Chapter 9 - Nine

By the time I got home I was exhausted, not so much because of work but because of my emotions. Working throughout the day kept my mind away from my predicament. The moment I got out of the office, reality came crashing down on me. I am going back to sleep in the same house as those people.

After telling them to give me until the end of the month I feel I'm going to receive hell during my remaining time in that house. Which is why I must leave that house as soon as possible. But based on my savings I don't have enough to survive if I should leave before I'm paid.

"Sign" seriously exhausted

At work the next day

My goodness, this job is draining my soul, I have been going from one department to the other, spying. Yes you heard me, spying. The worst of it all is that it was in the guise of accepting reports from department heads. How is this any of my business. Shouldn't it be done by someone else whose job qualification is in relation to office supervision?

For some reason this man has put that huge responsibility on me. How can I tell him that some of my colleagues are lagging behind on their expected work load a day or something like that. I'm new here for goodness sake, it will only put a stump on my relationship with them. With the shipping branch, at least they are not part of the headquarters, so we have nothing in common but here. Ugh!!!

If that were the last of it I would even understand, but its not, this man has been in a foul mood since arriving in the morning. its a wonder he can't keep a secretary for long. What crawled up his ass and died?

Hmph!

if he thinks this will affect me enough to quit, then he doesn't know the will of a person seeking freedom. I can see it very close to my reach

Ms. Martins? my boss calls me into his office probably to instruct me on another work. I get up from my desk I step into his office.

This man always mesmerizes me, amidst being in a foul mood its almost like his sexiness is heightened. Everything he does is done gracefully. I really need to stop my train of thought before I jump him

I look at my wristwatch, its been a minute since I got called by him and he hasn't even looked up from his system. My endurance level is being tested for sure

The clanking of his keypads finally stop and he looks at me. Gosh those eyes

"Do I have another meeting today?" he enquirers

"No sir. There was supposed to be a meeting with the heads of departments but you already asked me to reschedule it to the upper week, so you are free Sir"

"mmm... you should put more effort into your outlook" What!

"excuse me?"

"you look like you could drop dead any second and I do not condone that at in my company. If you can't take care of yourself enough to work in this company then you might as well quit"

What the hell! how did we get to this conversation. I know there are black circles around my eyes but that's because I haven't been sleeping well. He didn't have to point it out. Rude much

"I'm sorry sir, I will deal with it" I could strangle him right now

"Good. Also I require your presence this weekend."

"Sir?" What for. I'll be busy this weekend.

"We need to review some documents this weekend as I will be traveling next week to close a deal. So you need to be at the office when I call. Understood?"

"Yes sir I understand" he looks at me weirdly I may say

" or do you have plans this weekend?" even if I have, how can I say no to my boss. Moreover working after hours will add to my payload.

I was supposed to go scout for apartments this weekend and have made reservations with an agent but I'll just call and reschedule the time.

"No sir, not really. I'll be at work when you call"

"Mmm... Get me the reports you gathered from the departments and your own review on them" I turn and leave to get the files. I had already written my review when I realized he was using me to watch my colleagues based on my report on the other branch. I should be happy that he is entrusting such a duty to a newbie like me but it's quite uncomfortable.

Hopefully he won't tell me to spy again. Maybe I should change my review to a less professional one. Ugh! whom am I kidding, I don't do terrible jobs. They must be very well done
