Chapter 3 - Defrost

Ben and David were still talking about what was really happening and Jack just chilled - literally - in the corner.

"Star Wars? Why the fuck did we reincarnate into the universe we just watched a movie from?", asked Ben in a very unhappy tone.

"Who knows? Maybe fate just screwed us over? I am also not happy being an alien, you know.", answered the little Jawa in the same tone. If it was even possible to differentiate those while talking to a Jawa.

Ben only sighed and rubbed his neck in annoyance while looking away from David. "I am really irritated. How come that we even understand each other so smoothly?"

He mentioned something both were really confused about. David already explained to him that normally Jawas and Humans speak two different languages. But why was he still on about that matter?

In the end, they just agreed and gave the credit to being here together. It was probably just an extra they got to understand each other.

"You got some worries...Start thinking about where Jack is. If you and I are here then he should be as well.", said David and looked around once more.

He didn't need to tell him that. Ben already was looking around since a while ago and just let his eyes wander so that he didn't have to look at David. "Looks like we are on some kind of ship? Maybe Jack is in the pilot seat?"

"Well, that could be it. But ships do have autopilots. So it can also just be that. I can also feel the subtle vibrations it emits. It is moving somewhere. That's for sure.", exclaimed the little Jawa after looking at his feet.

"Is that some ability of yours? I don't really feel any vibrations. But there is this weird chill from that damn statue over there. It's also ugly as hell. Not much artistic value if you ask me.", said Ben and nodded into the direction he saw what seemed to be a freezing block of ice?

"What? Cold? I don't feel anything like that.", answered David and looked into the direction where he indicated. After seeing the object he meant, David knew immediately what it was.

"Crap! I think that´s Jack!", he shouted lightly and sprinted the few meters towards the carbonite statue.

"How can that be Jack? That is a damn ice block and weird machinery around it.", said Ben with slightly furrowed eyebrows.

"Just think about it, you idiot. We two also were right in front of each other when the dark space vanished, right?" He stated a question but didn't wait for an answer. "And we stood right in front of this carbonated humanoid. Those things are prisons in this universe, mate."

Ben now walked closer as well. "Then we got a problem. How do we release him from that ´prison´?"

David went to the side of the carbonite plate and looked at the electronics that controlled the carbonite.

"This looks really different than in the movie...Also, why do I feel like I want to disassemble this thing? It seems damaged and...it gives me a feeling of being old...this is weird!", mumbled the little Jawa while examining the carbon prison.

Ben only heard gibberish from him and looked to the side where a datapad was lying around on a crate. He was somehow intrigued and picked it up. He had to admit that at least this whole technological stuff was somehow interesting. It reminded him of the newest electronic devices from his last life.

Weirdly enough he felt familiar with the datapad and browsed through its content. Reading more of it he furrowed his brows.

"Hey, Dave. I think I may know why Jack is in carbonite...Looks like we are the ones that found him...He is a freaking collector´s item for rich people that we had to retrieve from some gang...and we have to bring him to a Hutt Cartel on Nar Shaddaa...Question, aren't Hutts those fat slugs?", said Ben now while reading about the content in the datapad that looked like some kind of journal.

Was it his own journal? It felt familiar to him.

David put his thoughts aside and moved his head towards looking at Ben with his yellow eyes. Those were not his real eyes of course but the environmental suit he wore under his robes. But that still could creep people out that were new to interacting with aliens.

So Ben always felt weirded out and tried to avoid looking at him. David himself probably doesn't notice it because Ben still looks like a human. A little bit different but still human at least.

"Are you certain? If what you said right now is true then we got a problem...Please don't tell me that we already received the payment for him....", answered David and waited for Ben´s response.

"Let me check." He scrolled down on the datapad and found a button that looked like a link or something. He pressed it without knowing or even thinking much about what he pressed. Then something happened on the pad and a new message appeared. "Transaction successful...Oh crap...I think I just accepted the money. Is 1 Million credits a lot?", asked Ben sheepishly after looking up from the datapad to look at David.

"You idiot! Send it back immediately! No, wait. Don't press anything! We can't sell Jack! Damn, the Hutts are a very notorious species that won't tolerate broken deals and things like that.", he told him and was quite agitated.

"Just...keep quiet. How about you search this ship and find out if other people are on it? If there are people then tell me immediately. I will try to defrost Jack. I just need some spare parts out of that box there. Wait, why do I know that? Nevermind...", ordered the little Jawa and walked to the box where some tools and parts were inside.

Then he walked back to the carbonite prison and started gently fiddling with the electronics. It didn't even come over his mind that he could kill Jack with fiddling around like that.

Ben only shrugged his shoulders because he didn't see why David gave off so much steam just because of some slug. How about noticing the fact that he basically made some money? David also didn't answer if it was a lot or not. Well, doesn't matter.

He followed his order and started walking around the ship. Every door he walked through seemed to open up on its own after he got somewhat close to it. He was impressed by how fast that even occurred. As if the doors had powerful engines to operate them.

After walking around and not finding anyone he reached what looked like the cockpit of the ship. It was somewhat spacious in it. There was at least enough room for 5 people to linger around.

At the front, there were two seats to pilot the ship. Being bored he just sat down and looked through the looking glass straight into space. He could see how blue energy was flowing around them. Was this normal? "Hyperspace....huh? I know what it is? Looks funny though. How long will that last?", murmured Ben and made himself comfy.

Back in the cargo hold, David was still repairing the damaged parts that didn't work. When he was finished with that and everything still looked alright, he started to activate the defrosting process.

Calibrating everything David distanced himself from the carbonite and watched what happened.

Hopefully, he did everything correctly. Even though it felt weird to know what he was doing it still nagged at his mind that he may have done something wrong.

Slowly the carbonite heated up and the figure that was inside of it showed its true face.

"That is....wow...", commented David while still watching and slowly seeing Jack his new body. That is if it really was him.

When Jack was fully heated up he fell face down to the metal floor and shortly after started groaning and coughing.

"Ugh...this pain...", he commented on his current health.

"Jack? Can you hear me?", asked David with his squeaky Jawa voice.

Jack immediately became happy after hearing his name called. It was definitely one of his friends. "Ben? David? Damn, I can't see anything and everything hurts.", said Jack to him.

"Keep calm. It's me, David. It should become better later. You suffer from hibernation sickness right now because you were in carbonite.", stated David with a happy voice. It really was Jack. Now the three of them were up and running again. "But damn. Looks like you hit it hard as well as hit gold, mate.", he added and looked at the obvious sith features.

[Jack, he is correct. Keep it slow. Current status is +Blind+ and -50% in all stats until your body slowly gets back to peak shape.]

´Glad to be out of there...´, Jack thought.
