Chapter 3 - St. Lewis' Academy of Arts and Science

Her legs straight away made their way to her father and Pepper's bedroom. She very well knew what kind of woman Pepper was and in these thirteen years of living with her, she was well aware of all her antics. She threw open the door and her way towards the bed.

From under it, she took out an old, worn out shoe box and opened it to reveal stocks of letters, old an dusty beneath the fresh new ones. Real smart way of hiding her things, Summer thought. This has been going on for years. Pepper would always hide away mails and letters that came for Summer, gifts she received and all that she possessed dearly. That was the biggest reason Summer kept her mother's locket hidden from Pepper's eyes.

She took out the newly arrived letters. She had already read the old ones. She discovered this box one night when Pepper, stupidly enough, ordered Summer to search for her lost diamond stud in her room. The stud was nowhere to be found but Summer sure discovered her personal treasure. Since then. She would sneak in every once in a while to check for her belongings and letters.

She sorted out the letters and smiled when she found the one she had been waiting for. She wanted to squeal, really, and dance and scream too but she had to keep her excitement and happiness hidden from evil eyes.

St. Lewis' Academy of Arts and Science.

Her eyes shone brightly upon reading those words. She had been eager to get away from here and from the everyday drama that she could no longer take in. What's the use of staying with the father who doesn't care enough? And now, when finally high school was over and she was turning nineteen in less than three weeks, time had never been as good for her.

She tore open the ivory white envelope and pulled out the A4 sized paper that contained her happiness and promised her a future.
