Chereads / Trash 3000 / Chapter 6 - A Journey Begins.

Chapter 6 - A Journey Begins.

Oliver got walked out of class and threw a brick at a bunch of high tiers. They yelled at him as he ran. He continued running around the school, then Sami ran in and swapped positions with Oliver without the high tiers noticing. Sami was fitter and was faster than Oliver, he ran far from the high tiers but not too far. They chased him into the classroom.

"Your cornered punk," said one of them panting. Sami let out a mischievous grin. Oliver's plan had worked. "Oh yeah," said Oliver behind them, Ryan, Max, Gugs, and Chris all behind Oliver smirking. "Who's cornered now?" asked Chris.

Max and Ryan closed the doors and Oliver told them that they weren't going to do anything so there was no need for a fight. "All we need," stated Oliver. "Is information on the Chairman, and once you tell us, you will not tell anyone what happened if you still want your ranks in the future,"

The kids protested but Oliver was too persistent. "Tell me, or else I'll make you pay for what you guys do to low tiers," Oliver's voice was dangerously low.

The high tier found it hard to make eye contact. "Oh-Ok," he said looking at his friends. "I'll tell you everything I know,"

It had been a month after Oliver formed the secret group by the "The Rebellion"

Oliver learned how to tell if someone was lying, no one could lie in front of him. Which was a valued asset in the situation Mid-Horizon was in because of the Chairman, and woman? Oliver found out that there was a chairwoman which did genuinely come as a shock to Oliver.

Oliver and the gang had probably enough information to unleash a coordinated attack to take down both the Chairmen.

Once Oliver finished interrogating the high tiers. He made sure that he had their word that they wouldn't dare snitch.

Taking down the guardians would be easy with Isen on their side, and the knights and rooks will be taken care of Ryan, Max, Chris, Fionna, Ashley, and Gugs. Alyss had a different idea, she had this grudge against the Chairwoman so Oliver agreed that she had first dibs on her.

It was Lunch period, the cafeteria was gleaming with well-mopped floors, clean tables and of course tasty food. Oliver knew that it was fine to wreck school property if it had to do with dethroning someone but it didn't feel right to destroy such a clean place. Oliver looked around and saw the Chairman and his subordinates sitting on a large table. Isen was sitting and was engaged in a conversation. He caught Oliver's eye for a slight second and continued talking. Oliver then looked at the lunch entrances, Chris and Gugs were guarding the entrances in the most imperceptible way, just as Oliver had told them too. Oliver then scanned the room once again as he walked slowly towards the high rankers table. He noticed Sami and Fionna sitting on a table waiting for Oliver's signal, and then there was the rest of the kids the gang managed to recruit.

Oliver walked up to the table.

"Hey what are you doing here?" said a guardian rudely.

"What, I can't eat my lunch?" asked Oliver holding a tray he had grabbed on the way to the table.Connor looked at him.

Oliver sat down on an empty seat and took a bite out of his sandwich, "I mean, I really don't want to sit next to you guys. But I want to enjoy the show."

The high rankers exchanged glances.

"What show?"

Suddenly the door crashed open.

And a bunch of kids ran in and pulled out their weapons. One of them aimed his bow at Connor.

"Don't you dare move Connor!" ordered Oliver as Connor got out his seat. Oliver took one last bite out of his sandwich.

Isen got out of his seat and punched all of Connor's companions knocking them out.

"Isen! You traitor!" said Connor clenching his teeth.

"Shut up," said Isen grimly. "You actually think that...that I would put up with your bullshit?"

Connor looked quite offended and Oliver sensed an insult coming in.

Oliver raised his hands to calm Isen down.

He sighed and got up. The entire Lunchroom was focusing on him and the conflict.

"Connor and almost the rest of the high tiers pushed away low and mid tiers, allowing none of us to graduate and have the luxury of being apprentices' to the Corps," said Oliver, he realized everyone was paying complete concentration on him so he raised his voice.

"I think it's time a new Hierarchy is made!"

Suddenly the whole lunchroom broke out with applause. Connor had a look of disgust on his face. A giant portal appeared and a ghost-like blue flaming man appeared.

"I am Orek, the ghost of the Rifts. I congratulate you," he said looking at Oliver while giving him a vague wink. "Who will take the place of Chairman?"

Everyone glanced at each other. Oliver immediately thought that he should raise his hands but he decided to ask other people first. "Sami, you want to be the Chairman?"

Sami considered it for a moment, but he thought better of it. He didn't want his true power shown. "No, I'm fine with being a pawn..."

Oliver raised his eyebrow. "As long as I can become an apprentice," added Sami.

Oliver merely nodded, he looked around the Lunchroom.

"Then... I'll be Chairman," said Oliver without hesitating.

"Alright," said Orek. "You are worthy of the title. But who will be the second Chairwoman or Chairman?"

Suddenly the door burst open and Alyss dropped the old Chairwoman onto the floor.

"Well..." smiled Oliver. "I think we've got a new Chairwoman... don't we?"

Oliver decided that he and Alyss would be Chairman and Chairwoman. The Guardians would be Isen, Ryan, Max, Chris, and Fionna. Chosen by Oliver and Alyss.

Sami wanted to stay as a pawn, his secrets would less likely be discovered.

For the next several days Alyss and Oliver felt like Queens and Kings. People practically bowed when Alyss walked into class. Oliver, on the other hand, did get respect but he wasn't called "sir" or "Your Royal Highness" or anything of that sort which he was totally fine with. But of course, a random kid in the class called him"Royal Blood" which caught on. People were really astounded when they saw that Oliver was getting teased by Sami yet he didn't blast him. This got to some of the students' heads and one of them trash talked about Oliver which he instantly regretted since Oliver banged the desk and got up. "Did you forget who I am? Or am being too nice to you guys!?" He bellowed with anger on the students. "Don't ever say something like that to someone who helped you!"

But other than that life was really good at Mid-Horizon. Oliver could hardly believe that he could have still been in a normal school and never have met Gugs or Alyss. That would truly be horrible.

Oliver and Alyss were given offices which were very large. But the Chairmen had jobs that they must do so Oliver did a bunch of paperwork, solved problems for other students throughout the week.

Oliver stepped back into his office which was amazing. He had his desk and chair right next to the window with an awesome view. Oliver sat down on the black leather couch and sighed. He had a long day of school and work. At least he didn't have to walk to Edwards house to sleep anymore. Yesterday Oliver realized that the office was even larger than he had thought there was another room to the side with an entire bedroom. So he had moved all of his clothes to this office so he could sleep quickly. Oliver's routine was now just, wake-up, get ready, eat, school work, eat, Working out, Training, working, eating, working then sleeping. There was really not much time for fun, Oliver had to focus on school, getting stronger, and work every day.

This was tiring, of course, Sami noticed that Oliver's eyes had a bit of a black mark under it.

Oliver worked, ate dinner, worked and then went to bed. He really hoped that his schedule would fix and he could get enough sleep.

Oliver closed his eyes and sooner than later everything just faded...

Oliver jolted awake, his back aching from the position of his sleep. He groaned miserably, he was tired like heck and his body was sore.

He sat up on his bed. "Forget this," he said pulling out his phone. "I'm not going to school today,"

The phone kept ringing until the receiver picked up. "Hello,"

"Yeah, Edward," said Oliver. "I'm going to take the day off, think you can tell that to the headmaster?"

"Yeah, but...why?" asked Edward.

"I'm sick,"

"Okay then," said Edward casually.

Oliver hung up and dropped back his bed.

He just wanted some rest. Suddenly he heard someone knock on his door. Oliver just ignored it and tried to sleep. After a few seconds, someone banged on the door harder than before.

"OKAY!" Exclaimed Oliver. "I'm coming!"

Oliver looked around for some clothes, he just wore his uniform which was blue and white.

He opened the door, only to see a man in a gray and green cloak, his hair combed back like Edward's hair. And he had a full on stealth suit. Oliver looked at the stranger and paused, then the stranger decided to break the silence.

The stranger looked him in the eye, Oliver sensed hesitation but he decided not to read his heartbeat or anything like that to see if he was lying which he regretted dearly... " I am

Allen O' Carter,"

"You must Oliver J. Joseph, the Chairman. Right?" he asked.

"Matter of fact... I am Chairman, what do you want?" asked Oliver gesturing him inside.

Allen walked inside, "I am part of the Shroud corps."

Oliver raised an eyebrow, he could see where this was going. "So..."

"So, I want you to be my apprentice," said Allen.

"No disrespect but, what do you see in me? You can find someone better," said Oliver.

"No-I can't, you are the first, first-year Chairman, in 20 decades. There is no one like you,"

Oliver was interested and felt good about the compliment that he didn't realize the hesitation in Allen's voice.

"And what do Shrouds do?" asked Oliver.

"We scout around the kingdom, some people say we have some dark magic and stay away from us since we can practically turn invisible, the reason you need to-" Suddenly Oliver's senses blared, he heard a homing missile. "GET DOWN!" A large crash shook the castle and Oliver turned around to see through the window, one side of the castle had flames around it and a bunch of people running on rooftops. "Villians," thought Oliver. "Are they after me?"

Another explosion but this time Oliver knew where it was heading right for them. He turned to Allen, "RUN!"

They ran out of the suite and slammed the door behind them. They heard an explosion behind them and people walk in Oliver's room. "Scatter!" whispered Allen hoarsely. Oliver ran to one direction and Allen ran to the other. Oliver kept running through the hall and he heard a missile hit the ceiling at the end of the hall, which crumbled and blocked the way. Oliver knew that he had to Phase through it. "I'm not supposed to be doing this skill yet, but here we go!" shouted Oliver aloud. He ran straight into the rumble from the ceiling and he felt all the particles inside him, every atom separate and he went right through the rubble that was blocking the way. Once Oliver reformed he didn't have time to celebrate, the wall right next to him opened up and a man threw a knife at his leg. Oliver moved out of the way and teleported to the other side of the hall. "Catch me if you can," said Oliver which he regretted almost instantly. The villain warped right behind him, Oliver had almost no time to react. Oliver pulled out his sword and parried the villain's sword at the last moment.

"I can't fight him," thought Oliver. "I need to escape somehow,"

Oliver heard people run up behind him and people in front of him. He was surrounded from all sides. "What the heck am I supposed to do?" mumbled Oliver. Suddenly an arrow about as large as Oliver's arm went straight through Oliver's foe. And the attacker dropped to the floor just as a dozen more people closed Allen and Oliver in. Allen got close to Oliver they were back to back. "Think we can handle this Mister... Allen?"

Oliver didn't get a response so he turned around only to see Allen change forms and swing at him. Oliver dodged, "What the-" an arrow went through Allen. As Allen dropped, all the other people who surrounded Oliver did as well. Oliver looked up to see who had saved him, only to see...

"ALLEN!?" exclaimed Oliver. "But Allen just died!"

Allen looked at the dead body. "This was a shapeshifter that I've been following, he isn't with the villains, of course, I think I will report this to the-"

"Wait!" interjected Oliver. "The shapeshifter was you from the beginning?"

"Yes," said Allen impatiently. Oliver noticed that the real Allen wasn't very talkative. "So your not going to invite me to become a Shroud Apprentice?" asked Oliver.

"I was going to after I captured the shapeshifter," said Allen gesturing me to follow. "And I will now too,"

No words were spoken as Oliver followed Allen. Oliver senses that Oliver didn't want to be asked questions but curiosity got the better of him. "So, where are we going?" asked Oliver.

"To the headmaster's office, that's the safest and most important place to be right now," Allen responded. Oliver noticed that Allen started walking faster so he jogged to keep up.

"How long were you following the shapeshifter?" asked Oliver.

Allen didn't reply he just stopped and raised his hand so Oliver did the same. Then Allen kneeled to the round and touched the floor. "Traces of blood... this can't be good,"

Oliver had just about a billion questions, but he somehow found the urge not to ask Allen anything.

Allen walked until he reached a statue of a sort. He then tapped the statue three times then said, "Butterscotch," and tapped the statue seven times. For a moment nothing happened and just as about Oliver was about to laugh mockingly but almost instantaneously the statue split into two and opened up, revealing a spiral staircase. Oliver stood in complete awe, then he realized Allen started walking up the staircase and followed. Once they reached the top, Allen knocked on a door. "Come in," a familiar voice. Allen opened the door, and Oliver was in even more awe when he saw an amazing circular room, with couches, seats, and everything. Oliver didn't doubt that there was a hidden passageway somewhere here.

"So," said Chyrin Emryn Alderson. "What do we have here, Allen?"

"The castle is under attack," said Allen.

"Which is being taken care of by the guardians Oliver chose himself," said Chyrin.

Allen looked at Oliver surprised.

"What, I'm not useless. I choose smart and strong people as guardians" said Oliver.

"Then I'd like to make a request, my lord,"

"Go on," the Old King urged.

"I'd like to have Oliver as my apprentice,"

The king raised an eyebrow. Oliver looked up.

Allen leaned into the king's ear and whispered. Allen didn't know of Oliver's super hearing which is why Oliver almost smirked mischievously but he kept a straight face while listening.

"I know it's too early to be choosing apprentices but he's a special one, after all. He is Jack's son. And I plan to show him what is inside that box to your left when he grows,"

"Okay," said Chyrin nodding. "This shall be an exception,"

"So what now?" asked Oliver casually, even though had just about a billion of the question he couldn't ask.

"Follow me," said Allen. "Your real journey begins now,"

>>>>>>>>>Author's notes<<<<<<<<<<

-Sorry for posting late night, I think I'll post normally on Wednesdays. And sometimes make an extra post on the weekends if I'm feeling it.

-I had lot's of fun writing this chapter especially.

-Did anyone notice that Harry Potter reference I made with the Stones moving, and a password?

-Have fun! I have nothing else to say. -__-

Wait I do!

- There are 72 Shrouds, one for each Fief. This, of course, changes as the story goes on.

A Shroud most essential piece of clothing is the camouflage cloak. Made of tightly woven wool, it offers protection from the weather, so I guess they can just ride on a horse while it's snowing.

(No one's stopping them)

-Shrouds are best known for their longbows that they carry and the thirty-seven arrows in their quiver - this, combined with the unreal accuracy of Shrouds. They, of course, carry extra arrows in their saddlebag. Shrouds are extremely accurate with their longbows and can shoot rapidly with accuracy.

-Warriors/ Knights: While the shrouds are incredible tacticians, The Kingdom of Horizon

would not be able to function without the knights and a battle school.

-Knight are taught to use all weapons, spears, swords, lances, bows, etc. The knights are taught to respect the laws and be chivalrous. A knight is a dangerous enemy to have for sure, I mean do you want to get into a sword fight with them lol?

-Ninja's are like trained mercenaries for the Kingdom. They travel at night usually, you can almost never see them in the morning. They are quiet, some say almost quieter than a Shroud. They have Shurikens, Kunais, and things you expect a ninja to have. And it would be really wise to watch their Katana's, deadly things.

-Assassins are stealthy and usually the quiet folk, they barely ever talk to other Corps, but Shrouds are excluded. Shrouds and Assassins are like battle buddies. It's not that rare to see a Shroud and an Assassin working together, with both of their climbing, and parkour skills they can scale an entire mountain. Assassins don't need many weapons they do have wrist blades that shoot out, they are amazing with hand to hand combat. They do use a dual blade sometimes, and sometimes you can see an Assassin teaching a Knight a sword skill this, of course, is really rare. But all in all, Assassins are sneaky and kill for the Kingdom.
