Chapter 67 - Befitting an Empress

Xu Wei leaned his back on the chair. The atmosphere inside the room was tense with three people facing each other.

At one side was a man of little stature. At first glance, he seemed harmless with bright eyes and lips will full smile. However, only a few people knew that he currently ruled the underground society.

Also, only a few knew that he was the illegitimate son of the Yang Family, Yi Wang. His mother was a prostitute who tried to climb the bed of the Master Yang. Obviously, she succeeded in climbing but not in entering the Yang Family.

Meanwhile, at the other side of the room was a man with a lean body. His eyes were sharp and lips that always formed a straight line. He wore a suit and tie. His formidable aura was further strengthened with the scar on his face. The scar went through his right eye, crossing to the left cheek down to his left chin. He was the Young Master of Heng Family, Heng Jun.

The three men were friends but no one knew when and how they became. It was Yi Wang who organized the so-called Red Hunt. As the leader of the underground society, Yi Wang cannot utilize his own men to get something he wanted.

That's why Xu Wei suggested that they put the task at the dark web. Right now, they are just waiting for the groups that volunteered to do the job. Of course, in exchange for a large sum of money.

The meeting will be held inside an abandoned warehouse, miles away from the City S. After giving the instructions, the groups will be lifted by a private plane to nearby island near Country L. And then the hunt will begin.

"Do you really want to do it, Wang?" Xu Wei asked. "This will definitely destroy the Yang Family."

Yi Wang curled his lips. The reason why he was shunned by society was because of his midget size. Growing up inside his mother's womb, he lacked the necessary nutrients to be a healthy baby.

His mother died during childbirth and he was sent to the orphanage. He grew up sickly. When he came to know that he was part of the Yang Family, he went to them but the Yang Family not only denied him, they sent goons to kill him.

"That's what I intend to do," Yi Wang said after a while. He turned his head to Heng Jun. "Is your intel reliable?"

Heng Jun puffed out his chest. "My info was always reliable. It's just depends on how you act on it."

Putting his feet on the desk, Xu Wei clasped his hands behind his head. "We only have one shot. We better do it right."

No one spoke for a minute. All their expressions were grim.

The intercom disturbed their flow of thoughts.

Xu Wei pushed the button. "What is it?"

"Boss, the groups have arrived at the location," the other side informed him.

"Copy that," he said.

The three men stood up from their seat, heading outside the room, towards the war of their lives.

The groups stood away from each other, wary of everyone. Everyone knew that each group was a competitor of the others, vying for that one billion dollars. They still do not know the job they are going to do. Hence, if they are not pacing back and forth, some were fidgeting while biting their lips.

Li Nuxie maintained her poker expression. Huang Wensheng was still a child, that's why he was craning his neck, glancing around.

Li Chanying has her arms crossed while tapping her left foot on the concrete pavement. For his part, Li Chao stood in front of Li Nuxie, effectively shielding her from the curious stares of the people around.

"Is that Li Chanying?" a woman asked from one group. "So, she was really disowned? How disappointing."

"Her group looks average. I bet they cannot get past the first round," another one commented.

The sound of chains being pulled up caught the attention of the groups. The steel gate slowly opened, as a charter plane came into view.

The door of the plane gradually came down. Yi Wang was the first to came out.

Majority of the people caught their breath in their throats. As they were familiar with the works of the underground society, almost everyone knew Yi Wang.

"Xiexie, that's Yi Wang, considered to be the Lord of the underground society," Li Chanying informed her cousin. However, Li Chao's back was blocking his sister's view.

Li Nuxie inclined her head. "I don't care about the people behind the job. Eyes on the prize, Ying," she chided her cousin softly.

Li Chanying just pouted but did not say anything.

Meanwhile, Xu Wei who was still seated inside the charter plane glanced outside, eyeing the groups nonchalantly.

He almost choked on his saliva when a particular person caught his attention. Although it was only a side profile that he saw, Xu Wei was sure that it was Li Nuxie. He was not familiar with the man blocking Li Nuxie but he has a resemblance with Li Nuxie.

He must be a relative.

"Are you alright, Wei?" Heng Jun asked his friend.

Xu Wei patted his chest before answering. "I'm fine. I just saw someone."

"Someone?" Heng Jun's tone of voice was laced with teasing, in contrast to his grim face.

"My woman," Xu Wei finally gave in.

Heng Jun leaned closer. "Where?" He took a peek through the window.

Xu Wei closed his eyes. "Third group from the right. The one wearing an eyeglass."

Heng Jun's eyes scanned the crowd outside. "Oh. She looks formidable," he commented. "There is something about her that makes her stand out even though she looks simple."

"Of course, she is my woman after all. Do you think I would choose less?" Xu Wei opened his eyes and look straight at the man in front of him.

Heng Jun shook his head. "I don't. What's her name?"

"Li Nuxie of the Li Family."

The scarred man chuckled as he raised his palm for a high five. "No wonder her aura befits an empress."

"I know right," Xu Wei slapped his friend's palm.
