Chereads / Chairman of The Magic Council / Chapter 40 - For Ur

Chapter 40 - For Ur

Of course, Bourne refused. He was in puberty and even he tried to ignore it, but Ultear's charm was very big, especially that twin-tail hairstyle.

Ultear looked at Bourne's back and felt a bit disappointed when he rejected her, but at the same time, she felt even more interested in him. It might seem a bit too fast, but she had been alone in her life after all and it was her first time to have someone that she could trust. Even though she had joined a guild, it was a dark guild and she didn't have any feelings toward them, but Bourne was different. Bourne had told her the truth and how much her mother loved her, the one who was at fault was the institution which had kidnapped her.

Ultear was glad that she had destroyed the institution which had fooled her mother along with kidnapped her before.

If the institution still existed then she would come and destroy it again later.

Then after knowing that, her goal had changed. In the past, she wanted to use "Arc of Time" to return to the past when she was able to live with her mother, but after knowing the truth, she wanted to return her mother back.

If Ultear didn't know that Bourne had developed a way to return her mother back then she might go further down the wrong road, but this time, she was saved in time and soon, she would be able to live with her mother again.

Recalling Bourne, Ultear was also moved by his dedication to working by himself over the past three years to return her mother back. From this little bungalow, she could see that he had spent all of his time researching a way to undo "Iced Shell" and from their conversation earlier, she didn't even hear any complaints from his mouth. She thought that Ur's luck was very good to find Bourne as her pupil since she had never seen someone who was as talented as him in terms of water-related magic.

Ultear might be a talented magician, but she didn't think she could match Bourne, especially when Bourne was only 10 years old. She laid on the bed and thought about a lot of things, but somehow she felt lonely after he left her. Rolling around for a while, she stood up and decided to visit his room. The light had been turned off and she had to admit that this house was quite sophisticated since there was a lot of home furnishings which were connected to Lacrima.

Ultear entered his room without hesitation and saw him sleeping soundly.

"..."

Ultear moved closer and looked at him, who didn't seem to show any sign of waking up when she entered his room. Staring at his face, she poked her finger at his cheek, but he didn't open his eyes. She sighed and shook her head.

"If only I were an assassin then I could kill you now."

Ultear knew that the matter of the Land of Isvan and the source of that problem was the boy in front of her. She knew if she assassinated him then she might get a lot of money, but frankly, she didn't care much about this kingdom and if it was destroyed in an exchange of her mother then she felt that it was worth it.

Ultear continued to look at him and felt a bit speechless since this guy didn't wake up no matter how many times that she had poked his cheek. Looking at his face, she could see that he was a bit worn out and tired, but she couldn't blame him since she also had seen how hard he worked before. It is a very big responsibility, especially for a 10 year old boy. She needed to praise him for working hard over the past three years. She moved her head closer and kissed his forehead.

"Think of it as my thanks."

Ultear felt that Bourne had saved her, but then her face was pushed away before she saw him turn around and show his back toward her.

"....."

Ultear had never been treated this way before. In her guild, she had always been respected since she was very strong and she was also very beautiful (according to her heart).

"This guy...?!"

Ultear took a deep breath and calmed herself. She started to chuckle when she thought about his action before she started to yawn since she felt a bit sleepy. She was too lazy to return back to her room and entered his bed to sleep. She closed her eyes and wondered how long had it been that she slept this soundly.

---

Bourne opened his eyes and felt something on his body. He turned his head and saw Ultear who was sleeping while hugging him. He yawned and thought that he might be too tired.

To find a way to return Ur back, he has been working 12 hours a day for the past 3 years without a break. He had often doubted himself, but when he thought about his life with Ur, he kept continuing and in the end, he had found it, a way to return Ur back.

However, Bourne hadn't tested this solution yet and he needed a geniua pig to do it. He couldn't move away since he needed to check Ur's condition everyday. He thought that he was too tired and thought that it was a dream that Ultear was sleeping beside him. He yawned and continued to sleep since he had decided to slow down his work for a bit today.

---

Walking together, Bourne sent Ultear out of the place. He was very proficient at Ice Make magic and it was very easy for him to create something which was able to send Ultear out from this place shortly.

"Ice Make: Jeep!"

Molding magic became strong with the creativity of the caster, in the past, Bourne tried a lot of things randomly from his world and it was successful. He drove his ice jeep and sent Ultear out from this ice desert.

"How many people do you need?" Ultear asked.

"The more the better, but don't bring it too much at time since it is troublesome to take care of them."

Bourne couldn't use all of the guinea pigs on the same day and would use them for the next day, but at that time, he also needed to take care of them so they wouldn't lose their life in this dangerous place.

"Is there any requirement?"

"It should be a criminal and male."

Bourne had dirty his hands to save Ur, and he didn't want to dirty Ultear's hands too, but he was also helpless since he couldn't move from his place. If there was a lot of criminals in this country then it would be easy, but it was hard to tell who was criminal and who wasn't. If he remembered well, there should be a human trafficking who specialized in selling criminal to be guinea pigs for a magician, but he couldn't contact them afterall when he needed to stay in this place.

"Isn't it better to be female?" Ultear asked, since her mother was obviously a female.

"There's no difference between male and female, what I need to see is the proceeds of transformation of the caster to the ice and to see whether there are side effects from the solution which I've thought so that Ur can return back without problem."

Bourne hadn't seen the transformation process of the caster of "Iced Shell" into ice since he fainted that day and there were a lot of things which he needed to observe to check his theory. Whether female or male, he wasn't sure, but he felt uncomfortable to use female to test his theory.

"Alright, I'll get them for you." Ultear nodded.

"....."

Hearing her unperturbed answer, Bourne felt uncomfortable.

It only took them a short time before they arrived at the edge of the ice wasteland and Ultear stepped out from the ice jeep.

Ultear was about to get the guinea pig for him, but stopped when she heard her name being called.

"Tear."

"What's wrong?"

Bourne felt uncomfortable asking Ur's daughter to get him a human to test his theory and at the same time he was worried. But words stuck in his mouth and he could only say, "Be safe."

Ultear smiled and said, "Stop with that expression, when you send someone, you should give them a smile."

Bourne sighed, then smiled. "Be safe and return safely."

"I'll come back shortly."

Ultear walked away and had to admit that it felt good when there was someone who would be waiting for her back.

Looking at Ultear's back, Bourne hardened his heart before he returned to check Ur's condition again. 'Three years'. He had promised to return back Ur in three years so he would do his best to do it.
