Chapter 4 - Three

I woke up because someone was shaking my shoulder softly.

"Hey, wake up!", I heard David's voice right beside me. Still groggy I sat up and tried to focus my sight on him. Thanks to my dream I was kind of without orientation and needed some time to connect David, my room and the delicious aroma of coffee.

"You wanted to know if I already had an idea of my luggage for the excursion... Oh yes, what do you think about my newest literary baby steps?" I asked as soon as I could start to sort my thoughts while sipping coffee. I sat next to David on my bed with my ankles crossed. But before he could answer, I continued:" I haven't thought about what to pack. Only that I'll bring short clothes with and perhaps two or three sweaters or cardigans since we want to visit the Vatican and I'm quite sure there will be restrictions on the clothes..."

David was grinning and said:"I could have thought about this too... So about your story: Up till now I like the development, you just started writing on it, right? Do you know which direction it will take?"

"Not really. I had a dream about this first scene and thought why I shouldn't write it down."

Now we both were grinning at each other and then David went with his hand past me and fished my little block of paper out of under a stack of books. He handed it to me and went to search one of my many pencils hidden all over my room. This was a difficult task because tidying up my room wasn't exactly my fort, so it was very chaotic in here... chaos without boundaries. While David tried to find a pencil, I was drinking the coffee and then I went through the block to find a piece of paper without scribbles or something like that.

Then David gave me a felt-tip pen and I started to take notes about things I already decided on (Names of the protagonists, their ages, how they are related to each other) and some ideas for the plot. At the same time I was discussing some points with David, who was reading over my shoulder and added some ideas himself. It was actually really interesting to hear his thoughts. We had very different ideas and could discuss hours about a theme but he always gave new points of view to several details. That was also the reason why I asked him to read my stories and to comment on them.
