Now David had to grin a bit, even if a bit forced.

"Want me to come with you?", was my next question right before we were at the front door. He only shook his head and laid his hand on my shoulder to show his gratitude.
"I'm here for you!", I murmured to say goodbye, he nodded and went to his car. There he turned back to me after unlocking and opening the car and waved his hand. I waved back and closed the door only after he had driven away.
