Chapter 41 - Lingering feelings

This little girl was already at death's door and she dared to negotiate?! What an incredible demonstration of guts. Her courage was impressive. His admirative eyes lingered on her before he started laughing.

"This Lord promises you."

He embraced her and flew her to his nest, his base of operation. It was inside a mountain which had an hidden valley. Both the entrance of the base and the mountain were protected by an illusion.

Only people that had shared or tasted his blood could enter. All the others would not notice anything different from this mountain to another. When people's eyes would landed on the entrance they could only see hard rock. Would they want to touch it, they would also only feel hard rock. When their eyes would look at the mountain, they would see a high summit surrounded by dark clouds. However, looking at it, they would feel this creepy feeling they shouldn't get too close, an inexplicable conviction the location was extremely dangerous to them. So, they would avoid the area.

Thus, for 10 000 years, his clan survived in this valley, well protected from harm.

He carefully put her down on his bed and checked her state. Though she had life threatening injuries, she was still hanging. Her life vitality wasn't extinguished yet.

" Good Good... she is a fighter! She also has grit " He smiled happily.

He went on stroll to clear out his mind and never expected to find such an interesting being. He took a few moments to look carefully at her.

She was clearly still a child. In human years, she would become an adult soon. Compared to his long life, she was barely an infant who just stumbled in the world. Humans were really cruel to their kind.

Her long hair was now tangled with dirt and leaves. Her face was greyed, wounded and bruised. On her expression, it was easy to read she was suffering great pains. Her body was also broken. Huge patches of blue were appearing. Blood was still flowing. He could see she had some of her bones broken : legs, arms, ribs. Looking at all that was done to her, he was surprised she could still be alive.

He sighed. "They really wanted to kill her. Who's wrath had she triggered?"

"Let's work on healing her injuries first and ask questions after."

He took a knife out then pricked his finger. A few drops of his blood pearled out and fell into a small bowl, shining brilliantly like melted rubis on the dark wood. He then poured some liquid, and added a spoon of honey. Holding her head carefully, he brought the bowl to her mouth so she could drink the medicine. But she resolutely kept it closed.

He had to hurry to let her drink this or her vitality would completely deplete and she would die. Now, there wasn't much time left, he couldn't afford to hesitate. So he decided he would fed her the medicine directly. He brought the bowl to his mouth, and kissed her, letting the precious liquid glide into her throat.

Few instants later, the external injuries started to heal.
