Chapter 65 - He Made a Wish

When Yang Yun opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Mingyue. She sat quietly next to his bed with her eyes glued to a medical journal. The sunshine brightened up her tender face. When she moved, the dangling hairpin in her hair would sway along. Once in a while, a frown would appear on her face whenever she encountered something hard to understand.

Looking at Mingyue, Yang Yun's heart skipped a beat. He made a wish that her face will be the first thing he sees when he woke up.

Yang Yun was lying on his stomach. He tried to adjust his position to get a clear look at Mingyue better and felt pain on his back. Yang Yun let out a low grunt and attracted Mingyue's attention. It was then that he recalled where he was right now.

"You're awake!" Mingyue said. She placed her book on the table. Her eyes brightened as she looked at him.

"Don't look!" Yang Yun pulled the blanket beside him to cover his lower half. His expression clouded when he saw her laugh. He didn't know whether to be angry at her for sitting in his room considering where he was injured. Although as a physician, Mingyue could choose to ignore customary to look at a male body part that she should not look at, Yang Yun was not comfortable with it.

It was probably the only thing he didn't like about Mingyue's work as a physician in the beginning. He was glad that Mingyue was assigned as Her Highness' physician. Although it was regrettable that Mingyue could not perform surgery as she was very skillful at it, but at least, this way she would no longer get to examine any random, strange male as she did in the past.

"Is it still painful?" Mingyue asked.

"Why are you here?" Yang Yun did not answer her question.

The corner of her lips tilted into an amusing smile as she saw Yang Yun expression. To see Yang Yun who would usually act shamelessly around her be embarrassed was something unusual.

"Yang Yun, are you shy?" Mingyue decided to tease him and pretended to peek at his lower half. "You shouldn't mind about this. After all, I am a physician. Which part of a human body I have not seen before."

His face darkened at her words. "Mingyue…"

"Ease up," Mingyue cut his words. There was a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Do you think my grandfather would allow me to be in the same room as you if you were not dressed decently?"

Yang Yun fumbled under the blanket. His expression relaxed when he felt his pants were in place. But his frown deepened when he saw Mingyue laughing. "You had fun teasing me?" His lips curved into a threatening smile. "Come here."

Seeing his expression, Mingyue took a step back and laughed.

Yang Yun narrowed his eyes at her as if warning her that he will punish her if she did not stop laughing at him.

Last week, Yang Yun, Jiang Xiao Tian and the rest of the guards who went to escort Princess Lingchen last week were flogged as punishment due to their incompetence when they failed to protect Her Highness carefully. A stranger succeeded in approaching Her Highness and steal her purse. Then, a masked man came near the Princess without any of them noticing.

Because of that, Han Zhenting offered to let him live in his infirmary. After all, Yang Yun lives alone with no one to look after him. It would be improper to have Mingyue to visit his house to watch over him every day as they were not married yet.

Mingyue tilted her head to a side. Her lips curved into a smile. "Is it painful? Grandfather has prepared your medicine. I'll ask someone to warm it up for you." She went out of the room and came back within seconds.

Yang Yun massaged his forehead when Mingyue returned. He felt light-headed after a long sleep. "I don't know what kind of medicine Grandfather fed me. It makes me sleep like a log. I didn't even notice when you got here."

He frowned at the thought of someone could take the opportunity to harm him while he was unconscious. Perhaps, later on, he should request to get some of that drug from Han Zhenting. He could use them to knock out his enemy in the future.
