Bonus chapter
Halloween edition...
It's been exactly two weeks since we escaped that forest and quite frankly I was glad to be at home where I could do as I pleased. Today was the next day I had circled on my calendar after Friday the 13th... Today was Halloween...
I woke and stretched a bit as my alarm clock rang in my ears... Its tone was annoying but I just laid in bed for the few minutes it went off. I waited for a few more minutes before getting off my bed and rubbing my eyes as I walked towards the bathroom.
I did my usual routine of getting ready for school but for some reason I felt as if I was still dreaming. It just didn't feel right, something felt off... it was as if I was missing something.
I looked at the bottom of my dresser and saw the gold pair of heels which served to remind me that everything that had happened before actually did happen and was not a "dream."
The strangest objects that I had so far was those golden heels and the necklace that Eva had given me. I had no idea what I was supposed to do with those items. I wonder if I can add "Felix" to my list of strange objects too?.. I thought, because he was pretty strange.
One minute he doesn't want to help me and the next minute he is all over me, I thought, I guess Eva was right when she said he liked me. Although, I kind of already knew that by the way he acted towards me... He was always protective and loving since I first met him which wasn't too long ago. But he left me in the dark as he still didn't tell me what on earth was going on.
I stared through the window as I thought about this. What is it that Felix couldn't tell me? Why was my life in danger? What was happening to me? Who was he? Was he hiding something?.. All different thoughts ran through my mind as I continued to stare into space.
Suddenly I heard a strangely familiar voice... "Alice... Alice... Wake up..." Said the voice that faintly echoed into the distance.
What on earth was happening?.. I thought. Was I dreaming? Was I still asleep? Was it Felix?..
I looked around my bedroom to try and pin point where the voice was coming from but it seemed as though the voice was coming from my head. Was I trapped in my own dream?.. I thought as I pinched myself so that I would be able to wake up but it didn't seem to work.
I looked around the room and saw my bed the way I had left it when I heard the voice again but this time it echoed from what sounded like the lounge area. I walked towards the lounge to see Felix leaning over the couch... he seemed to be crouched over someone. I took a few steps forward to get a better look of what he was crouching over... and to my shock I saw that he was crouching over "me."
Looks like school will have to wait. Said the sarcastic voice in my head.
"Did I die?.." I questioned myself out loud as I looked at my lifeless body that was laid on the couch and then to my hands that were in front of me, which looked rather normal. I expected my hands to be faded if I was a ghost or something but no, they were exactly the same.
Felix then turned around, as if he could hear me. He looked straight into the direction my voice echoed from. Can he hear me?.. I thought. Looking towards him I saw that his eyes had locked in place with mine. Can he see me?.. I thought again.
After a few minutes of him locking eyes with me or at least the ghost me, he spoke... "You're not dead..." He replied.
Wait, what?!.. I thought. So, I guess that answers my questions since there was no denying that he could definitely see me.
"Wait," I said still looking towards him, "I'm not dead?.."
"Yes..." he said, "you're not dead, your soul is just not attached to your body at this moment."
"But my body isn't alive..." I said.
"No," Felix said, "your body is just resting."
"Okay..." I said in a bit of relief but the question that still boggled my mind was how on earth could he see me if I was a, as he says, soul that was out of my body.
"Felix?.." I questioned him.
"Yes?.." He asked as he waited for my next question.
"How are you able to see me if I am a soul?.." I asked him as he looked at me with furrowed eyebrows.
"Well, I can't exactly tell you..." he said with a knowing look as he scratched the back of his neck, "but I guess, you could say my eyes aren't exactly normal."
"So, when will I be able to go back into my body?.." I asked him as I looked through the doorway of the kitchen to see what the time was on the clock that hung there.
"The necklace..." he said, "if you touch the pendant you can go back into your body."
"Okay..." I said a bit hesitantly as I wasn't sure if it would work or not.
I walked slowly towards my body that was laid in a peaceful slumber on couch. He was right, I wasn't dead because I could see my chest raise and fall as my body was breathing.
The necklace was still attached to my neck and the pendant laid in place on my chest. I walked nearer until I finally reached the couch my body laid on.
I crouched over my body as I looked at the pendant. It was not glowing but as soon as I brought my hand nearer and nearer towards it, its glow came back. It was so bright and blue as it shone and got brighter and brighter as I brought my index finger nearer towards it so that I could touch it.
Upon touching it, its brightened blue light engulfed me as the room lit up in sparks of blue light that erupted like fireworks and then...
*Breathe* I inhaled a large amount of air as my lungs expanded and my eyes immediately shot open. I took another breath of air as I got myself to sit up right before calling for Felix.
"Felix?.." I questioned him as I saw that he was no longer in the room.
I took another breath and then I heard footsteps coming from the kitchen. A shadow hung over the doorway of the kitchen to the lounge area as the person approached the passageway.
Felix's head then came into view and then his entire figure... He was tall and muscular but his figure was slender. His hair a spiky brown or black, of which I wasn't sure for certain and his eyes were a bright emerald green as they lit up in the dim passageway.
He was looking at me as he stood there with a glass of water in his hand. After staring at me in silence for what felt like years, his feet finally began to lift up as he walked towards me and seated himself just beside me.
"Water?.." He asked me questioning if I wanted some. "I figured you would be thirsty."
"Yes... thank you..." I replied as I slowly began to sip on the cold glass of water he had placed in my hand. It was cool and refreshing as it went down my dry throat and my dehydration seemed to have disappeared.
For a few minutes we just sat there in silence as I drank the water and took in my surroundings and Felix well, I don't know exactly what he was doing... but I am certain he was looking at me again. I turned my head to face him as I placed the glass on the coffee table in the lounge and a droplet of water ran down from the glass onto the table.
I made full eye contact with him as I brought myself to speak, breaking the silence... "Felix, can you please tell me what the heck is going on?.." I asked him because I couldn't stand not knowing and I was also really itching to find out what was going on after what had just happened to me.
To be continued...
