A few months have passed. Ambar had finished her rehabilitation and had been discharge. She started university again in the new campus. Not many people knew who she was and she did not tell anyone she was the daughter of the Lee family. She begins to learn how to be a wallflower and rarely talks for long with her classmates. She avoids crowds and only sticks to her lecture schedules. She successfully finished her online course and scored with flying colours for her exam when she started school. She became more aloof and unapproachable after she was discharge. Towards her family, she puts on a smile and looks carefree. However, she is mostly indifferent towards her illness and acts uncaring. Her mother, Florence, worries a lot about her once she had started university. Her dad was surprised she could walk normally after 2 months. The physiotherapist estimated it would take about 3 to 4 months for Ambar to regain her motor skills after coma. The progress on Ambar's bucket list is progressing smoothly. She had seen sunsets and went to flower exhibitions. Also, her relationship with he brother Kace has gotten better. Kace now dotes on her and hangs out with her on the weekends. Kace used to bring Ambar news about Titus and his girlfriend, but seeing as Ambar seems disinterested, he had stop talking about his best friend. Before the accident, Kace thought his sister had a puppy love with Titus. Now, he's sure that his sister does not have feelings for Titus. Their conversations had often include his relationship with Dr. Cass, food and places that Ambar wants to visit. Kace felt that his sister had changed a lot after the coma, but the whole family easily accepted the change. It was also a good change as her sister became very dedicated to studying and had become very independent.
On a fine evening, where the warm glow of sun rays penetrates through the glass windows of the chic and romantic french restaurant, Kace and Dr. Cass is having a date. Laughter could be heard from the couple as they were having their meal with Italian wine. As the conversation flows, they stumbled across a topic about Ambar.
"How's you sister? Her appointment's coming up this month," Dr. Cass asked.
"She's fine. These day I've been bringing her out to hang out. She stays at home too often," Kace replied.
"Oh yeah. She's the talk of our hospital. All the nurses says she acts completely normal as if she wasn't in a coma before."
"Yeah I get that a lot. She doesn't feel like patient does she?"
"Ya. She gave me a strange first impression when she woke up. The nurses said she was bawling her eyes out when they found her awake."
"Really. I never seen her cry after the accident. She acts too indifferent."
"Ya. Maybe that's her way of coping. I was surprised she was so carefree when I told her she had brain tumour."
The expression on Kace face darkens as he remembers what her sister is going through.
"Ya she does look strong inside. She puts up a front and thinks that she doesn't need help. Did you know she started driving?"
"Really! Your sister is amazing. Normally car accident patients don't take up driving once they had recovered. It might take awhile for them to finally be able to drive again."
"Yes. She worries my mum often. Well, enough talk about my sister. Do you still have time for a movie?" Kace asked as showed a dazzling smile.
Back in the Lee Family's manor, Ambar is doing her assignment on her laptop. She hasn't met Titus since he last visited her in the hospital. Her phone started ringing. She got a call from her mum who was having tea with Mrs Zhang.
"Hello?"
"Ambar, I've been talking with Josephine. Oh you know, Mrs. Zhang. And there's an upcoming dinner party this Saturday and we've decided you have to come."
"Why? I don't think I need to go. Besides I'm busy with university already," Ambar said as her eyebrows scrunched up when she frowned. She put down her pen and turned on her chair.
"Come on dear. You get to make an appearance and Josephine says she missed you. She haven't seen you for a long time."
Ambar closes her eyes as she feel a headache coming. It was a waste of time to argue with her mum. So she resigns and sighs. "Fine mum. I'll be there. Kace's coming with me too."
"Alright. Well, it's good that you're close with your brother. Oh yeah! I just remembered. Josephine's eldest son, Jonathan, just had a baby boy."
"Oh wow, seems like I missed a lot while I was hospitalised. How's Mila doing?"
"She's good. She's having post natal care right now. Both her and her baby is healthy. I'll send you pictures. I have to go now, don't stay up too late. Get lots of rest okay. Love you."
"Love you lots mum."
The call ends. Ambar sighs as she thought about the dinner. Many of the upperclass would be there and it was going to be a pain to talk to them. Some would be very snobbish, while some would act nice in front of you to get into your good graces. As her mind was in an assault of information, she thought of having to meet with Xia Lin there. It's better to avoid having much contact with her. After all, she doesn't want any attention and Xia Lin was a bitch.
Ambar turns back to her computer and open up browsers. She scan through the news and she found out that Xia Lin finally been in contact with Nan Zhi Shang. It about time for Ambar to expose the truth. Well, if Xia Lin decides to provoke Ambar during the upcoming dinner, Ambar could easily give her payback. She might not look like it, but Ambar does have the upper hand right now. Ambar hums in a happy tone as she thought happily on how to ruin Xia Lin. Besides, she had already collected information on the people that Xia Lin has used in her recent schemes. It was easy to influence them to take action against her too. You know the saying, what comes around goes around.
