Chapter 52 - Selecting Skills

After fussing for a while, I decided to work for my skills. With 123 SP to spend for all the classes, I quickly browsed the classes. First stop is the Swordsman class. Though I consider the swordsman class inferior to samurai and Magic Knights, they still have some pros that are unique to them. I browsed the 2nd Tier skills of Swordsman and soon a few skills appeared on the 2nd Tier. I did not hesitate and spend 5 SP on a skill.

"Rending Sword"

Mana Cost: 0

Description: A sword technique that can destroy your targets to shreds. Higher critical rates if combined with Berserk.

That was quite a strong skill combined with Berserk that I already learned. But I knew that I don't have time to usually use this skill. I only bought it due to the fact that it doesn't have any Mana Cost. It will be helpful if my Mana is sealed. There are some special ailments that causes your mana to be disabled for a few minutes and it was usually used in tournaments. I will be cautious and even though I won't be using it much, it will be a good backup.

There are no more attractive skills in the Swordsman skill tree. In my opinion, swordsman is kind of overrated already. After setting the next skill, I move towards the Magician's 2nd tier skill. I am tempted to use the Telekinesis in 5th tier since it only uses 5 SP to learn but I knew that it is hard to control yet, which is Battle Maid Lina is currently experiencing. She can only use it for the support but not for the battle purposes.

There are two skills that are quite good addition on skills. An electric, an Earth and a flame skill. The electric skill has 10 SP necessary to unlock, the Earth Skill needs 15 Sp while 15 SP also for the flame skill.

"Conveyor's Bolt"

Mana Cost: 150

Description: Conjures 5 spheres of Electricity around the caster which damages the enemies that approaches.

"Earth Spikes"

Mana Cost: 250

Description: Remodel the structure of the Earth to form strong attacks that can either cripple or kill your enemies.

"Flame Spikes"

Mana Cost: 200

Description: Uses the power of the flames to form spikes that can incinerate enemies. Best complimented with Earth Spikes to add more damage.

The Conveyor's Bolt is. Defensive skills which is useful in close combat. While near the enemy, the spheres can damage the enemies without laying a finger on them. On Earth Spike, this skill proves very lethal and can impale enemies if they are struck on their vitals, while Flame Spikes is similar to Earth spike, though they only incinerate the target from the inside to kill. This skill contemplates perfectly on Earth Spike which is the reason I also bought it.

After learning the three skills, I still have 78 SP with me. I push to the Ninja skills. I already planned to buy it though I kept on getting sidetracked which made me strayed on my original intent but it pains me to say that this one is too expensive for 20 SP to learn and also, this is the upgrade of Concealment II.

"Stealth Camouflage"

Mana Cost:100

Description: Allows the caster to blend in with the surroundings which you can hide without cover as long as you are silent. Can be used for killing enemies without being seen. Can only be canceled by the user. The longer the use, the faster the mana will drain.

This one is quite amazing. If Concealment cancels itself whenever I am discovered, or I attack, Stealth Camouflage is different since it can only be cancelled by the user of the skill, making it very dangerous for players who never expect any ambush. This skill is very useful for PKing a player outside the towns.

Having only 58 SP left, I still have a few skills I can learn. I move towards the Samurai skills and pick out two in the 1st tier.

"Counter Slash"

Mana Cost: 0

Description: When attacked by a melee weapon by the enemy, this skill can be activated. Deals double damage that is inflicted to the user towards the aggressor.

"Battou Rending Blade"

Mana Cost: 50

Description: Drawing the Katana swiftly to deal multiple damage to a target. High Critical Rate, can cause bleeding and slash wounds debuff.

The reason I said that Swordsman class is a bit under compared to Samurais. The Samurai skills especially the Battou Rending Blade is similar to Rending Sword of the Swordsman skill. The only difference is that the Battou Rending Blade has a Mana Cost and can also cause Bleeding and Slash Wounds. They are a bit expensive too which the Counter Slash cost 12 SP while Battou Rending Slash cost 15 SP. With only 41 SP left, I decided to spend the rest late on where the SP cost are enormously expensive than usual. If I was still a newbie, I won't hesitate to spend this amount of SP for skills.

The main reason I select these skills is due to its evolution paths. Leveling them up can increase their tiers like how the Concealment became Concealment II into Stealth Camouflage. They increases their usefulness than the skills normally bought directly. In my opinion, some of their past effects are being inherited to the next skill making them very overpowered once they reach the last tier.

I shook my head. Sometimes, they are too confusing to remember but I managed to keep it with me. I checked the leaderboards. Many players are very enthusiastic in leveling and after gaining access to the Capital, many of them managed to level up faster but still slow enough to actually reach my level. They still have long ways to get to the threshold of level 50.

With the skills done, I pull out the papyrus. Leveling up my Scribe Ex Job is my main priority to immediately gain upper hand at the quest that Almira has given to me. I can also make this scrolls as one of my business in the future, they will be a good money raker for me.

Leona was sleeping on my side like a cat curled up into a ball while I was busy with my scrolls. The Thunderbolt Scroll is quite difficult as the Magic circle contains two circles combined together with intricate patterns. I have no experience making this scroll. This is much more complicated than the Fireball Scroll and even in practice, it cost me 50 papyrus to make one. All of the rest are all turned into failure and they are only meant to go to the trash.

I groaned due to the fact that even the cheapest papyrus cannot be considered cheap. I shook my head and continued to keep on writing the scroll. Once I managed to make the successful scroll, I can memorize the intricate patterns of the Magic Scroll. This is the advantage of a person with the Photographic Memory.

After a few successful writing of scrolls, my Scribe level reached level 12. Its quite handy and very awesome indeed as I look at the 30 pieces of Thunderbolt Scrolls that I made. Though they are considered poor quality, they cannot be underestimated at all.

I decided to stop for now. And practice on swinging a hammer in my room. I bought one and according to Almira, practicing the swinging hammer everyday reduces the fatigue that a person will feel during the forging sessions. That way, you can focus solely on the item you are forging, not worrying on the fatigue build up.

After that time, I looked at the time and in the game world, a day passed by and looks like today will be the day I will train Battle Maid Lina and also the last day of my vacation. Tomorrow is the opening of the new term at school. With my physique getting affected by my own game physique, looks like I will be able to deal with all the troubles I will suffer soon. Bullies, I am going to wait for the time we will face each other and I can't wait to bash their faces soon.

Knock! Knock!

All of my thoughts were disrupted after the knocks. They were soft knocks and I guess it was Lina.

"Wait, I am coming," I said before I approached the door.

I opened the wooden door and sure enough it was her. She still wear the Combat Maid uniform.

"Let's go," I nodded at her. I added her to my NPC companion slot and cast Teleport to return to Almira's Blacksmith Shop.
