The people in the meeting room were frozen in fear as they glanced at their boss. Black clouds seem to form around his head as he sat at the head of the table with his fingers locked together.
"Is this the best you could offer?" He asked coldly, causing the presenter to immediately break down into cold sweats.
It was normal for the boss to have a neutral expression on his face but today his expression was very scary. No one knew who pissed the boss off, causing him to be in a bad mood.
They were all whining inside and secretly cheering for the person standing in front of the big meeting room.
"Boss that is..." The presenter could barely speak as he was feeling extremely nervous. His boss's expression was getting darker and darker.
"Modern hotels? You are proposing for our group to open that sort of chain?" Quince narrowed his eyes as he bit each word out.
"Boss, it is what the people like, convenience..." The presenter trailed off as Quince abruptly got up and slammed the proposal on the table before strolling out.
Everyone could barely breathe at the boss's rare show of temper. There were worse projects but the boss never lost patience with them.
He criticized them and pointed out the problems, pushing them to think of better things. Everyone respected the boss and were loyal to him as he was a true leader in their hearts.
Either this project was really bad or the boss was in a terrible mood. After Quince left, everyone silently dismissed themselves and some went to console the poor presenter who was nearly in tears.
Quince walked briskly to his office and the people around hurriedly got out of his way.
He was in a foul mood and thinking of the reason made his mood drop further.
He could hardly work and all he did was thought of her.
It was maddening how badly he wanted to hear her voice. He did not meet her for 3 days at most and it was already affecting him in ways he never thought possible.
'Just why do I care so much about a person that I have known for 10 days at most? Granted, she's my fiancée but she is still practically a stranger!' Quince fumed in his heart as he entered his office.
He walked to his table where the silver name plate displayed his name and position. He sat down and stared at the various files piled up on his table.
In the next moment, he took out his phone and stared at his screen still wondering whether he should call her. He scowled at the screen as if cursing it for not ringing. Soon he decided not to as he did not want to seem like he cared.
It took him a while before he was able to concentrate on his work. Just as he was finally able to concentrate, that strange atmosphere enveloped his chest once more.
"This feeling...." Quince murmured to himself as he observed the feelings he was experiencing. It was that mad feeling again that reminded him of her. It was as if she were near by.
There was a torrent in his chest and he abruptly gazed up at his door. In the next moment, he heard a knock from outside.
"Come in." Quince replied and waited for the person to enter.
"Master Quince, sorry to disturb you, it's Harry from HR department." Harry said and entered the room.
Quince didn't say a thing but simply waited for the other side to speak. Harry felt pressured from his stare and started sweating unknowingly. Soon enough, he opened his mouth to tell the 'good news' to his boss.
"Boss, the candidate accepted the job and is now waiting to start work." Harry said and gulped down nervously.
It was true that he already informed his boss about his new secretary and already got his approval but he was still nervous about it.
Quince nodded before saying,"Let her in."
Harry hurriedly left his office and told the new secretary to go inside.
'Knock Knock' The sound on the door rang once more and Quince uttered the words for the new secretary to come in as he stared at the files in his hands.
The person walked in and even though Quince didn't look up to see her face but he could hear the consistent rhythm of her confident footsteps.
"Harry must have briefed you about everything already. Go to the contracting department and follow up on the Atmos project with them. Check who is in charge of the project on their side and get the contact list. Then go to the PR department...." Quince just spewed out his orders nonstop not caring whether the person would be able to remember it.
Normally, he didn't have much patience with newbies but today was especially worse since he was in a bad mood due to someone.
After he was done, he expected the person to ask for his orders once more in a flustered voice or anything else to show her confusion.
But the only thing he heard was a simple word from her.
"Yes sir." The tone showed how strict she sounded as she accepted his order.
However what made Quince look up was not because she accepted his order easily and confidently. It was that voice that he had been waiting for all these days.
"You..." Quince said as he raised his head up. He
was expecting to see that cocky smile on her face and the usual teasing look in her golden eyes.
What he saw, made him pause instead.
