Chapter 18 - Hand Them Over

Jin quickly reached Meldor and the others in a span of a few minutes. Surprisingly, they were already prepared when he arrived; clubs and staff on hand, ready for battle. "I could smell intruders, southwest from here," Meldor spoke in a serious tone. Jin nodded in reply.

There was definitely something wrong going on and Jin couldn't help but be anxious about it. The week-long restriction allotted to the Priyan Kingdom gave Jin enough breathing room to think through a lot of things, but it would seem like trouble came knocking on his door much earlier than he expected.

Marching towards the southwest direction, Jin, Meldor, and a group of capable Heaths made their way to "greet" whoever was intruding the Priyan Kingdom.

Indeed— Peace has always been something that is short-lived.

Gifted with such a sharp sense of smell, Meldor easily located the intruders' general location. Indeed, even with the restriction sphere in place and the timer not even close to the zero-mark, somebody actually made a way to enter the Priyan Kingdom area forcefully. Hiding beneath the dense thickets of the forest, Jin observed the trespassers from a distance; far enough for them to be able to conceal their presence.

As a king himself, it took Jin a mere look to locate the man in charge of the group. Although the group consisted of players with equally high levels, Jin easily identified Lang as the leader— exuding an unabated sense of pride and confidence, typical of leaders with such a low sense of self-esteem. 'There are 19 of them, including the Lang guy. Even with everyone here, it wouldn't be enough.' Jin estimated that they'd have little to no chance of winning against the intruders if they were to engage in a head-on fight.

Before taking any action, he needed to consider things well. He was not only risking his own life, but also the lives of the other Freyans. Jin gathered information about the trespassers and signaled the others to fall back and retreat.

He needed time to come up with a plan; something that was both safe and efficient.

Lang squinted his eyes as if he were looking in a distant direction. It's been an hour since they entered the Priyan Kingdom, yet... they haven't come up with something noteworthy. They haven't even seen a city's shadow, even more so the castle of the kingdom. There was something that felt off. It was as if they were... "We're lost, aren't we? "Lang spoke quietly, his tone was that of displeasure.

The others responded quietly, only giving Lang a slight nod. However, this time, Lang could not blame anyone. None of them knew about the area. They weren't server-locals, to begin with, and accumulating a map of a recalculated area was something unheard of as things would have changed throughout the entire restriction phase.

In truth, however— they had been circling the edge of the forbidden forest for the past hour. In order to buy the Freya people enough time to prepare themselves, Jin went ahead and created distractions for the trespassing party.

Because they were high-level players, they would obviously be attracted by the presence of a strong creature, no matter what. With that in mind, Jin made a spiraling labyrinth for the greedy bastards; walking around the forest and summoning the phantom King Bushwolf every now and then, in very short intervals, made Lang's party tread a seemingly endless path.

Of course, with a very limited mana pool and an almost non-existent regen for it, Jin fell quite short in prolonging the confusion of the intruders. Ultimately, the psychological labyrinth was short-lived. An hour was, however, long enough for Meldor to prepare his side of the plan.

Only a few moments after Lang voiced his displeasure, a surge of overbearing atmosphere suddenly rushed toward him. Then, a tall figure emerges from the dark thickets of the forest, staring down the Dark Mane group with glowing red eyes. A greatsword which caught everyone's attention floated over the mysterious figure.

Jin finally came out of hiding after misdirecting Lang's group for the past hour.

Albeit, he didn't surface for him to face them head-on, instead, he was there to act as bait, something for them to try and chase after. Of course, half of the plan relies upon Jin successfully luring the group towards the direction of Meldor, the rest is up to the Freya people. Walking as slow and as arrogant as he could, Jin sauntered, while still keeping a reasonably safe distance, towards Lang and his group.

… However, it would seem that Jin's plan to act all high and powerful was betrayed by the ability of other players to see the general information of another player. Now that the opposing party knew just how strong or weak he was, his bluff wouldn't work. Lang threw a confused look at Jin, who had a somewhat strong presence, but with a very low level.

"Huh? Someone's already here before us?" Lang queried in confusion.

Of course, none of them were really apprehensive about the player that suddenly appeared. After all, they were players from the third server; they would not even be scared by the current strongest within the fourth server. Moreover, the player that appeared was only LV 20, which was low but still relatively decent. The fourth server was still full of newbies after all. However, these were the only thoughts that ran inside the heads of the Dark Mane Guild's 18 members, Lang, on the other hand, was thinking differently…

"Hmmm, It doesn't really matter if someone came here first. You... you've got an unknown class that doesn't appear on my records, and on top of that, you've got an unknown title as well... "Lang grinned with a devious smile on his face as he pointed to Jin," See, I'm curious about what those are, would you mind handing them over to me?"
