"I was just asking her to help me with Marley. Put in a word for me, please?" He pleaded with his special puppy dog eyes.
"I'm outta this. It's between you and her." She put her hands up in surrender and Nick sighed. She turned and peeked in the kitchen.
"Al?"
"Summer?"
"The one and only." She replied entering the hot and sweating kitchen. "What are you doing here?"
"Avoiding Nick." Alyssa shrugged.
"Figured. Anyways, can we talk for a while? I'll just take ten minutes." She pleaded.
Alyssa saw a hint of excitement in Summer's eyes and immediately agreed. "Gimme two minutes. I'll be there."
Summer nodded. "With my milkshake and burger."
"Right away!" Alyssa mock saluted.
Summer let out a laugh and made her way towards their regular booth. She slid in the seat. Nick followed her and sat across her. "What brings you here on a fine holiday?"
"There's something I wanna tell Al." She shrugged.
"Am I allowed to know." Nick asked.
"No. Now get out." Alyssa answered for her as she slid a plate of burger and chocolate shake towards Summer.
"Chill, Al." Summer said, sipping on her drink. "Now come on, hurry. Sit down."
Alyssa eyed Nick warily before sighing and sitting beside him. "Speak." She ordered.
Summer didn't. Instead, she slid the letter towards her best friend for her to read it for herself. Alyssa eyed the letter confused. "Is it-?"
"No." Summer cut her off abruptly. "Why would I let you read them?"
"Then?"
"Look for yourself."
