Chapter 7 - There’s an app for that...

I explained my plan for changing the dungeon to the Imps. It will require lots of excavation and restructuring. The man-hours to complete the phases will be enormous. By the way, I have an initial plan comprised of 3 phases. I'll summarize the main objectives.

1st phase)

I will have the Imps create several tunnels for different purposes. One tunnel for normal use, one for capturing intruders and one for a certain kill zone.

The first path will be a safe route for dungeon occupants to traverse through the dungeon from the entrance to lower levels. This will be the most secret path but used the most. It will provide for monsters and Demi-humans to leave if need be without having to avoid traps. It will also be the shortest distance to travel through the dungeon.

The second one is for a no lethal way to deal with the intrusion. I plan to screen invaders of the dungeon for their intent. Some invaders that can be used instead of just kill, especially females should be captured. It will also help us collect non-humans that find my dungeon for various reasons. It can also help us get outside information from captured intruders.

The last one is a deadly gambit of traps and monsters. Its sole purpose is to destroy intruders that are hostile to the dungeon. After all, dead men tell no tells...

2nd phase)

We dig the dungeon deeper and make more floors. A lot more floors. We also strengthen our defense and even change the dynamics of the killing path. If we make more floors we can change the dungeon upper levels to pull adventures into the dungeon. While the lower floors remain the certain kill part. By doing this we can increase the DP generation in the dungeon significantly.

Also, in this phase, we work hard on the population increase. I plan to increase the inhabitants both externally and internally. With only a few inhabitants within the dungeon, what can be done is directly limited. How long it takes for tasks to be completed is depending on the workforce. The more competent creatures we can acquire, the more time the work can be completed. So, we need both quantity and quality in the dungeon inhabitants for the best growth.

3rd phase)

Then, we begin the final phase, build a city and kingdom. Not a place of discrimination based on differences of species. Frankly, I think I fall in the "other" box for someone that has no type of species. After all, I am a dungeon. So, I want the place I established to be able to include everyone peaceful. It's something I'm willing to be a tyrant if necessary to bring into existence.

In essence, the ruler will be me... I guess. I frankly, don't care to rule but if I'm not in the center hub position the wheel will fall apart for sure. But only in as much as necessary for establishing a stable social system. I will be the neutral party of the government and the government head. Along with me will be the heads of the creature clans that represent their people in the government body. It will probably be feudal in nature but heads will be elected by their people or appointed by me to the position if a conflict arises.

Well, that's the ruff outline for our future dungeon. I expect that we will have to re-evaluate it many times to refine it. Back before I reincarnated, I was once a soldier in the Army. The Army had a saying, 'Create a plan for an operation, and have a plan when you have to scrape the original plan.' I set the plan and clear goals to get the organization of the dungeon to move towards a distant point. So, in the future when the current plan needs to be revised we will do so to achieve my goals.

Honestly, I don't think I'm the best qualified to be a leader. But, that is something that I did not get to choose and can't change. I understand the '1 up' principal from the Army too. It's easy to understand the concept, everyone must know how to do the job of one rank higher than themselves. In so doing, single points of failure can be limited.

In war, people die. A unit that loses someone, loses more than a 'person'. They lose capabilities; radio operators, heavy gunners, medics, leaders both commission, and non-commissioned officers. If you lose leadership, it's like a body that got stunned. Everyone becomes confused, efficiently and effectiveness is lost, which causes more casualties.

In those situations, sometimes a Private might become a Lieutenant in that moment of desperation. In the smelter of tribulation, a man's resolve and character are tested. Do you break under the pressure or become something stronger?

I understand what situation I'm in. I was placed in the dungeon heart by the goddess and then placed here. I was given some extremely powerful abilities but also received some wicked drawbacks. It will be challenging to make it through this world's survival of the fittest setting. Therefore, I choose to get into the game. Besides, it may be difficult and dangerous but it is definitely rewarding. Maybe even a little fun.

The plan for an immediate change of the dungeon's defense is something that must be done quickly. With no concrete means to prevent a dungeon raid, all our lives are in peril. Before any other improvements, the defense must be solidified.

So, the Imps got to work digging a new tunnel. I went back to my dungeon heart to surf the online store for more schematics. We need basic rooms and traps schematics to start the improvements.

After spending 10 DP on the previous loot box, I only have 90 DP remaining. Because of the limited amount DP available, I am restricted on how much I can buy. This is somewhat expected. Frankly, I'm glad the goddess gave me starting DP at all. It wasn't exactly in Her very loose contract She and I agreed to.

While thinking such things, I engage the online store app and begin looking through the items. I'm looking at the various schematics with low DP costs. There are some schematics that I have to get later because they just cost too much. The schematics function like some strategy building games I've played. After much thought, the ones I choose for now are these.

—————————————————————

Name: Tunnel Marking

Type: Holographic

Placement space: 5X5 Foot Link Blocks

Material requirement: None

Magic cost: Negligible

Required labor: None

Name: Creature Lair

Type: Room

Placement space: 5X5 Foot Linkable Blocks

Material requirement: 1 Wood, 1 cloth

Magic cost: 1

Required labor: 1

Description:

This schematic makes creating creatures habitats possible. Each lair can accommodate a specific creature's needs to live. The skill also provides lairs for creatures without special habitat needs. The bigger the lair made the more creatures that can make it their habitat.

Cost: 10 DP

—————————————————————

Name: Animal Husbandry

Type: Room

Placement space: 5X5 Foot linkable blocks

Material requirement: 2 animals (1 of each sex), 2 wood, 1 straw

Magic cost: 1

Required labor: 1

Description:

The saying 'an army can't fight on an empty stomach' is true enough, but that can also apply to dungeon dwellers. Food is a necessary requirement for all living creatures. This schematic provides the blueprint to create animal husbandry rooms for basic food products. Acquiring the animals is a requirement for establishing this room, but just about any animal and some monsters can be domesticated for food.

Cost: 10 DP

The room and trap cards I bought come to 50 DP, which brings my total remaining DP to 40. That gives me options if something changes later to buy something I can use as a fix. I don't know how readily I can get more DP. If I run dry on my available balance and catastrophe strikes, it could spell my doom. I need to complete the 1st phase in steps to ensure safety and effectiveness.

So, now I have the cards available, I just need to download them all into my consciousness. I click each card, click 'yes' to the AI validation prompt, and a stream of light shoots out of the gem into my quasi-body.

"Aaaahhhh..."(Sirus the One)

The pain is unbearable. It feels like a current of energy is running up and down my entire body. It swirls around my torso like a living creature, doing laps in my body. Strangely, mix into the pain, I feel a bizarre excitement and pleasure I haven't felt before. The first card's information I took in was only painful, but now it's different. Maybe, the dark nature of an "M" is growing inside me unconsciously. Oh... The Great Henti goddess is changing my pure soul into some crazed pervert for sure!!!!

Through an agonizingly long time, I downloaded the cards into myself. It left me in a hot mess, drawing haggard breaths and a spasming body. After regaining my composure, I reflect on the knowledge gained by the cards, and marvel at just how amazing are the goddess' super fantasy technology. It is exactly how I envisioned characters in the Matrix getting skills. After the cards were download, it's like the information was natural, or experienced? It's really weird how it just... works.

"Now, I just have to use the newly gained knowledge."(Sirus)

How someone may ask? Well, I have an app for that too. So, I click the app with my spectral hand.

"[Operator has engaged the Dungeon Majestic app, do you wish to proceed? Yes.....No]"(Core AI)

I press the "yes" button on the screen and the view goes 3rd POV. It's like my normal expanded consciousness except I now have a HOD (heads up display). The icons of the downloaded modules are available in the HOD to select. It is very much like an RTS builder, I can move freely around the mountain to build the dungeon. The goddess made this function quite user-friendly.

I proceed to layout the dungeon expansion by marking all the locations for excavation with the Dungeon Marking tool.

"This should get us started. The problem is we are critically short-handed on workers. This is a problem that needs to be fixed, but I should get the assistance of the others in finding a solution. We have to implement the fastest method to increase our workforce. I just hope I don't have to resort to that other app I've seen..."(Sirus the flagman)
