Chapter 3 - A boy Named Luke

Having finished her first two periods Amalia picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder. Walking to her next class she immediately put on the most pathetic and dying look she muster and started moaning, her hand on her stomach as she sought out her teacher for third period.

"Miss Anderson" she wined, doubling over as she making her voice sound as weak and sickly as possible. "Would it..would it be possible..to do home study today? I just..I don't feel too well" she whimpered softly adding an extra groan in for effect. "I don't think grandfather would mind, and I promise to bring in all my assignments straight away tomorrow."

The teacher looked down at the child skeptically, she was obviously doubting the sincerity of the illness but at another low groan from Amalia she caved in with a sigh. "Alright, but Amalia " she added "I know this year hasn't been easy for you. Regardless these are your formative years. Your future depends on your education. I expect to see more effort from you going forward."

Amalia could only nod her head obediently. "Yes ..Yes Miss. Thank you!" and with that she continued her act all the way to the schools exit. Once she was safely out of sight of students and teachers she made a mad dash to the gas station about a block away and stopped at the nearest bathroom.

Today was the day all her plans would begin to take shape. Tugging her sweater off hurriedly she quickly bound her chest as tightly as she possibly could before putting it back on and taking out her make up bag she set to work. Having removed her gel and make up from her bag she quickly spiked her short black hair and promptly used a black eye pencil to darken her eyebrows making them look thicker and more masculine. She still looked a little on the delicate side but at most she would pass for a pretty boy, it had taken her weeks to figure out the make up for this and surprisingly no one was any wiser.

Reaching to the ground she quickly drug her fingers through the dirt to smudge up her face a little. and tugged on her jacket as well as a pair sun glassed before heading out side. Charlie should be here any minute now and she didn't want to keep him waiting.

A few moments later the sound of a Harley could be heard nearing the station. The man who got off it stood about 6 foot tall, had loose curly dark hair and dark almost chocolate colored eyes. He was fair skinned and most of the girls in their circle were all swooning over him. As the man walked toward him he couldn't help but laugh.

"We haven't even started the initiation yet and you look like you've already been playing, who was the unlucky one this time?"

Amalia shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly speaking in a deep yet soft velvety voice. "Just some dude thought he could hit on my girl. Should be a while now before he's able to hit on any girls" The man smirked as he walked toward the bike, leaving the backpack tucked away behind one of the toilets in the bathroom.

"Another one? Jeeeeeeze Luke, how many girls do you have exactly" the older kid teased.

Luke was like a kid brother to Charlie. They had met several months ago in an arcade when Luke had been him at a game of Mortal Combat. The kid was cocky no doubt but there was this air of fragility about him that had made Charlie want to protect him. So when Luke had later asked him teach him to fight he couldn't turn him down. Not just that, the kid was a natural. He seemed to pick up the skills with an ease that was almost chilling.

In the time that Charlie had been teaching him he had to admit that Luke's skills had progressed rapidly. For whatever reason though there was something about this right of passage he was about to do that bothered Charlie. Scratching his chin a moment he looked to the younger kid and tilted his head.

"Hey..Luke? Are you sure you want to do this? Whats the big deal about a gang of thugs anyway?" He asked, trying to mask his own concern for his junior. Luke was a lot of things, funny, smart no doubt and even though he looked fragile Charlie knew the kid was proud if he even gave off a whiff of concern Luke would instantly be on the defensive. If there was one thing he couldn't tolerate it was others looking down on him. Try as Charlie might to get close he knew, Luke almost always held up this impenetrable wall around him. Charlie doubted if he ever really trusted anybody and wondered if he ever really would.

Luke arched a very well drawn eyebrow at him and smirked, cocky as ever. "Well to answer your first question, its probably more than you have. And also, what do you mean 'am I sure'.. I mean if you aren't up for it...." with that Luke merely shrugged his shoulders and walked away. If Charlie wasn't up for it, that was his issue. There was nothing that was going to keep Luke from getting his revenge.
