After dinner with Mr Ting and his family, they arrived at the bar in no time. The bar had an open concept. It was very large and spacious. Once inside the bar, there were already a lot of people drinking and dancing. The noise of the bar mingled with the loud music as if they too were moved by the music that night. We found a table and sat down.
"Mind, if I leave you for a moment?" Lucas said. "It's okay, go ahead." Ruby replied with a smile. Leaving her alone, he went to the bar counter before heading towards the washroom.
The moment Lucas is away, she started scanning the surroundings while waiting for her boss to be back in their table. Ruby thought she saw someone familiar. It was a man who looked to be in his mid twenties and 5'8" feet tall. He had dark brunnett short hair that was cut into a professional style. He was wearing a navy blue suit with black pants. Unknown to Ruby her ex, Marcus was there in City M for business too. And her scanning stopped, when her eyes trained on a man in the corner that she was sure it looked like him, but she can't clearly see because of the dim light.
'What am I thinking? Why would he be out here for a business trip? Couldn't be, I must have seen wrong.' Ruby thought to herself. Not that she doesn't love him anymore but obviously she still cannot forgive him.
She didn't know that the place would be for businessmen as well, for she saw a lot of guys in suits. Good thing, the waiter came on time. "Missy! Here your drinks. Wine for him and juices for you. The waiter said, serving their drinks Lucas ordered earlier. "Whatever! Thank you." She rolled her eyes and looked at the corner again but the man was not there anymore. She chuckled at her crazy imagination.
"So, what have we here? Oh, wow, these drinks look really good... almost as good as you!" Lucas teased. The waiter smiled and thanked him but didn't linger for too long.
"Its seem fun there!" Lucas said smiling, pointing at the dance floor. They chatted while enjoying their drinks. Ruby grinned to Lucas who was obviously happy too. "Can we dance?" Lucas invited Ruby, but she declined at first. After much persuasion from her boss, they left their table, going to the dance floor.
'At first she was kinda being shy about dancing. She used to dance when she was with Marcus but now, everything changed.' They began to sway their bodies to the sounds of the music just like everyone else in the audience. She blushed, she moved her body to the rhythm as it reverberated.
We're tired, stopped dancing and got back to our seats. But then, someone familiar suddenly walked toward her. "Hello. Seem you have a hot date!" Marcus now at their table. "He's not my date! He's my boss! And I don't have anything to do with you too." Ruby said and Marcus's face lighten up. "Really?" He assured. Ruby was stunned and after few moments of silence, she turned to Lucas.
"Boss, this is an old friend. Meet Mr Marcus Huang." Lucas stood up from his seat. "Nice to meet you. I'm Lucas Yii." Marcus extended his hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Marcus Huang, her ex-fiance." 'Does he not know our situation? What's he trying to do?' She looked uneasy and just sat there with a weird expression on her face.
Lucas noticing her uneasiness, leaned over and whispered in my ear. "Don't worry, I knows how to deal with it." He gave her a smile and said. "Ruby is very good at what she does." Lucas said and saw Marcus's eyes. His eyes were shining with sadness but his body was like a raging fire. "What do you mean?" Marcus asked. "It means her job. She gets paid to be my personal PA. That, my friend, is what she does."
Marcus now in rage, grabbed Ruby's hand and dragged her out of the bar without saying anything. Ruby followed, while shouting. "Let me go! Let me go! Marcus! You are crazy! You asshole!" Lucas went up to help her as she was dragged away by Marcus. The crowds were shocked and gave way to him. "Fucking hell. Let her go." Lucas cursed.
