Chereads / Star Wars: Force Bound / Chapter 4 - The Quiet Before The Storm

Chapter 4 - The Quiet Before The Storm

Seeing him just lying there like a dead fish, David tried to push Jack up but with his height that wouldn't work out very much. So he grabbed Jack his arms and dragged him across the metal floor.

"What the hell are you doing! Urgh!" Jack complained loudly when he felt getting grabbed and dragged a few meters on the ground. He even bumped his head somewhere.

"Sorry, you are kinda too tall for my shoulders so I have to compromise...", answered David and stopped his movements.

"Mate, I can stand up...You only need to guide me. Nothing more..." Jack his mood somewhat frosted over after this event. He also wondered why his height was too tall for him. This blindness was getting annoying.

"Well, I am sorry? You didnt really move at first. Now then, follow my voice I guess?", chuckled David sheepishly while realizing that himself.

Hibernation sickness was only affecting the eyes for a longer time. Jack probably could already stand up again just fine.

And Jack just did that while David waited for him.

It was somewhat harder than Jack at first thought. His body felt very disorientated and wobly. But he soon got a hang of it.

His problems possibly occured because he was blind and had to get back to full health. Or maybe he needed to get used to the body in itself?

"Lead the way.", said Jack somewhat groggy now.

"I will help out. Cant trust you to walk straight.", answered David and placed a hand on Jack his back to push him into the direction he should walk.

Jack only could hear doors swishing open and closing and after a while, they seemed to have reached their destination...

#############

Ben was already nearly asleep and yawned deeply. The waiting and staring into the hyperlane just got to him at some point. He was very close to fall asleep. But right at that moment, the doors behind him opened.

"How is our ice block doing? If you cant free him lets just sell him.", he asked David and only turned his chair around after he said those words. Looking at the Jawa he could also see another person beside him. It was a tall red-skinned alien.

Ben frowned and put his hand subconsciously on his blaster that he already had noticed when he checked out his clothes. It was placed around his waist like an old western revolver.

"So you would sell your friend? How much?", asked Jack with a slight smile on his face. He knew he had a certain title. It probably boosted his renown under those rich people.

Ben looked at the new alien and knew now that it was Jack. Looks like he also got an Alien body in the lottery. But that alien looked at least somewhat more appealing to look at. "You are finally awake, huh. Well, I don't know. I asked David if a million credits was a lot but he didn't answer my question."

Hearing his friends response he chuckled somewhat. "So I was some item? Who made the deal?", he asked with a little concern.

"I think it should be the bodies we inhabit now. I think we are smugglers of some sort and had just retrieved you from somewhere. And you Ben should NOT have pushed that button. A measly million is way too cheap for Jack here.", commented David now.

"Huh?", exclaimed Ben "Too cheap?"

Jack was also surprised. He would have considered a million as a lot as well. But it seems his friend here had another opinion.

"Just look at him. Oh, wait. I forgot you don't know anything...Let me explain. When I repaired the carbonite prison. I had that weird feeling that it was very old tech. So I checked something and found out that we are in the Republic Era and that 6 years before the Empire was established. We will talk about that later. Anyway, Jack here lucked out somehow and got a very rare body. Rare in the sense that his species is already extinct in this time. Or at least thinned out so much that only a handful of people remain. If I am not wrong he should be the last of his kind. So of course such a specimen is worth 100 of millions.", stated David and threw some facts into the room.

Ben looked at Jack and back to David. He nodded in understanding David´s points. "Then what should we do now? I already checked the coordinates we are flying to. We are only a few hours short to reach our destination. And it is that Nar Shaddaa place mentioned in the pad.", he said and revealed that he already looked into where they traveled to.

"You still ask this? Of course, there is only one thing to do. We freaking null the contract. We will deal with the aftermath later.", answered David.

Jack was already brought to a chair by David and was placed there. While those two talked he didn't say much and waited. But hearing David wanted to ack of Jack interrupted them. "Guys, could you please tell me what is going on? I want to know the details."

Both of them looked at him and explained everything.

"What a fate this body has...Well, since Ben here already gave us money we will keep our side of the contract.", said Jack after hearing their point of the story when they woke up in this world. It looked like they all had some preset backgrounds.

"What!? You want us to die again or something? Did you even listen?", reprimanded David his words.

Ben was also arching one brow. Why would he still want to deliver himself to them?

Jack only sighed and relaxed "Listen, our contractor very likely only got information about the prison. Our mission was to bring the prison, no? Then let us bring it. If they ask why there is nothing inside we will just tell them that we found it just the way it is.", explained Jack to them.

"That is idiotic. As if they would believe that.", snorted Ben himself now.

"They may not, but at least running away is even more suspicious.", talked Jack back.

David was walking back and forth while having his hand where his chin should be. It disappeared somewhere under the hood.

"Alright, you better hope we don't die. Also, we need something to hide your face. I don't want to bet on it if they recognize you. A helmet or something should do...Right, we could use those credits we got to buy you stuff when we reach Nar Shaddaa.", he said after having thought about Jack his idea.

"You as well? I thought you were scared by those slugs? What a rapid change in mind.", commented Ben.

"Ben, underestimating the Hutts is not a wise idea. We are new to this world and each step in any direction could mean bad things for us.", sighed Jack now and looked in the general direction Ben his voice came from.

"Come to think of it. Why are your eyes closed? Is that a racial feature?", asked ben back now out of curiosity. He did notice it a while ago and couldn't stop himself from asking now.

Jack chuckled when he was asked that. "No, I am just blind for a while. Its because I came out of the carbonite. Its called hibernation sickness."

"How long will that take? I guess if they find out you are blind they can easily connect the dots.", Ben asked.

"I don't know. How long do we have until our destination?", asked Jack back.

"Let's see." Ben turned back to the steering wheel and looked at something. Then he faced them again. "7 Hours."

"That is probably enough time for me to get my light back. And get some sleep. I am very tired so sorry if I go first." After that, he leaned backward and tried to sleep.

"Don't worry about that. I should get some sleep as well since I yawned as well before you came in.", dittoed Ben.

"Hmm I will do the same but first I go find some clothes for Jack that he can change in to later. Ben size should fit him. Hopefully, I can mix them together with one of my robes?" David was already thinking about some things in advance and walked out of the cockpit to do his said things.

What maximizes your communication to perfect understanding is your partly use of the Force to produce pheromones very similar to Jawa. This happens instinctively.

´Whoa! My force skills and affinity went up the roof in just minutes!´ exclaimed Jack in surprise.

[That is normal, Jack. Considering your current Force Affinity you would not even be a match for a youngling.]

´Terra...way to crush someone's joy...´

[...Your fast increase in affinity is what makes you special, Jack. But without training, there is no gain. Let's make a comparison so you understand. While you level up your skill and gain 100 points in the Force Affinity. Others would train in meditation for years to gain those points as well. Their gain would not be as fast as yours and at best only about half of your gain. It really depended on the individual but you could generally look at it like this: A baby born with a Force Affinity of 100 points is someone acknowledged as force sensitive and can be felt through the Force as such. So Jedi-Initiates have a Force affinity of 100 to 1000. From there onward they are considered Padawans. At 2000 points they are Jedi. And at 3000 points Jedi Knights. At 4000 points they are Jedi Masters and at 5000 and onward Jedi Grandmasters. Only Yoda and Palpatine reached the rank of Grandmaster in these past years. That being said, those are just numerical values given after my rough analysis. There are of course exceptions like Anakin who was far more powerful than normal younglings and later outperformed most Jedi knights even while still being only a Jedi in rank. Anyway, you are already at Padawan level in the affinity but you don't have any skills that rely on it. So even younglings may beat you easily. Having power without the knowledge of how to use it, is useless, to say the least.]

`But I thought even shooting a gun does rely on the force somewhat? Shouldn't at least my shooting be good now? Or other things?´, argued Jack back.

[That is partly correct. Do you think stormtroopers were such bad shots because they were not in tune with the Force? You still need the skill to shoot a gun. Force affinity only boosts said skill if one knows how to do it.]

´Alright, alright. It is a nice surprise nonetheless. Well, I will go to sleep now. There will be a lot of work later considering our little problem...But I feel excited for some reason...´

And just with that, he tried to get some sleep in. The slight humming of the ship somehow helped him to doze off.
