Chen Yi sat on stool in front of mirror. Her back expose as she comb her long silver hair. I was getting agitated at her slow pace even though i knew it was my fault. "How about you were this dress? I promise this is the last time I will pick one out." She glance at it before sighing. It was one of those open back with lace straps covering the shoulder blades. It was black thing that some store clerk told me was new trend. Showed tons of skin for bold and powerful women. Had matching undergarments with clips to connect them. Chen Yi gave me a thumbs up as she applied eye shadow and black lipstick. Black streaks appeared in her curly hair and she put on the stuff with more skill than she should have had. She had many quirks that was strange but Uncle Luo, who is wiser. Said she was just a genius. Nothing would be exceptionally hard for her. It was sad because I knew it was true.
I was still struggling to gain that last threshold to crossover into Divine realm. She overachieve it by become a rare embodiment of ice Dao. I broke out of this thought process. I smiled as Chen Yi posed for me. She had such an award winning smile that brighten up my day. "You look utterly stunning as always." I grabbed her hand and ran out the house. She laughed as I tossed her into the car. I slide into the driver seat and hit the ignition button. It roared as it turned on. Well maybe because I gas it a couple times. It lifted off the ground and I took us into the entertainment district. We were going to one of my favorite places. The Arena. It was a very large indoor coliseum. Someone use spatial magic to expand the inside so it could hold up to ten arenas and ten times as many lounges area. The money going in and out of here was many times higher than anywhere else. It also connected to several other arenas in other layers. So you could find many types of people there. From real sword masters to the hidden rogues. I was about to throw open the door when she grabbed my hand. She had on such a serious face for such angelic face.
I stifle my excitement to hear some grave news. However, she hit me with a bombshell. "Would you like to have a family? I mean, like a kid that is all ours?" I was only confused for a second before I glance at her stomach. She had to be shitting me, right? How could two girls get pregnant? I mean besides the fact that we had trinkets to do things outside of nature but that shouldn't produce a child. My eyes slowly dropped down to the ring that Uncle Luo made for me because the necklace hinder my fighting ability. No way! "Please don't tell me you are pregnant? I am still fighting to cross the threshold. I cannot be burden down with a child." I ramble on for a bit and her expression remain calm and cool but I could feel her sadness. It was literally physical emotions for someone who hadn't consolidated their power yet. I cannot believe she was ready to have a family. She just started her period not to long ago. Fuck, I am so stupid! I completely ignored that fact. Her uncle loves doing experiments on beast. So why wouldn't he do them on willing test subject. Plus he was a genius who created dozens of arts. Many of them were for body experts. I turned around and took a deep breath. Heavens, I am stupid. I should seen it coming. She had eternity to grow in power now that she cross the field and she knew I was going to make it. She trained me. All I lack is experience which I was getting now. "I didn't find out until week ago when i felt sick in the morning. I just thought I ate something bad before Xu Yan told me." I gripped the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white. Damn! Damn! I threw open the door. "Can we talk about this later? No offense but I know you want him or her. I want to support you but this is big decision for us." She didn't say anything as she got out. We walk towards the arena and I tried to put my arms around her but she push me away. The frosty aura coming from her made it all worse. I curse as I was thinking about my sex life more than her feelings. I mean, when the kid born. I won't get many more chances to fuck whenever I wanted. I grabbed her shoulder as we crossed the road. I smiled as Amber and Tim stood up to greet my lovely wife. They were additions to my team. When we first went out we got lost. So we hired guides and they work out perfectly. Giving us range options when two of us were basically tanks, as they call it. And I was melee damaged. While I could attack at range, that was limited to twenty meters around me. Tim was an archer and his wife was powerful mage. Tim was so quick to shake hands with my girl. I couldn't help raising the corner of my lips.
"Wow, she was more beautiful than you told us." I glance at Chen Yi who put on such a gentle vibe that I almost took her to the bathroom. "I have heard so much about you, Mister Timothy. She has expressly told me that I should thank you for the new tricks she wants to use all the time." Tim eyes widen as he coughed and jerk his hand back. He flex his fingers a few times while laughing nervously. "Yeah, totally not my fault. She ask and I told her where to find it. I had no idea she would attempt it." I dropped onto my couch and stretch my arms out like I was king. "Of course, I would. You said only porn stars were capable of doing it and well. I have something much better." Chen Yi eyes widen before the temperature dropped by several degrees. "I mean, I have an angel that descended from the divine realms to save such a filthy beast like myself." I coughed as I look away. Jin Wuying look rather boorish as always. Not bad looking but kind of muscular. Her date was delicate little flower though. Not surprising that she took after her master. However, Liang Shui surprised me with his date. She was a naturally beauty and had an aura that could compete with his in every sense. She stood up in her tight jeans and t-shirt. She held out a hand. "I am Eliza James, fire mage, and westerner. Nice to meet you." Chen Yi shook her hand by grasping just the tips of her fingers. Amber was up next and she went in for a hug but I was fortunate enough to stop her. Everybody was confused before Chen Yi explains.
"My body has no body heat and the air around it could freeze your body. It's why I stay inside a lot. To avoid unfriendly things happening from touchy people." Chen Yi dropped into my side, crossing her legs as she lean against me. I noticed right away how her hand rested on her stomach. Little hints I seen from other women who have subconscious habit to reinforce themselves that they actually were pregnant. It was good thing I resolved the situation or things could have gotten ugly before long. We will just talk later about it. I turned to Tim with shit face smile.
"So who are we betting on and what are the stakes?" Tim waved his hand and holographic screen appear before us. It was in curve box shape so everybody had equal satisfying view. Two fighters stats appeared in our purview and I frown. Two little ants? This wasn't even thrilling. I click to see their previous fights and frowned. This was utterly barbaric. No real skill. They were just using different ability to compensate. I started seeing this pattern a lot among the younger generation. Whoever had the baddest ability was the coolest and strongest. As Chen Yi says all the time, strength doesn't reflect decor. Someone could be stronger without flashy abilities. It all comes down to who has the fastest ability or skill. If a warrior could close in on a mage while he was chanting a tier four spell that took seven seconds to complete. Then it was game over. Of course, she beat that into all of us. Not to waste time once we decided to kill someone and never, ever analogy with our enemies or people who want to kill us. Chen Yi pointed at the scrawny lad. "Bet on him. His skills take less time and while not as powerful. If he connects enough times he will win. Plus he has grade b defensive artifact. While the other lad has grade f artifact and all his abilities can be considered grade c." I did as she said.
Tim raised his eyebrows. "What are those grades about?" Jin Wuying and Liang Shui didn't waste any time following my lead and betting on the scrawny lad. "Grades are just the way master categories affects." Liang Shui spoke while going through odds. "They both have same tier artifacts but the skinny kid has better defense while lacking overall offensive power. However, if he chains them together like he shows he is capable of. Then he will win though it will be close."
Eliza was the only one to catch the term, 'Master'. "Master?" Liang Shui smiled while showing way too much reverences towards Chen Yi. "Eh, she trained me from little peasant into the warrior I am now. You can say she is like a mother for me." He glance at Jin Wuying who grunted in approval. Eliza look interested and I figured she came from some family clan. Amber lean forwarded interested. "Wait, you telling me that this angel doll is capable fighter and teacher? I can't believe it! Not with the way BQ describes her." Amber eyes look up as she touch her chin. "What did she say again? Super geeky genius type? Or something." I coughed but Chen Yi wasn't paying it any attention. She was focused on some kind of blueprint on her quantum computer watch. I laughed as Tim took a drink to avoid such a sensitive topic of girls fight. But who would expect for Amber to be ignored. Considering before Chen Yi showed up, she was most beautiful woman in the group. Her ego was overly inflated. Now, not only was she out dress but paled in comparison. However, Eliza was nosy and I tuned them out to get ready to watch an epic let down fight.
Chen Yi Pov
I sighed as these old hags tried to drag me down to their level. They soon gave up when they realized I wasn't responding. I was focusing on helping some programmer build a virtual reality game. He was aiming for peer realism and the reward for helping him was initial twenty percent of sales. I found it challenging and I wanted something to do when Bai Qiu left the house. "Can you order some food? I am starving." Bai Qiu look at my stomach before her face flush with guilt. "Sorry, I totally forgot about that." She pulled up a menu and I glance at the fight to see it going the way I predicted. The scrawny guy practice with his sword and had basic while the other guy was relying more on his brute strength and abilities. If the scrawny lad had better foundation he would be able to deflect the attacks more and receive less attacks. However, he was going to win because it takes more energy to attack than to defend.
I turn my attention away and look at the next fights. You know what, I haven't fought in a long time. Why don't I join a few matches? Bai Qiu look at my screen as I was creating a cover name. She moved the screen to the side. Which I didn't know was possible. "You are most definitely not going on stage. You don't need that kind of active stress right now." I rolled my eyes and reach for the screen but she moved it further out my way. "I am serious Yi. Xu Yan message said that you can't deal with any stress right now." I blinked and look at the message she showed me. That old hag was a bit annoying. "It is only a virtual body fighting. Plus none of these fighters can even make me warm up." I tried pouting instead but Bai Qiu just laughed and kissed my forehead. "Perfect. There is absolutely no need for you to fight trivial fighters who will only sadden you because there is no challenge." I sighed and lean away from her. Resting my head on the couch arm as I kick my legs across her lap. "Asshole." She began massaging my thighs and I noticed the other women looking on.
It didn't take much longer for the fight to end. Food happen to coincide with the ending to bring the coming. Conjuring my own chopsticks. I ate the heavily season pho while listening to their boasting. I sneakily finished the registration but I knew I didn't escape Bai Qiu attention all the way. She wasn't as focus on the conversation as she was on feeling every minute change in my body temperature. I smiled as I was slotted for next fight against an expert swordmaster. Jumped up and eased out of my dress. Everybody eyes went wide as I conjured a more free flowing dress. I changed with a bit of added unnecessary movement to add flair to the already awkward atmosphere. I created a crystal mask and grabbed Bai Qiu sword. She sighed as she place bet on me.
"We are going to have a talk about changing in front of Jin Wuying." I rolled my eyes as I took off my slippers. "I doubt she would last long. I'm not as warm and fuzzy to everybody. Only those who tried to bully me when i was only eight." Eliza spit out her drink. "And you are how old now?" Liang Shui laughed. "Would you believe it if we told you that girls, where we are from, get married at the age of 14 to 16?" Tim and Amber made an audible choking sound. While Eliza look confused. "So she is 14?" Bai Qiu folded my dress up as I walk to the door. "No, she about fifteen now I think. We all aren't that much older than 17 or 18. Well Bai Qiu is about to turn 19." Eliza look at Liang Shui with myriad of complex feelings. Amber spoke up for her. "Where we are from, people don't get married until they are 18. Not even considered an adult until then. It is unfathomable for a child to be engage in that kind of relationship. Frown upon really. Definitely for an adult and child to be in a relationship." I was laughing my ass off as I stepped onto the ring.
The guy I was facing was some old man with long sword. Viking patterns. He bowed towards me before lowering his body stance. He grasp his sword with two hands. I unsheathed Bai Qiu sword and gave it few practice swings before I began walking towards the fellow. His face shown a bit of confusion as I held the double edge Jian in one hand and the sheath in other. He didn't hesitate to use his longer reach to rain blows down upon me. I couldn't necessary feel the water droplets in this virtual space but I could see his muscles tensing as he prep to swing. My strength wasn't what I hope it would be but I didn't try blocking every strike. I was just luring him into a pattern he was comfortable with. He didn't even realized he made a mistake as the sheath snapped forward like patience viper. I had to give it to the man as his reaction speed was excellent. He managed to disperse much of the kinetic force but failed to stabilize his body as my next attack came. The blade itself curve around his blocking sword and prick his neck. He glided back barely getting out of reach. I sighed as I was going to hear about this so called trivial fighters. I didn't realize how much emphasis this world fighters place on combat efficiency.
I growl and launch myself at him. Using a fancy array of attacks to dull his sense and put him on guard. Utilizing his strength to increase my own attack speed. Every parry of his would send me into flips or spins which sprouted four to five attacks in blink of an eye. The man had such a look of concentration on his face that I believe he would burst a vein if anything unsavory happen. II was considering flashing him for the laughs. However, he was slowing down and the sheath managed to sneak in and open a gash on his inner thigh. Follow by his left bicep. Then two quick cuts in his right arm pit. Another cut to his left wrist follow by me piercing his throat as his weapon clang to the ground. He look at me with confusion on his face. He was probably confused as to how I was able to make my blade curve but that was just trick. When you forge a blade for flexibility and its hardness. You could do the movie like tricks. This blade could bend up to twenty-two degrees.
When I returned to the room, Bai Qiu was arguing with Liang Shui about the technique I used. I just plopped down on the couch and dropped my mask into my lap. "That was harder than I thought." Jin Wuying was quick with her request. "Can you fight me? I have progress but I think I am lacking something." I nodded and left for the capsules again.
Jin Wuying stood opposite of me with spear in her hand. I had similar weapon. I fancy snakes. So a lot of my fighting styles were base on their movement. So when she came at me with her boorish brute method. Sending out half a dozen strikes in a blink of an eye. I could only smirk as I caused the spear in my hand to bend in awkward way that somehow slapped Wuyings' attacks away. My spear shot out quickly like a tail swipe. Wuying didn't fail my expectations as she block it and sent an attack quicker than sparrow dive. I spun to the side as it tore through my dress. My spear as parallel to my body as I spun before slamming to stop. My body thrusting forward onto my right foot as my arms rolled out. The spear speed was equivalent of unsuspecting victim to cobra strike. Wuying still managed to block it even though she stepped back a few steps. I growled as I couldn't put much strength into a spear. I just didn't have the body or strength for it. I tossed it aside and crack my knuckles. "Sorry about this but I have a lot of frustration I need to get out." With that, i shot forward. Wuying didn't speak as she attack. Her spear forming an orbit of attacks and defensive blocks. She kept me outside of striking range. It was a perfect blend of offensive and defensive and was driving me crazy. She added a spin to the pole when I grabbed on it. Anytime my feet left the ground, she would attack me fiercely. It got to the point that I couldn't get an attack in. It seems I am rusty since I been living a life of creating weapons instead of slaughtering my enemies.
I jumped back and conjured my most used tool. Two hammers. Wuying got serious as energy cover her body as intent begin leaking from my aura. My speed increase many times as I started using my qi. Only to enhance my body. Like last victim, she fell into my rhythm even though she tried to break it but my hammers help added to my speed. If she block my hammers, the force from being push back by the body of the spear would push me into even faster spin. Wuying had to dance around to keep me from landing more than just glancing blows. Sweat was pouring down her face but her resistances was only making me more excited. She focus on purely defending. Looking for that moment when she could strike. However, i never let up. My body was burning from the effort but I force it to go faster. It wasn't until I added minute change just before the hammer hit the spear body that it broke. She was quick enough to step back and only get scrapes. However, I follow through and turn that into over head double hammer strike. She curse as she let me in too close when her spear broke. She rolled to the side and my pace slowed down as I had to chase her down. She no longer tried to block me physically. She would dodge and as she focus on hammers of her own. Then she met me strike for strike which was off putting for me. I couldn't go for blow for blow. So I changed the hammers into Jian sword and her eyes widen as the block she expect wasn't there. My blade curve around her hammerhead. Leaving a nasty gash on her forearm. She was quick to close the wound and conjure shield and short sword. I followed it up with scythe, my signature weapon
She tried controlling me but my reach extended past hers and I was faster. I went in for a kill shot when she was too slow to respond to me spinning to her right. Right past her shield arm. However, I didn't expect her to catch my scythe on the edge of her shield. I conjured hammer and slammed it into her shield. Denting it and getting a loud cry of pain from her. I turned into a little tornado as I spun around. She rolled out the way and summon a cross bolt. My eyes widen as she smirk and shot me. I let loose the hammer at the same time. We both tried to dodge but her bolt connected with my shoulder. While my hammer caught her leg. I was definitely going to cheat now. With a wave of my hand, thousands upon thousands of spears formed in the air. Without any suspense, they descended. I might not be able to go head to head with internal experts but I could definitely insta-kill them.
Wuying look at me with complicated eyes as we walk back to the room. She paused at the door. "I figured out what is different about your fight with that swordmaster." I was curious about her opinion. She gave me hooded smile as she touch my stomach. "You are pregnant, right? You kept protecting all fight. Which is why you had a harder time fighting us. You didn't want to take any hits to the stomach. Before you wouldn't even care about those small injuries." I raised an eyebrow and thought about it. Eh, not being so reckless isn't a bad thing. "According to Xu Yan, I am four or maybe five months pregnant. Sometimes, you can feel her kicking." Wuying eyes widen. "How? I didn't think those trinkets was able to replicate the whole process." I shrugged. "I think Uncle Luo may have made her new trinket. He understands human body better than I care to. Plus I had my period like a week after we came here and she never really takes a break from being intimate. Like every night and sometimes long into the next day." I sighed at the shit storm I got myself in. Though if it was me in past, i probably would have instantly killed it. I probably wouldn't even allow myself to be in this situation. I relish dominance but now. I just don't care enough to be overly dominate. There was a reason I was embodiment of the Dao of water. Gentle and compassionate when the time was right.
"Let's go in before she thinks I'm sleeping with you or something." Wuying look away. "It wouldn't be a bad thing would it? She sleeps with Cai Jie. You should be able to sleep with someone else. We don't even need to sleep together. Just relax and chill." I laughed and gave her peck on her cheek. "We can chill and relax." They were most definitely getting more modern. Their language and patterns were changing.
Bai Qiu pulled me into her arms. "I got horny just watching you." She whisper in my ear. I was more tired than horny. Yawning, I lean into her embrace. "I am actually tired. How about I meet you back at home? You can hang out with the boys for a while longer?" Bai Qiu released me. "Sure thing. Wuying, take her home." Wuying nodded as she got up. Her date look like she wanted buried herself as she sent shy glances my way. I was kind of confused why Wuying pick her but I didn't ask questions as I set in the back. Watching street lamps go by. Wuying dropped the girl off first. Giving her hug and kiss before we headed home. "She from a small family. Kind of wild in the bed but shy in front of others. Fiercely opinionated alone though. Drives me nuts when we go out on dates as she kind of in that stage where she wants to experiment first." I nodded. Half listening. "Have you heard that because of two high level mages, the surrounding area is safer. Making this bigger destination for families looking to make a move ahead of others. Soon we will be getting an influx of people. Walls have already expanded to accommodate them." She talk about the latest news all the way home. Somehow, i ended up falling asleep. I really must be weak.
