Chapter 148 - Project Restoration - Part 2: Execution

"Well, initially... um, Pharaoh and I wanted to create a Varick Star Body and open all Seven Celestial Stars at once," Rin responded as he scratched his head with a silly grin.

[Rin, are you aware that you would have to endure the weight of forty-nine mega-stars to accomplish something like that? While simultaneously needing to extract, transform, and refine energy from each star and that's only the bare minimum. Since I don't think you and Pharaoh accounted for the fact, that we are nowhere near a Varrick Star Region!]

"So, scratch that idea and pick an easier choice, Artemis," I asked even though our idea didn't sound impossible to accomplish.

[Yes, Rin for only a fool would think they could bear the weight of forty-nine mega-stars when not even a King could handle just one mega-star.]

"Okay, then what do you suggest we do, Artemis?"

[Go to a gravity chamber and refine your body under the weight of a hundred Earths and then come back and talk to me about Project Restoration. While I sort some things out with your schedule and diet, for the grueling week ahead as some idiot wants to die sooner than later.]

"Roger, sir!"

[... Just get out my face before I kill you myself, Master Rin!]

Whoosh. Thud. Click.

[Finally, some peace and silence... sigh, how do I break the news to him?]

"What news, sir?" Rin asked curiously as he stopped dead in his tracks just as he was about to leave the dorm and make his way to the training hall of FB.

"None of your business, cadet! Now skedaddle and get to work and that's an order or else!"

"My fault, sir, and it won't happen again." Rin smiled as he let out a faint chuckle.

15 minutes later...

After, leaving his dorm and walking past the cafeteria, Rin finally made it to his destination...

Ding!

"Is there anything I could help you with today, sir?" A young demi-human asked Rin, after placing down her phone with a smile.

"I was just wondering if any gravity chambers were available for training. Also, what's the highest level a gravity chamber can sustain, Ms. Sapphire?" I asked after reading her name tag.

"Could you please give me a moment, sir as I do a quick check," Sapphire said as she took out a laptop and examined room availability, before looking and answering Rin's question, "Sir, there are currently two rooms available for training on the third floor. However, they are a bit pricy. So would you like to wait until someone from the lower floors finishes their training? Also, each gravity chamber can only handle a maximum of 100x our planet's gravity; any higher, and the gravity chamber could malfunction or, worse, collapse."

"It's fine, but thanks anyway for the heads up, Sapphire. So how much would it cost to rent a room for five hours?"

"You're welcome, and it would cost 30 student credits," she said lightly as if this amount was nothing to fuss over.

"Hmm, fortunately, it's still within my budget," I replied before handing over my student ID.

Beep.

"Here you go, sir, and I wish you all the best in your training," Sapphire said as she deducted 30 credits from my account and returned my ID with a keycard for F3-R29.

"Thank you and I hope you have a lovely day, Ms. Sapphire!" I said before heading off to floor 3 room 29 to conduct some training and prepare for what Artemis has in store for me.

Sometime later...

"Okay, now this isn't too shabby, but dang is it plain," Rin muttered after walking into the all-white gravity chamber he rented for five hours, "But then again would a colorful training room bring about better results?"

I said to myself as if it was a tough question to answer, even though I'm sure everyone knew it wouldn't change anything, except the aesthetic of the chamber.

But anyway, while Rin complained about the lack of color in his temporary training room, a black orb appeared before him with three zeros on its surface, which referred to the level and degree of gravity his body was enduring.

Also, right underneath it you could see a timer that slowly ticked down with every second Rin wasted that currently said (4:57:50).

"Welp, it seems it's time to start, so let's start slow before cranking up the heat," Rin smiled as he took off his shoes and t-shirt before doing some light stretching.

A few minutes later...

'Okay, now that's over with let's seal our cultivation,' Rin thought as he tapped a few important acupoints on his body to hinder the passage of energy throughout his body. So that he wouldn't be cheating himself out of the best chance to make his body stronger than it already was.

"Now then what's the best level to start at... that wouldn't be detrimental to me yet is beneficial and still somewhat hard? Is level 5 a good place to start or should I do 10 and just say fuck it?" Rin wondered.

"I'd recommend starting at level 20, Freshman Rin Kurama?" A monotone voice said as they changed the room's gravity to 20, "Oh, and to get the best of your time here, I would recommend doing a workout regiment that consists of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 10km run."

"... thanks, but is this an invasion of privacy?" I asked as it was a bit weird to know someone could see me but I couldn't see them.

"Not really, but good luck, freshman, and if you one day manage to survive level 100 maybe you could learn who I am. Nevertheless until then just know I'm a friend and not an enemy, so relax as your secret is safe with me, haha."

"Tsk, why must females always be on some play hard-to-get type shit?!"

"Because it's fun my friend, but anywho peace and I'll see you later Rin," The ban of our existence claimed with an evil grin behind the monitor as she adjusted the chamber's gravity to level 20, before leaving to go get something to eat, 'Good luck, my little freshman.'

Thud.

"Fuck! Just why must every I met be such ruthless people," Rin complained as he was slammed to the ground and forced to stay there for a good minute.

Until he finally gained some strength to stand up and do the workout a devilish female recommended. And so began Rin's grueling training session to endure 100x Earth's gravity in under five hours...
