A few minutes later, someone knocked on the door. Han Zhenting's assistant appeared at the door with a tray of medicine. Jiang Mingyue took the tray and sat down beside Yang Yun. "Come. I'll feed you your medicine."
Yang Yun lifted his body carefully with his arms and lay on his side. He watched as Mingyue spooned the hot medicine to his mouth and obediently drank the medicine. A faint smile appeared on his lips as his gaze continued to watch her. Although the medicine tasted bitter, he felt that nothing was as sweet as having Mingyue by his side.
"I heard that your second brother was able to walk around," Yang Yun spoke as Mingyue blew on the medicine to cool it down. "How come I have to stay here longer to recuperate?"
"We only allow Second Brother to go out because he needs to enter into the palace," Mingyue said. "Yang Yun, since you're currently on a break, don't think of going anywhere before you completely healed. Or else, it might affect your body when you're older. If something happened to you, how are you going to look after me when we're older?"
Yang Yun chuckled at her words and nodded slowly. Hearing something about them growing old together warmed his heart. "Alright. I'll listen to you."
Mingyue smiled as a thought came across her mind. "That's right. I told my father that your mother and sister would be arriving in the capital soon. My father sent a few of his trusted man to welcome and escort them here. Your family should arrive in the city next week the latest." She held the bowl of medicine on her lap and smiled shyly. "When they arrived, let's gather and have a meal together. My parents wanted to discuss a few things with them."
"Good. Please thank your father for me." Yang Yun smiled. He was always thankful to the Jiang family, especially to General Jiang Xiao Xian and the Old General Jiang Huan for things they did for him and his family.
"Do you want to eat something sweet?" Mingyue asked as the bowl of medicine was empty. "I have some candied orange."
Yang Yun snapped out of his thought when he heard Mingyue's voice. He peeked at the empty bowl and nodded. Then Mingyue took another container on the tray. There was candied orange peel in the tray. Mingyue picked one of them and brought it to Yang Yun's mouth.
But before the candied orange reached his mouth, Jiang Mingyue felt a grip on her wrist. Using her free hand, Mingyue placed her palm before Yang Yun took advantage to kiss her. Mingyue narrowed her eyes and smiled playfully. "What are you trying to do?" She had been together with Yang Yun for years. It was impossible for her not to know what he was thinking.
Yang Yun blinked his eyes and his thin lips curved up into an innocent smile. "Didn't you say you were giving me something sweet to eat?"
Mingyue felt her neck hot as Yang Yun stared at her lips. She wriggled her hand free from him and shoved the candied orange into his mouth. Then she stood up and backed away while Yang Yun chewed on the candied orange with a pleased look on his face.
"You should rest properly. Grandfather said you could be discharged in a day or two." Mingyue said. When she saw the smile on his face, Mingyue turned around to leave the room. Just as she reached the door, Mingyue turned around abruptly and grabbed his cheek with both hands.
Yang Yun's eyes widened when her soft lips met his. Just as he was about to respond to her, Mingyue pulled away.
Mingyue smiled with satisfaction when she saw his astonished expression. "A reward for my obedient patient. Be good and listen to me," she said and left the room before Yang Yun could say anything.
His eyes were still on the closed door even after Mingyue's figure had disappeared. The sweet and sour candied orange in his mouth tasted even sweeter today.
In a week, his mother and sister will arrive in the city. The Old General, Jiang Huan even sent his men to greet his family. It seemed like their parents will be meeting to discuss the upcoming wedding.
With this thought, Yang Yun's lips curved into a smile.
