Chereads / Lord Titanheart / Chapter 38 - A Good Person

Chapter 38 - A Good Person

Leon wanted to watch what would happen after he passed through the death calamity but the screen became blurry and didn't show much else. Leon understood that further to see in the future would harder than to see a few days ahead, so his future was becoming harder to predict as he watched. He might lay in his tomb so long that his destiny prediction hit to limit. But he didn't know that if he passed the trial, if so, what was his ranking.

He didn't wait too much to know his results, the screen which was trying to show his future has changed and there was a report about his destiny.

[97 points out of 100]

[According to your destiny, you can choose one of these rewards.]

Leon's guess for the reason of his high points, might be that his destiny was closely connected with the system world. The screen didn't show the process of absorption of the foreign elements, but it didn't mean that the system didn't divine it.

Leon looked at the rewards, there was too many choices. Leon didn't immediately choose one of them, but read carefully their descriptions. Leon was tempted by the quality of the rewards and he wanted to take all of them. After reading all the list of rewards, Leon choose one, it wasn't a weapon or a cultivation technique or an eye technique, it was an auxiliary type technique.

It was called [God's Imprint], this technique was used by the gods to imprint their most loyal followers and harvest their faith to get stronger and reward them via the imprint. But this wasn't the only use of this technique, the basic principle of the technique take something and give something. It can be arranged in other ways, the technique would allow Leon to make strong soldiers and make himself more powerful. He didn't intend to go with the way of the gods, but he was planning to use this technique in a different manner.

After Leon choose, a book appeared in front of him in a light, he took the floating book and scanned with his book of knowledge and throw it in his inventory. When Leon took the book, a gate appeared at his side. Leon couldn't see what was behind the gate because of the fog which was obstructing his sight.

"Hermes, if there is any battle ahead, I want you to fight. While you grew stronger as you eat all those magical beast meat, you haven't experienced any real fight, it would be good for you." said Leon while he was patting Hermes' head. Hermes cawed as response. Leon understood that he was trying to say that he was going to do his best.

Leon didn't hesitate and passed through the gate with Hermes. When they passed, they were in a lush forest. Leon looked around and noticed that the gate that they came, disappeared. Leon didn't know what to do in this forest. He looked through the missions from his book of knowledge, thinking that the system was the referee in these trials, It was reasonable to assume that the trials might use the missions in the system to inform the participants about the trials.

When looked the missions, he found what he was looking for.

[Special Mission: Explore!]

[Description: This forest filled with danger, but also opportunities, show your might and luck to gods and gain their approval.]

[Duration: Indefinite]

Leon didn't care about approvals of gods, but he was tempted about the treasures. The treasures in this forest might not be at the level of four primordial treasures, but they might be placed by the gods who were domain stage old monsters, so the opportunities might be extremely precious.

Leon didn't need to show his luck. He knew that he was extremely lucky in a sense, when he first came to Aroan world he found a corpse of a titan and inherited their racial technique. But it didn't make him feel like he was invincible protagonist with his halo. He just knew that he was blessed with good luck.

Luck was an abstract entity for mortals, but for magus, it was a different story. Luck was essential for any living being, even being in existence itself was connected with luck. Luck was also needed to become a magus and proceeding in mana cultivation. Leon did know that in order to increase one's luck, one needed to sow good karma. It was just one of the ways to increase one's luck.

Good karma would affect maguses cultivation, but it wasn't that noticeable in the early stages. Good karma also called merit. Nobody knew where the luck comes, but nearly all of maguses believe in luck. Of course, some maguses didn't believe luck, so they wouldn't even try to sow merits.

Leon scanned around him with his senses and noticed that a few monsters were lurking around him. They didn't come towards Leon, from that he assumed that they didn't noticed Leon and Hermes. Leon didn't have any interest to kill them, but he could use them as a sharpener for Hermes. He slowly walked to the nearest one with Hermes through the forest. He didn't intend to fight, but he was going to watch from a distance that he could save Hermes if it was needed.

After he came in a safe distance to the monster, Leon stopped and pointed it to Hermes, he understood what Leon was doing, so he went to the monster and started to fight with it. Hermes didn't have to fight in a battle since he was born, so his attacks were easy to read and crude. Leon was watching Hermes fight, he knew that Hermes wouldn't become a fighting genius in a single fight, but he also had time to wait for it.

The fight last longer than Leon expected, but Leon also surprised to see that Hermes was trying to imitate his fighting style. It was a funny scene to see a griffon was trying to fight like a humanoid.

When the fight finished Hermes proudly came before Leon and puffed his chest. Leon smiled and reprimanded him that he and Hermes have different bodies, so he needed to find his fighting style which was more suitable to him.

While he was training Hermes, Leon didn't search for any treasures, but he still found some magical fruits and plants. He didn't have any interest towards techniques which was hidden in this forest, so he didn't specifically search for them, but he needed a massive amount of eye techniques to create an eye technique which was suitable to him.

Leon also created a mission for his book of knowledge and that was to scan his body and specifically to scan his eyes. Leon didn't have much knowledge about a titan body, the titan inheritance that he got, was also didn't contain any knowledge about anatomy of the titans. It wasn't weird that he didn't get any inheritance about the body of titans, a titan body was sturdy and wouldn't get sick, so for titans, at least for the majority of them wouldn't do any research about their bodies.

While his book of knowledge was working on this mission, Hermes was getting more and more used to fight. He wasn't at the level that he could be called a fighting genius, but he made some progress. Leon saved him a few times when he was in danger, but aside that he didn't interrupt his battles.

They were doing that for two weeks, but Leon didn't see any participant aside from himself. Either the forest was too big to run across with anyone, or everyone was fighting in their specific forests. It didn't take too much time to eliminate one of the possibilities because he saw a participant aside from himself, plus he knew that participant. Casper was the one that he saw.

Casper wasn't at his best condition, his eyes were closed and he was bleeding while he was laying his back to a rock. Leon didn't let him alone and went to his side. When Casper heard his footsteps, he opened his eyes, he was cautious, but he didn't have much energy to stand up. Eventually he saw Leon, who was walking with him.

"Are you here to kill me?" asked Casper, his guess was that Leon was here to finish him off.

"No, I'm here to help you like a good person would do." said Leon while shaking his head, then he went to Casper's side and brought a pill from his spatial bag and gave to him. While it was the best time to search Casper's memories, so Leon put his hand to Casper's shoulder and summoned his book of knowledge. Soon after he knew a lot of things, including the rape incident. Casper didn't rape anyone in his life and he didn't kill a girl and her family.

It was weird, because Leon also knew that Theo didn't make these rumors. He also searched Theo's memories, so he knew that.

When Leon knew that, there was only one possibility. Someone wanted to create chaos in fief of marquis. Thinking that Casper was the only one possible candidate for the next marquis before Theo was cured.
