of kidnapping someone you're doing a terrible job." The maid then charges at me and starts attacking me with wind magic. I dodge and retaliate by blasting her with a torrent of water. She took it and was pushed back a few feet from the blast.
"Yes, very good. We could use someone like you." She said with a cynical smile on her face.
"What do you mean by that? I asked.
"I'm going to be blunt. Don't you think talent such as yours is being wasted on going to that school of yours? Instead of just twirling around all day don't you think the life of a warrior would be so much more entertaining?"
"I see, you're from the western continent. What are you doing in a place like this. The nations of the eastern continent all signed a non aggression treaty years ago. Why would someone from a place known for producing magical soldiers come to the east?"
"Very impressive for a little brat, you're quite well informed. It's true that the countries on the eastern continent are no longer at war with each other but that isn't the case for the west. It is true that nowadays that most major superpowers in the world aren't really fighting one another but that isn't the case for internal conflict." As far as I can remember this subplot was only a minor part of the story in blessed romance. It really only was important during the ending when the heroine gets kidnapped as a way to bargain with Aston into coming over on their side and become a soldier for the western army.
"I hope you realize just what sort of situation you're in at the moment. No one knows where you are and you're clearly out matched and there's no where to run." True enough I'm no match for these guys. My mana maybe back to full capacity but I still don't have nearly as much mana to take on any of them. Looking at her face a bit more closely she seemed to one of the servants working under Xander, meaning that most likely that all of them have already seen what I can do already. My best option is the most obvious, sending out a familiar out to dad and lead him to where I am. They've already anticipated that and have the other two on the other side ready to attack from either side. So that's out of question unless I can somehow get the other two off guard. Plus even if I did manage to do that I would first somehow get past her and she seems like the most powerful of three. There is also the scenario that dad might be on the look out for me but for that to absolutely work he would have to a way to find me and fast. My best option is to try to get outside. Not only can I set out a signal outside but it's more than likely that we're near the ocean considering that I find it doubtful that they could get any kind of aircraft over without anyone noticing.
"You know that you staring at me all day isn't going to change anything? I thought that someone like you would be more defiant if anything else?" No sense in dragging out this awkward silence any longer. Besides unlike the original I'm not some damsel in distress. If I'm going to get captured I'm not going down without a fight.
I quickly make a run towards my captor aiming to jump out the window. Anticipating that I wouldn't go down without a fight the woman before me blasts a gust of wind towards me knocking me back. Clearly she wanted to make some sort of spectacle proving that she was much stronger than I was. If I was going to pull this off I was going to have to expend some mana. I spin around flailing my legs around in the air setting off streams of water from me feet to knock her back but mostly to cover my escape. Some of the scaffolding in the warehouse and the boxes in the warehouse broke and made a wall of debris between me and her. Using this chance I tried to escape I look for a window or a door and luckily I find one and also thankfully we were right next to the ocean. I could use this.
"Hey what do you think you're doing?" The other two came out and right after they come around the corner, from the other side of that small warehouse came their leader.
"It was a nice try, too bad you didn't anticipate the other two and that fact that I so easily could've broken out of that little mess you made." Out of the cloud of dust came out the woman slowly walking towards her companions. They're deliberately blocking my way over to the ocean as a way to limit my powers and for me to consume more mana so that I'll just exhaust more mana. No wait, I'm outside. I could send over a small familiar to fly over to dad. It can't be anything too big or too conspicuous. A fly? No too small, he'll miss it. An owl? Too big they'll notice it no problem. A moth or a butterfly could work, but I would have to do it as inconspicuously as possible.
They charge at me with magical blades made of wind and light. I dodge and create the familiar and a staff made of water. Hopefully I can buy sometime for myself. It'll take some time to fully write my spell on the familiar. I'll just be on the defensive and prolong this fight as long as I can.
