Spence followed Haruko and Pin to the SEC, with a very heavy weight upon his heart. It was something very difficult to cope with. After the loss of yet another loved one, he could feel himself gradually descending in a never-ending abyss of despair.
"What is it Haruko? Please tell me." He sounded desperate.
"I can't tell you, I can only show you."
"Spence, what happened to you? You don't seem fine." Pin interrupted the conversation.
"You know him?" Haruko turned towards Pin and his eyes widened in surprise.
"No. I don't know him, but I do feel he is not fine."
Spence simply stood and listened to them.
The trio walked inside the SEC and saw the doors shut behind them heavily, causing a pang of fear to rise in Spence's heart. He could tell that he was going to encounter something he never wanted to. Following Haruko and Pin upstairs, they reached a room, whose door was locked.
Haruko knocked the door softly and muttered, "Please let us in."
"Tell the password to enter." Someone spoke up.
"It is death trap." He whispered.
The door locks clicked and the door opened. The next thing which Spence saw sent a cold chill down his spine. He couldn't believe what his eyes were telling him. They had become liars. The air of this place had made them masters at lying. There was no way it could happen.
"Raina... What are you doing here?" He asked in a low voice, slumping on the ground.
It was a girl standing in the middle of the room, leaning on a table. She had wavy black hair and a lean body. Her attire suggested that she was a doctor, as she was wearing a long white coat. Her eyes hovered over the countless documents lying around, as she strained her eyes on the papers.
"Oh! Hi Haruko!" She spoke repulsively, as she fixed her glasses on her lean nose.
"Hello Raina, hope you are doing well today, I have got someone for you."
"Who is it Haruko?" She looked up and almost instantly turned her eyes towards the laptop screen.
"It's Spence."
Those words were enough to make her stop whatever she was doing and walk towards the entrance, where they were standing. She looked around for the person and found him on the floor, with tears dried and crusted around his eyes.
"Spence!" She crouched down to her knees and looked at him, before grabbing his face and turning him towards herself. "Where were you all these years?"
However, Spence did not answer.
"Spence! Tell me something. Talk to me." She said, grabbing him in an embrace. Spence tried to push her away, but she was resilient. "Why won't you say anything?"
"What more is left to say?" He finally spoke up, but his voice was raspy and low as if someone stuffed hot coals down his throat. "Everyone got snatched away, you will be gone too."
"No my dear, don't say anything like this. I was snatched from you once but look at us now, here I am, wrapping you in my embrace."
"But what should I do after finding out my sister is a bloody murderer?"
"We didn't murder anyone, just doing some research on the chosen ones.
Spence looked up into her eyes and moved his eyeballs around, searching for something. Raina's face was as expressionless as a sculptor and her dark brown eyes seemed to be dead. Spence raised his hand and landed a tight slap on her cheek, causing her to fall back.
She struggled to get up and looked at him with a shocked expression on her face. It was perhaps the first time she expressed anger. Although Spence felt a storm of fury brewing around, it was instantly blown away by a breeze of pain.
"I never expected you would do something like that." She stepped away from him, showing discomfort.
Spence managed to get up and walked away from the room, closer to the stairs. "I think you will kill him soon too." His voice trailed off as he quickly descended downstairs.
"Who would I kill? My own family killed me years ago!" She exclaimed at the top of her voice, making sure her wails reached downstairs.
Haruko rushed towards her and grabbed her lean shoulders, pulling her in for a comforting hug. He patted her shoulder several times, something he had not expected himself to do. Shifting his gaze towards Pin, he noticed a glare shoot right through his head, astonishing him.
"It's just Spence's sister." He chuckled nervously.
However, Pin did not find the situation funny.
She tried to move away but her she felt something pull her back. Pin noticed her hair had gotten entangled in Haruko's brooch. Its complex structure had a lot of wires, which were easy traps for unsuspecting strands of hair. He grabbed the bunch of hair and pulled it harshly, causing her to yell out in pain.
He walked out of the room, without turning back. Instead, a sly smile swept across his face.
