"Uhm no. I'm here for my boyfriend...so if you don't mind...he's kind of waiting for me" Queshia dismissed the guy with a forced smile. He's just a classmate at one subject anyway...and they never even interacted once before this so it was really forced and awkward on her side.
She returned to their table, but to her surprise, Maverick was nowhere to be found. She texted him right away asking where he is and even tried calling, but no luck, he ignored everything.
Queshia felt devastated, she didn't know what happened, they were just happy just a while ago. She didn't know what else to do, so she went home, thinking that she'll just come back tomorrow again.
Maverick didn't want to hear Queshia's explanation. What he saw was enough that was what he thought. He didn't want to be fooled ever again, especially now that he knows that what he feels for her is greater than what he ever felt for anyone before. So the next day, he still ignored her - even humiliated her in front of his classmates.
Queshia waited outside of Maverick's room for hours until he would come out. Maverick thought she got tired waiting, so he finally went out, only to see her sitting on the floor. Just as Queshia was about to approach him, he turned around and left, leaving Queshia's hand midair that was about to grab his arm. So she felt embarrassed when the people behind Maverick looked at her with pity.
"Maverick! Hey!" She tried calling him while chasing him, not caring much about her surroundings, which were other people who are watching her with pity.
When she had finally caught up to him, she grabbed his arm and forced him to face her, only to be crushed.
"What do you even want? Don't you even have a little bit of self respect on you? Do you not know how to take a f*uckin' hint lady? We are already over you hear me? WE. ARE. OVER. Capiche?" Maverick said with a poker face as he forcefully removed Queshia's hand that was grabbing his arm.
"B-but...why? Is there something wrong? Did I...do something wrong? We were happy just yesterday before you disappeared..." Queshia reasoned out pitifully. Good thing there were no people around to pry anymore.
"Ask yourself! Go home! And stay away from me! If I ever see you again tomorrow waiting for me after class, I won't care anymore whether you get humiliated a lot infront of other people! I won't be coming here at this spot anymore just so no one could see your pity act! Get lost!" Maverick dismissed her and left.
Queshia started blankly at the spot where Maverick was. She was in daze for a minute, and when she finally snapped out of it, she did not know whether to laugh or cry. She went home after that despicable event.
She still kept texting him all day, all night, throwing all the dignity and self respect she had for herself, she keeps insisting that they should talk about whatever the problem is. But of course, she still got ignored and she can't do anything about it.
That night, he went to his ex's birthday - Rika's party at her house. He played games with them, had fun, and went swimming with her and their friends, but good thing that he had classes the next day, because he might've got drunk, and God knows what he might have done, so he left early. But nonetheless, Rika was very much happy that he was able to come, and thought that maybe they still had a chance to be together again.
The next day, Queshia still went to school during his class, but she did not wait for him and just left a paper bag filled with foods that he liked, with his full name written on it, then left, without caring if someone else would take it or if he would even take it or much less, even notice it there. But surely, someone would and will tell him anyways.
Maverick saw her through the glass on the classroom door. He thought that she'd still be waiting for him outside, but as he went out, there was no sign of Queshia's presence, but only a paper bag with his name written on it. He took the paper bag and went back inside the room.
The guy that Maverick saw talking to Queshia, was apparently his classmate at his next subject. Earlier that time, before Maverick took the paper bag inside the room, the guy was outside preparing to enter the room and saw Queshia left the paper bag on the floor, and was writing something on it. After writing she just left. Out of curiosity, he looked at what she had written, and saw that it was a name of a guy.
"Maverick Ibsen...must be the boyfriend...and must be one of my classmates here" He read and guessed as he put it back and went inside the room, waiting for a guy to come in carrying the paper bag. He wanted to see what kind of guy Queshia liked and is apparently together with. And he wanted to see if he's much more better looking than himself. And to his surprise, he was apparently admitting that this Maverick guy is really a lot more handsome than himself and just admitted defeat.
He went to Maverick's seat and could not help himself but to talk to him about Queshia.
"So you must be the boyfriend she was talking about the other day...no wonder she never even glanced at any guy inside our class...and that was just one class with her dude! We even thought she was a lesbian! 'cause come on man...with this look? How could she not notice me? Right? But then seeing her again the other day, I thought maybe I could try talking to her, cause maybe she was just shy or something, but dang! She dismiss me so fast and did not even know who I was! Can you imagine that bro?" He blabbed and blabbed pointing at his self-absorbed persona, without even realizing that Maverick could not care less about him, but then after hearing all of those from him, he realized just how much of a jerk he was and still is, to Queshia.
He did not know if this is a slap to his face of how mean he could be, or a blessing that he might have lost the best girl he could ever have with his stupid assumptions. But nevertheless, he wanted to thank all the gods for this opportunity and promised that he would not waste it ever again.
