Meekly walking behind the man, Lil looked around her, each room she would try to remember where it roughly was. The place was ginormous and confusing for a stranger, especially for one that was new to the world hidden behind magic. Lil's golden hair softly swayed behind her still, serene back - which was tense during breakfast, yet as quickly as it got worked up, it calmed down. Moving across the silent air, Lil's muscles swung across her bodily at a steady pace, moving in time with the older man in front of her, leading her through the labyrinth.
"This is my office, we went through a short cut, so we actually missed about all of the castle. All we actually saws were some vacant bedrooms and the kitchen." Andymion told Lil as they reached a door with golden outlines. The wood screamed out in horror as their aching joints moved once again that day. Hanging onto their life, the metal hinges creaked with surprise as the two entered the room.
Scanning the room cautiously, her blue eyes raced across the room, whilst she kept her composure and went towards the grand desk, each object was placed neatly in their place - nothing was out of place, everything was perfect. The chairs were decorated with red velvet cushioning, and simple silver jewels on the border, each handmade with care. No dust was found in the room, every little object was carefully cleaned.
"Even the air is clean, thank god." Lil said out loud to herself, without realizing it. Andymion chuckled quietly at the young girl. Realization hit Lil hard, and she slapped her mouth, apologizing herself for horrible behavior and sweat started to snoop across her face. Lil's nerves started to take hold of her body.
"It's alright, I am glad you find the air fresh." Andymion chuckled, excusing her behavior as if he was used to it.
He invited her over to sit down in front of his desk. Lil obliged, unsure of what else to do, except for asking all the unanswered questions. Carefully comforting the girl, the velvet chair sat snuggly against the cold, hard floor. Staring across the desk, Lil spotted a picture frame of Andymion and what looked like her mother. Questions started to flood her mind again, Lil wanted to know the truth of what was happening.
"You deserve to know the truth, after all you are a part of this world, no matter how you look at it. But before we start, let me just tell you that your mother went to get your things because you will be staying here. That is because you are in danger. As I guess you could figure out from what happened yesterday." Andymion started explaining, reading the girl's mind. He sat down on the opposite side of Lil, behind his side of the desk.
"I guess you could say that. What is this?" Lil demanded shyly, trying hard not to act rude. She saw a gentle smile appear on his face, deciding to explain everything.
"I guess I should start with who we are. We have many different names others give us, like 'angellic defenders', or 'those people who are searching for the impossible'," he chuckled quietly before carrying on. " But , I guess, are actual race name is 'Tianshi protector', or in English, 'angel protector' it comes from the Chinese word for 'angel' and the Latin for 'protector'. It is believed that in ancient history, before the Greeks, Egyptians and the sort, that there used to be only two languages. Chinese was used to be as the commoners language where Latin was used among the nobles." Andymion paused for a while, looking back at distant memories.
"My guess is that they decided to just join the two words from both languages to join the together. But no one is really sure of coarse. Now, what do we actually do... We have many uses like keeping the balance between our world and the human world, but we also are searching for someone important, but that is more history which I will explain later. Afterall it is a complicated story. Oh! " he seemed to have remembered something else important. "We also are watch all the legends come to life." Andymion stared out at the confused girl.
Lil sat down, listening carefully to what the man in front of her was talking about. However, after the first sentence, she was already confused, but she carried on listening. Some questions were answered but only a fraction of them, so she decided to ask a question.
"Ok. So what about the 'angel blood' thing and the 'mark things' that is on my arm. What in the world?'' Lil made it obvious of her confusion. Andymion nodded his head in understanding and explained how the Tainshi have angel blood in them cause they received it from the angels themselves. The marks are what separates them from normal humans, the give them powers, but can only do simple things: healing, stamina, vision, silence.
"However, all the physical attributes that we have, must be achieved themselves. So if someone wants to become flexible, they must do it themselves, same comes with knowledge. I actually have a book with every mark that you could get, I can lend you it. The one on your arm is actually Curatio, healing and health. I am not sure if you looked under your bandages, but you are probably healed completely by now. That mark can fix anything small really quickly, it cannot fix anything broken or vision, hearing. That is too much." Once again, Anydmion stopped, taking a pause and letting Lil take in the information.
Lil nodded and asked about the legends coming to life and about keeping the balance.
"You see, basically every legend you could have heard has a seed of truth, so werewolves exist or vampires. But then, you also have you legendary heroes, like King Arthur or Hercules, but that is the grim reapers job to look after. You should be able to figure out, that normal people would be umm, weirded out by the 'legends' here, so we make sure that they do not come out as who they are, but can live a normal life. Also, only special people - or those who have angel blood - can actually see the people as who they are, their eyes are immune to magic." Andymion was about to carry on, before being interrupted by the blonde.
"So how come I didn't know anything until actually being attacked yesterday?!" Lil raised her voice loudly.
" Your mother was trying to protect you is my guess, but I doubt that you didn't see, it was more that you chose to ignore it so your brain decided to make them look normal. That can happen sometimes. Anyways, us Tianshi have also special weapons, the have angel dust sprinkled on them, giving them only a small fraction of heavenly power, but those are only used on the rogues or the cursed. Don't worry about it killing you, after all anything angelic cannot harm you or any of us. I thought I would tell you so that you don't become surprised when you see a lot of weapons in out training room." Anymion stopped, think about what else she needed to know.
"I guess you should also know, that we do keep up with the latest technology, but we aren't really allowed to use them that often, or we just don't have time. So, if you have your phone or anything you can use it." He informed her about what was a general rule.
"Ok, two more questions then and then I am done. What about the cleaning? Do you use magic as well? And also, why was my mum out with the 'normal' people if she was part of this world?" Lil needed to know the answers, she never liked having unanswered questions left unanswered. Glancing up at Andymion, she knew that those questions stumped him in surprise, like a kid getting a surprised birthday party.
"Well, we are quite busy as we are always on patrols for the whole city, so we have maids working here, doing the cleaning and preparing the food. One of the maids, Sophie, was actually here since she was a toddler, she was left behind and had nowhere else to go, also since she does have the talent of seeing this world, she was allowed to stay. Before you ask, it was her who asked if she could work here, so I agreed. You will get along with her really well, everyone does Afterall." he answered the first question subtly, but had to think about how he was going to answer the next question.
Andymion took a deep breathe in and explained that she was sent on a mission out in the other world. "She was pregnant with you there and gave you birth. She went out looking for information about the people who attacked you. She was able to locate their base, so she was going to come back with you. Yet, plans never go to plan do they." He let out a singular breath out before looking back at the teenager girl. Silence comfortably filled the room, as the two were seated and were thinking to themselves. Lil's eyes widened when she realized a truth about someone important to her.
"Wait, does this mean my dad is also one of these people and is not fighting in a war?!" Lil jumped out of her seat, shouting at the man behind the desk. Andymion's eyes widened at the word 'dad', surprising him to the bones. However, he quickly regained his composure and told Lil that he was fighting in a war, but the war that is part of his world, not where the normal people lived.
"Your mother wouldn't lie about that..." his voice became softer as the words slipped out of his mouth. After a while, he stood up and told her that he will show her around the castle. It was going to be her new home from now on. he glided towards the door, with Lil by his side, wandering out to the labyrinth of her new home.
