"Ah!" Lu Meili screamed on top of her lungs, almost hysterically which greatly alarmed Long Cheng. She was still laying on his arms before she suddenly trembled and started crying.
He immediately returned to his mortal form before shaking Lu Meili to wake her up as carefully as he could, "Meili? What is going on with you? Wake up!" He said voice laced with panic, afraid that whatever was happening to her was all his fault.
Lu Meili did not open her eyes. She was making sounds of discomfort but not screaming anymore, it felt like she was in great pain. Her breathing was laboured like she was having a hard time doing so. Then she suddenly grabbed his arms and held it tightly, her nails biting into his skin.
"Mother... Mother… Where are you?" Lu Meili was consistently murmuring through her sleep. There were beads of sweat on her forehead, clearly showing her discomfort.
