This Christmas will be different and more special than before. I plan to take Vincent out in the town. He would tell me stories on how every Christmas, his parents would take him out to look at the lights at night. I want him to relive those happy memories once more. I ran downstairs to see boxes piled up in the living room and already knew what was to come. Christmas is one of the best times of the year, to Vincent. He decorates everything from head to toe. I spot Vincent's head poking out from the pile of Christmas decorations. He glared at me for a moment "Where is your Christmas outfit? I left it on your door this morning. Picking out every piece to it was hard".
"I was just coming to check up on you" I responded. Vincent shooed me off, so I made my way up the stairs and back to my room.
Moments later I came back down the stairs and saw the pleasant look on Vincent's face "I'm so proud of that outfit" he said walking up to me "It suits your figure well". I felt a little blush creep onto my face and turned away "U-um.. thanks" I mumbled. He took my hands into his and guided me to the kitchen "let's make some cookies together" he smiled. Vincent gave me an apron and helped me tie it around my waist. He takes out all the ingredients and starts mixing them all into a bowl. Watching him work was amazing, him using his firm muscles to stir was eye-catching.
Vincent looked over at me "Ready? We will make little balls out of the dough," He explained. I nodded with a smile as he put some dough in my hands. I rolled it all in the palm of my hands to make sure it was a perfect ball. Vincent started speaking out of the blue "Sky, you never told me what happened with your parents. Aren't you ready to talk about it now?" he asked. "Oh, my mother was amazing and beautiful. She did whatever she could for me and my father,".
"Sounds like a wonderful woman," Vincent smiled. I nodded in agreement "She was,".
"What about your father?" He asked.
I took in a deep breath. "Um well... My father... uh... he... um... he is... he is a bad man, and he did terrible things to me and my mother," I struggled to let out.
"like what?" I could hear Vincent's voice getting deeper and more serious. I took a moment before responding. "My dad used to be a good person... but he fell victim to drugs and alcohol and changed completely... He... uh... he used... to um... abuse me and my mother, as he would... um..." I swallowed my words thinking about when he touched my mother in certain places. That memory still scared me.
"It's fine, you don't have to say it," Vincent added. "sorry..." I mumbled quietly. "Don't be Sky," he pulled me into his chest tightly "I shouldn't have brought it up, it's a happy day after all". I laid my head against his chest and stayed there just to relax. The doorbell was then rung, and it caught both me and Vincent off guard. We have never heard that doorbell ring in years. It even caught the servants off guard, they didn't even know what to do. Vincent walked out of the kitchen and stepped up to answered the door "Who is it?" he said in a deep, stern, and intimidating voice. I slowly walked out of the kitchen and peeked out from behind Vincent.
My heart stopped for a moment and my breath faded. "I am here for my son, Sky," The man at the door said. The demon himself in full body. Vincent's eyes narrowed at the man "I have no clue who this sky you speak of". The man stepped closer as Vincent stepped back "I know who you are and what you are. If you want to keep this house and my son safe, you will tell where he is" he said in a stone-cold voice. I could tell Vincent was nervous even though he didn't flinch. Vincent was a total softy on the inside and he hated being yelled at. I had no choice but to step in but I played dumb. "Who is this man?" I asked Vincent, and the man grabbed my arm tightly "We're going home," he said. I pulled my arm away from him "I am not going anywhere with you!".
The man grumbled "Has he brained washed you or something? I am your father! You obey me!" he yelled. "I do not have to listen to a word that comes from your mouth" I responded as I stepped back and slammed the door on his face. It felt great to slam something in his face for once. "The devil himself..." I heard Vincent mutter. Therefore, I don't enjoy talking about, thinking, or dreaming of my father. I knew he would find me one day... I was just hoping it wasn't this day... I was afraid to take Vincent out at the moment so we played games for a few hours.
Like always, spending time with Vincent, the clock goes faster. It was late, and I wanted to go to town before everything closed. I stood up and walked to the front door "Sky?" I heard Vincent's soft tone. "Why are you putting on your coat? Are you leaving?" he asked me with sad eyes. I nodded "Yes, I am leaving but I am leaving with you. Get your coat on, I have a surprise for you" I smiled at him. Vincent looked confused but didn't say a word back, he just did as told. I put my gloves on and was about to walk out of the door when I heard a fake cough. I turned to see Vincent holding a scarf "Forgetting something?" he asked.
"Vincent, I don't nee-" before I could even finish, he threw the scarf around the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. Our faces were inches apart "Humans have fragile bodies. I don't want you to get sick" his voice deep but sweet and had my heart beating faster.
