When me and Jack returned, Daisy was sitting at the table. I hadn't seen Daisy in a couple years. Only glimpses and glances but she was quite reserved. Daisy is Jack's older sister. She has pale blue eyes and light brown hair that fell straight down her back. She had a thin frame that made her look peculiar. She was quite short, maybe 5'1. Daisy was 17 when she got married to 21 year old commander of Vermont's navy. Daisy was 22 when she received a telegram from the Navy's committee about how her husband was dead and lost at sea. Now she takes depression medicine.
"Hello Jack." Daisy said quietly. She wiped her tears and tucked her hairs behind her ears. "And Alice" She said shifting her eyes towards me.
"Hello Daisy," I said smiling. Daisy wasn't that bad unless someone ticked her off or whatnot. She wiped her tears and stood up. Her dress was simply magnificent. It had a blue skirt and turquoise waistband with sleeves that flow. I stared in awe as I realized my seamstress salary would never match that amount. That's a silk skirt. And that hem work is perfect cross-stitch. "Daisy. Who made your dress? It's absolutely stunning and the technique is professional." I said. I saw Daisy's eyes light up as she picked up her skirt.
"I made it." She said quietly. My eyes widened as she smiled and tucked her hair back again. That gazed upon it once more.
"Stunning Daisy. Absolutely marvelous." I repeated. She smiled, curtsied, and walked back to her room. "Your sister is amazing at sewing." I say turning towards Jack. He nods and heads back to the flag with his fathers name on it. He picked it up and put it on the fireplace in their den that was slowly warming up the room. I sat down at the table at the table and poured myself some water. Jack came and sat next to me. Jack took my hand and looked at his mother.
"Mother. Me and Alice are getting married." Jack said like it was a casual thing. I stood up abruptly and looked at Jack like he was mad.
"Pardon me? Jack May I speak with you outside?" I demanded, pulling Jack by his arm I dragged him outside. He looked at me with that adorable smirk. I felt my face getting hot.
Jack pulled me close to him, "What is it, Mrs. Peters-"
"Jack!" I interrupted. He looked down at me and smiled.
"Yes Alice?" His gazed was still warm. A flutter of my heartbeat possessed me. I stood on my tiptoes, reaching to get closer to Jacks face. I pressed my lips softly onto his.
"Mrs. Peters doesn't sound so bad." I said softly.
