Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Irvene's point of view

We went to our own rooms after brother Mavien talked to us. It's been a long day and they asked us to prepare for the upcoming event. It's Brother Mavien's official announcement of his leadership as a Ruler of Soul'e Country.

Except for the tailored dress, everything's here and I don't know why they're keeping it away from me or so it was.

I busied myself reading some Alchemy books for the potion that I'll start to experiment on and didn't noticed that time quickly passed.

"It's dark now," I murmured.

The cluster of bright stars in the dark skies could be seen from my windows. Today might be the start of Star Parade where it exists during the first week of eighth month every year.

It's such a beautiful night but I hurriedly closed the thick red curtains. Tonight was a lovely yet painful sight for me. Reminds me of death.

I closed my books and place it back on the shelves, and I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes to sleep, but I can't seem to make myself enter the world of dreams.

I ended up staring at the ceiling until I yawned and fell asleep.

"I missed you, father," I murmured.

Morning finally came and I woke up from the bed. I dressed from a nightgown to my usual dress and prepare my things. Not long after, someone knocked on the door.

I opened it, and Sister Adelaine and her friend, Ms. Kaila Helios, welcomed me.

"Good Morning, Irvene!" They said in unison.

"Ugh, What brought you two here?" I asked.

I certainly don't like their weird smiles and stares.

My sister's friend showed me a dress. A mage-type elegant dress but it seems a design for a high-class mage. My brows furrowed.

It's an exquisitely tailored dress with the combination of red, white and a touch of gold. A beautiful craftmanship of diamond on the robe caught my attention. Also, I think the length of the dress would almost reach my knees. I sighed in relief for that.

"Am I wearing that kind of clothes?" I asked.

"Obviously, you'll wear this dress. Let's enter your room. We'll help you," Sister Adelaine said.

They're doing it again. I breathed deeply. They helped me in styling my hair and other stuff about what they usually do. Since Sister Adelaine and Ms. Kaila were experts when it comes to these kinds of things, I guess it's not bad to let them decide for what I would look today. Just for today.

"Pretty!" They commented.

I stared at myself in the mirror.

"Not bad," I said.

Ms. Kaila slightly grunted. "Your voice sounds boring. Are you even complimenting us?" She said.

Sister Adelaine only laughed.

"I'm bluffing. You both did great. I looked like someone who'll fit to attend a formal party," I said.

I noticed that my shoes did pair my dress. It's a pair of boots that only reached my ankles and the length of the heels is three inches. I think I could still walk comfortably from this height.

"We'll bring the robe first. It's still not time for you to wear it," Sister Adelaine said.

I didn't know why and ended up shrugging. They left after a while and I wear the bracelet that has infinite storage and went outside.

The people in the palace were busy preparing downstairs. Maviel, Vaughn, and Sid were there too. I think I'm the last one who prepared or it's just I slept too long.

"Irvene!" Sid called.

"You've got a different look today," Meryll said.

"You know, Sister Adelaine," I said.

"And you have a different look too," I continued.

The three of them were elegantly dressed for this event. If I didn't usually see them, I wouldn't have known them at first sight. Also, Meryll who usually wears black wore the opposite color. She's glowing with her white dress today.

"Meryll, you're looking good today," I said.

She smiled at me but frowned a little.

"I don't plan to wear an all-white, but you're sister and her friend is so persistent," Meryll said.

I didn't know how to react. It seems like I'm not the only one they planned on an outfit.

"Anyway, let's go to the dining hall. Your brothers and sisters are there already," Meryll said.

"Wait for us!" Sid said.

We walked towards the dining area and sat on our own seats. My brothers, sister Adelaine and her friend are in the dining hall. We greeted them after sitting.

"The event would start on the afternoon, so you still have free time," Brother Mavien said.

"Then, why did Sister Adelaine came knocking on my door early in the morning? I asked.

"Of course, I'm excited to see you in that look today," Sister Adelaine said.

I ended up shaking my head and started eating.

"After all of this, everything would change," Brother Mavien said.

I tightened the grip on my utensils. "I know, brother," I said.

Our breakfast ended shortly. Since it's too early, Sid led us to a place near the castle.

"Where are we going?" Meryll asked.

"I think it's the forest," Vaughn said.

"It's been a long time, huh?" Meryll said.

The forest is located not too far away at the back of the castle. It feels like going back at those times.

We carefully ran to avoid damaging our clothes today.

At the end of the vast forest, there was a cliff. The place that all of us frequently goes to when we were younger. This was the place we hid when we escaped our instructors. It's because we're too tired in their rigorous training.

Nonetheless, we often managed to hide from them.

"This place brings back memories," I said.

We kept silent and felt the wind that fluttered on ourselves.

"Are we really going to face the world?" Sid uttered.

I nodded at him. We stayed there for a while until we decided to come back.

"We're drenching in sweat," Meryll said.

"Don't worry, I'll do some magic," I said.

I closed my eyes and chanted a spell. "Hidden Healing Magic, Level 1," I uttered.

Our drenched body suddenly turned comfortable and fresh as if we hadn't run through the forest. We didn't run this time and instead walked down the forest while walking back from the castle.

"Where did you went to?" Ms. Kaila said. She's with Sister Adelaine in the garden.

"Somewhere," I said and smiled.

"Hmp. Okay, I won't insist then," Ms. Kaila said.

"Why are we here yet? Aren't we going to the event area now?" Sid asked.

Sister Adelaine looked at us. "Brother Mavien said that we should stay here for a while until they called us," She answered.

Since it's the case, we stayed here.

But, I wonder why.
