Chapter 41 - Locke

Cale was hoping to find some storage and collect some metals from there, so he was disappointed, but Leon was happy to find that it was a library. He was hopeful that he could find some eye techniques and complete to create his eye technique. He didn't know what kind of library it was, but seeing that it was in the trials, Leon was guessing that it had some mana techniques. Only Casper's expression didn't change, he didn't have any interest in magic or magical devices, but he did want to find some to sell.

They entered the library and Leon saw that it didn't look like it was uncared like the garden. It was clean and didn't have any dust. Leon thought it might have some formations to keep it clean.

Leon didn't wait and summoned his book of knowledge and commanded it to collect all the information in the library. While his soul artifact was collecting the information in the library, he sat down in a chair and closed his eyes. Cale looked at Leon and thought, he might be exhausted and needed a nap. Actually Leon was reviewing the new knowledge. While he already copied the knowledge in the system's network, he couldn't copy all the knowledge in the system world. The system didn't have private information, and this library was a private property of the gods. Leon didn't know which god owned the library and he didn't care. If they left the library on this trail, it meant they didn't care if he copied all of it.

While he was reviewing he learned a bit of about soul cultivation. Until now he only knew that there were two stages, but in this library he learned that there was a third stage, and it was called origin soul. If soul embryo was a baby then the origin soul was grown up stage of it. There wasn't much difference between them other than origin soul would have much more mental energy. But there was also a lead about the fourth stage, but it was only a speculation. The writer said that if the origin soul was a human, then the fourth stage must be earth and the fifth stage must be heaven.

Leon focused that book and read it. It was just a speculation, but Leon thought it might be possible. From the book, he learned that in the fourth stage, one create a space and fill that with his understanding, on the fifth stage, these understandings would cause the space to create its own laws. It was just a speculation, but Leon like the idea.

Aside from this book, Leon also interested in another book. It wasn't an eye technique or any other technique, but it was about how to make your magical beast stronger. It wasn't a mana cultivation for magical beast, but it was composed of guidelines to make a magical beast stronger. It was full of experiences and hints about it.

Aside from Leon, who already send his book of knowledge to copy the books in the library, Cale also looked around for books about blacksmithing. He hoped that he would find ores, but seeing that Leon was sitting on the chair with eyes closed; he thought that if he found a way to improve his blacksmithing, it would be good.

The library wasn't that big, Leon finished copying after three hours and opened his eyes, and saw that Cale was reading a book, then he looked for Casper and saw that he fell asleep on a chair. Leon didn't disturb them and continue to review the books.

Aside from these two books, there some books about anatomy books for intelligent species. Leon didn't find any book for titan anatomy, but it wasn't a surprise for him. The titans were rare and even titans wouldn't care about their anatomy, but Leon could compare other races physique to his and understand more about his body.

ā€¦

While Leon and company were in the library, at the other end of the forest a young man facing a monster. The man's face was damp with his and monster blood, but it didn't obscure his vision as he was looking the monster with determination and killing intent.

Behind the young man there was two young women, one of them was injured and laying down on the ground with pale face and panting, the other one was trying to heal her with everything she got, it should be hard the heal her because there was sweat on her forehead from using too much mana to heal.

Young man was Locke and one of the women was the big sister type who was trying to heal the other one at the moment, and the other one was the young mom that he encountered in Gate city.

When Locke entered the trials he passed his days alone, until he found Lela. After finding her, they hunted monster together and they also found a few fated chances for themselves. It was a blessing for Locke, who deepen his relationship with Lela.

When they were exiting one of the ruins, they heard a shrill scream, Lock knew that sound, so he immediately run over and saw Mary, who was running away from a monkey like monster while bleeding. As he was about to enter the fight, Mary had punched by the monster and Mary flew away with a breaking noise. He immediately called for Lela and confronted with the monster. This was what happened until now.

Locke didn't want to drag the fight, so he took his stance with his sword which was black and a bit luster on it. This sword was obtained when he entered a ruin and passed the test there. Locke didn't see any sword like that. When he first took the sword, techniques to wield this sword appeared in his mind. He didn't want to use this move, because when he used, he would remain powerless for an hour, but at the moment he didn't have much choice. He lifted his sword above his head and made slashing move towards the monster. The slash wasn't fast, instead it could be called slow, but it was filled with condensed mana to the limit. When the tip of the sword pointed to monster, its tip started to glow and with a blinding light, mana took the shape of a crescent moon following the sword's movement and cut through the monster like butter. After the fight over Locke didn't have any energy to show his joy, instead he collapsed to the ground with sweat all over his body and panting hard.

Locke was a warrior until now and his body was more durable compared to the rest of maguses and he still didn't let go of his battle style because he became a magus. While maguses have much more firepower they couldn't handle a strike from near. Him being a magus with strong body, made Locke felt like he was the main character of a novel. In the novels that he read, the protagonist was always somehow different from the rest. At first he had luck with the ladies, then he found an inheritance and became a warrior. His luck was good and when he came into system world, he found an elixir which could turn a warrior to a magus.

At first he was hesitant, he was a warrior until now, he thought that he wouldn't get used to the weakness of his body. In the end he chose the magus road, while he was a warrior, he also knew that the road of a warrior was hard. While warrior was good at the near combat compared to maguses, they couldn't get stronger as fast as maguses.

He had a goal and to accomplish this goal, he needed to get stronger, faster, so the road of a warrior wouldn't satisfy his needs. He didn't hesitate long and drank the elixir. After taking the elixir, he noticed that his bodily strength didn't disappear but remained. That further strengthened his belief that he was the main character like one of the novels that he read.
