On the next day, David woke up beside his empress, looking at her face gave him a warm feeling, he gently kissed on her cheek before getting up.
"The effect of elixir was a real deal as expect of the reward I get from the system."
David once got a reward of 12 tubes of elixir, which he spent all of it with his remaining family, friends, and women. The effect of elixir could give him almost eternal youth if he himself decided so but he kept his look around early thirty as his children grew up but it was not like he became immortal and his lifespan as a human did not increase.
He would die of old age around 90-120 as other long lives human and would die instantly if something beheads him, even a huge loss of blood could kill him if it was not getting heal in time, his friends and family too, but it was not like happening in the near future anyway.
David ordered the maid to came and brought him breakfast for him and his wife, he would spend this lovely morning with his wife before going back to deal with the document about politic finance and other headache things that solo would choose only a few very important to bring in and discuss with him after lunch.
"Maybe I should let Al take charge of document, Bet too almost of age for these type of jobs."
Al or Albert, an 20 years old intellectual man of letter, was the son of David and Alexandra, a first legitimate son of David. He already graduated from the royal academy and now helping David by acting as Solo right-hand man to screening documents that would need David attention.
As for Bet or Better, he was the crown prince who younger than al by two years, he was the second prince if count by the order of birth date. Bet just graduated and still waiting for an appropriate work for him.
Both Al and Bet was the same type of guy, they both were scholar guys who would love to debate and argue about every subject that picked their interests. A little different was his first son was more of a Confucianism while his second was similar to Buddhism, both were pacifists but the first was a base on situation pacifist while the second was an extreme pacifist.
David had another two legitimate princes but those two more military oriented person and would be better to help him with expansion and other military-related tasks. However, there was no stage for them to shine now as all hostile nations were just a thing in history books now. As the other races either paid tribute and provided a hostage or did both, there was no reason to attack them.
David really wanted for his third child to show his ability, it was not like he did not love other children he had, he loved all of his children but he sometimes gave preference toward the third son who resembled him the most.
"Dear, what are you thinking?"
"Hm? Nothing, I just thinking….. nothing."
"So, are you thinking or are you not?"
"Um… Nothing, just think about nothing in particular. Why don't we have breakfast together, we don't have time to eat breakfast together for a long time."
After David finished with his breakfast it was around 9 in the morning, so he went straight to the office waiting for Solo. Before he opened the door, the steward came and reported to him that his sister had come to visit him and she now waiting in his office, when he opened the door the familiar figure appear and greeted him with a smile.
"Brother, good morning it's nice to see you."
"Good morning, what's bring you here? Do you have a problem and want this brother to solve it for you? Did you beat someone at the pub?"
"Do I need a problem to see you? And I already passed that period for a long time, I already grasped him, stop teasing me about the past." It was an old story, around the time David was an upstart noble and she still unmarried that she would sometime get in a fight when she visited the pub incognito to get a drink because of love problem.
"Of course not. I'm just worried," David did not mean any ill will toward his sister, they already reach forty but for him, she would always be a little sister he had to look after for.
"….Brother, the truth is I want to talk about your policy."
"Ah, I see. Did he ask you to persuade me?" He said jokingly, he knew that Woden would not use his sister as a tool, that guy would tell David face to face.
"No, I just worry. Is it really need to do something like that?.... Perhaps, are you still angry with those people over the accident that kill mama? But you already finished all of that sect, isn't it enough?"
"It's not like that, This is this and that is that. This is my duty as a ruler."
"What's a duty? They are innocent, it's not like you to kill people just because they badmouth you."
"My dear. You don't understand." David had a soft spot for this sister of his and tried to explain his reason. However, the sister could not understand his reason, she had the same line of thinking like her husband in this matter, this damped David mood a bit.
Knocked knocked… there was a knocking sound on the door before the steward came in and reported to David that there was an unexpected guest sending a letter to ask for a visit. Since the man who coming was of important status sent by the council of elves, the guard directly reported to the higher up, the steward who knew the identity of this male elf then hurried and reported to David.
A smiled formed on David's face, his slightly damp mood started to be great again.
"I did not tell you before, right? So surely the one you gonna see would make you surprise. When you see who comes in, trust me your mouth gonna open like a goldfish
"Hm?"
The steward guided the young elf to David's office, opened the door and left the room.
"Greeting esteemed father, I came as a representative for the council." The elf bowed to David before turning his attention to the other person in the room.
"I guess this is my aunt, am I right, esteemed father?"
David nodded and asked his purpose for coming to this far place out of the great forest.
"Grandfather wanted to ask for your cooperation, he also wanted me to open my horizon. And considering our relation, the council decided that I'm the most suitable for the task. This is the letter….Ah! should I later represent the letter in the hall, esteemed father? " The young elf wanted to give David the letter from the council but seemed to recall that he was representing his people and should perform his duty in a more appropriate way.
"Fine, but can you tell me what is the content of the letter?"
"The conflict between elves of great forest and dwarves in the east mountain range need a middleman for negotiation, grandfather want you to assist our side and in the worst case help us expelled them from the east by force."
"EH!" At first, she just wanted to help her husband by convinced her brother but now it seemed that the old wound still did not heal yet the new one already coming on its way.
Since the matter about dwarves and elves was a big issue that needs to discuss with care, David would wait for Solo. As of now, they just chit-chat randomly as the family would do till it almost lunch. David thought that it would be good if he called other children to meet with their big brother and had a family lunch together. Before David called the steward had come in and told David that Solo had arrived with Woden in tow.
It seemed today was not a fine day for David.
