I am the author of Timeless Gears, Wildcawrd. Timeless Gears is pretty neat eh?- What? White Lightning and Ether is confusing? Didn't chapter 2 provide enough exposition for you? It didnt?!

Son of a b****! Well anyway, this aux chapter is to provide a more detailed explanation of Ether, this does not spoil the story whatsoever and you will eventually know about this unusual magical resource and many other things in these aux chapters.

Q. So, What IS Ether?

A. Ether is a naturally growing crystal in the world of Regulus, which all naturally store an unusual magical electricity. This electricity is not like our world's lightning, in fact it counts as an arcane element in this universe. This special electricity is named White Lightning, or abbreviated as WL. Ether is used to not only store WL, but to also be refined into gems to be able to be used as weapons, elemental explosives, etc. The magical crystal also has one more defining trait. Unlike any other crystal, Ether is able to be turned into any material and any state of matter.

Examples of Applications:

-Ether may be refined to concentrate on one element, where it can 'influence' other ether when made contact, shift the charge of WL into that element. This is the concept of magical grenades and ammunition.

-This crystal may be weaved into string to create magical fabric.

-Ether may be turned into liquids, able to be store WL.

Q. What in the hell is WL?

A. As stated prior, White Lightning is a magical lightning of unknown origins. It is, like in the name, is white electricity, showing white lightning bolts. But, if one looks closely, the color isnt white, but it is actually all colors of the rainbow, all the elements converging so much that it turns into this energy.

White Lightning embodies all of the natural elements, but humanity may only set one set of energy as one element at a time. The element that each person typically controls depend on what legend 'marked' you.

Example:

Kappa = Water

Slime = Water

Tengu = Wind

Celestial (Special) = [Earth, Solar, Ice, Water, Electricity]

Reaper = Darkness

Ammunition, cigarettes (in some cases), even armor is laced with ether to control White Lightning. Certain families marked with a legend have their own styles of application with this magical duo. Some specialize in musical instruments able to channel magic through them, others utilizing magical smog, perhaps even atomically disassembling objects.
